I'm not a golfer or golf fan at all, but watch the Masters and Ryder Cup. I think I watch the Masters for the scenery, and the Ryder Cup just to watch USA lose at something they love.
There is nothing I miss about football. It has become so far removed from what it once was it’s not enjoyable anymore. It’s refreshing to have a break from the constant dribble about VAR (which is a joke in itself) and overcooked analysis about the smallest details of the game running almost 24/7 throughout the week until the next round of fixtures.
As they usually spend all day, every day, talking b*ll*cks it can't be that! I heard that Jeff Stelling had been furloughed
While on autopilot the other day I flicked over to it while channel hopping. It just seems to be interviews with no one of any relevance and the ticker is just repeating the government safety advice on a loop. I paused my Sky Sports subscription last weekend - no point paying for it while nothing is going on.
Ben Foster was on football focus earlier ding a spin with Ben class with Dan Walker and a few others. Seemed a bit cringy but entertaining at the same time. Who's Carol Baskin?!
You can watch the Belarus Premier League live on YT: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzZTOa7CVWGYjUh1G4if2AQ
i was kind of taken by the documentary , but never seen anything where absolutely everybody involved were such horrible people. I don’t think I felt any compassion towards any of them
Only one I felt sorry for was the young lad he married who killed himself. He clearly had issues than ran very deep!
Yep clearly had a few issues and what a what to go, proving to somebody that your gun won’t fire by shooting yourself in the head. There is a Louie Theroux documentary from a few years ago that features some of them and gives another insight into how insane they all are
I miss it due to the escapism aspect, with a lot of negative news over the last two months on this subject alone, it provides an alternative to focus on. I don’t miss the all football playing forever schedule though, unlikely, but hopefully this can help the game take stock and wind it’s neck in a bit.
Is this partly to do with the fact you could go off for your regular ablutions and come back to find nothing has happened?
That is part of the joy of it yes; however, due to the wonders of modern technology I can in fact not miss a frame by watching on my iphone whilst perched on the throne.
I have to say I miss the social aspect of it quite a lot, but not the 'other stuff' that comes with it - transfer rumours, press conferences, controversies, pundit's opinions, etc. I was due to head over around this time for a game (thankfully nothing booked) and I have to say I miss that and the weekend away aspect of it. Similar situation for Northern Ireland's playoff game(s). The 90 minutes of football itself and the social side of it have been missed. The rest just seems artificial now on reflection. However I have no doubt, when this all passes, come deadline day I'll still be clinging on to some vague French news report that we are interested in some random 18 year old.
