If you could only listen to 3 albums for the rest of your life, what would they be?

My dad used to live next door to Trevor Oakes when I was little, guitarist from Showaddywaddy and father of former Leicester player Stefan. I vividly remember him waxing a bright red sports car in leopard print Speedos. Harrowing.

What about the drummer.. didnt he play for the Foxes junior team?

PS I was trying to think of of a Showaddywaddy track that might have a Wfc/Lfc tie in and all i could think of was 3 Steps to heaven..
Step one- you concede a dubious penalty
Step two- you save the dubious penalty
Step three- you go down the other end and score ;)

Step 4 - Keep mentioning it for years after when the other have enjoyed some actual success.

It was still heaven regardless of what happened after. It was a special moment that will be brought up for many years to come.. even by supporters of clubs other than ours.

    What about Romeo?

Btw, as a guest, I suggest you avoid the Heurelho Gomes - Fascist thread.

Any noxious extremism festering over at The King Power?

    But not to this bloke.

  13. I'll never get sick of watching that video - the noise in the away end slowly receding to virtual silence as the home fans ramp up the decibels, eventually reaching explosion level when Troy slams the ball into the back of the net - totally sublime.

You could make an equal case for

    STATIONTOSTATION
    Diamond Dogs
    Aladdin Sane (my first album)

although, to listen to incessantly, my left field choice is 1. Outside.

Or, Hunky Dory, Heroes & Heathen.

My standing argument with Beatles fans is that it was the pop music of its day and should be allowed to fade into obscurity , I would hate to think that in 50years time people are still playing take that / boy zone /1d

That would be a good argument if the White Album, Revolver, Rubber Soul etc didn't exist. They changed music and it's clearly not comparable with take that or boyzone. The early moptop stuff, sure. It has it's place in history, just like early, formulaic rock n roll, but to dismiss the Beatles as pop along with 90s boybands is wilfully obtuse

That is essentially what all Beatles fan say. To be honest I’m more familiar with their early pop stuff than the later hippie / experimental stuff , and I’m a punk / heavy metal fan so would take fast guitars and loud drums over a melody any day. I work with a few passionate Beatles fan and there is nothing more fun than watching them absoloutly incredulous every time I dismiss the Beatles as nothing more than a boy band

There are, or were some good punk bands but the bad far outweigh the good in that kind of music. A good proportion of punk bands were terrible

  30. Keighley

But at least they were attempting to make their own way in music, unlike manufactured boy bands.

  31. wfcmoog

Meh, that's hardly worthy. Playing 2 chords badly, singing out of tune, making little sense lyrically outside of basic angst.

    Worse. Genre. Ever.

Some sort of talent might have helped the punk bands. I'm not a big fan of boy bands but some do have a decent amount of talent unlike a good proportion of punk bands who thought gobbing on the audience would make them a success

I was agreeing with you until this point. Love Fawlty Towers

At the risk of getting a bit “arty-farty” about it, lack of talent was sort of the point. Punk was in large part a reaction to the perceived elitism of prog rock bands with their banks of synthesisers and nine-headed electric guitars, and an attempt to democratise the music business, so that anyone could join in. I quite agree that some of the lesser exponents were a bit tuneless but it seems to me that they largely got weeded out in the court of public opinion, leaving only the more talented to become popular, and their music is still heard today.
