difficult one. we certainly would have suffered minus 22 goals! and with WBA and the likes of burnley, preston and birmingham looking much stronger it definatley would have been tougher. we got out at the right time
I've based my decision purely on the fact that apart from last Tue we have competed with everyone and the players have given 110%.
Its a much tighter and harder league this season and losing King would have hit us hard. Quite frankly the team that played on Tuesday would not beat most Championship sides although I am sure Spring and Henderson for example are decent players at that level. We have actually defended ok in a lot of games and I am sure would create more chances.
I'll be honest, I think we’d have struggled in the Championship this year. I think we’d have been top-half but you just have to see how Palace and Leeds are struggling to show it would have been far from easy (even before losing King). If we had lost in the play-off’s (especially if it was the final), I think we would have suffered from one massive hangover and found it difficult to find a rhythm. That is the one of the many reasons i'm glad we are in the Premiership
Hendo With MK out we would have had to rely on Hendo. Therefore we would have struggled as much in the CCC as we have in the Prem. I'd say top half not POs.
Don't quite follow your reasoning there - Hendo scored 14 goals in his own right last year, proving he's a more than competent CCC striker!
I said top half but not playoffs, as without our main goalscoring threat, plus more difficult opposition in the form of Birmingham, wba, cardiff, preston etc.
Well he hasn't exactly been the messiah so far this season - you've been unlucky! You shouldn't take that stance! It's dangerous!
I agree to an extent, like this season he'd have tried everything to get us a win, but if his hands were tied as much as they have been this season because of injuries to key players Ben, Ash and Marlon we would have struggled imo. Anyway we are in the Premiership, we did win on that day in May, so lets try and enjoy it whatever the future holds.
I would have to say `top half`, as with our injuries and some still relatively inexperienced players, we would find the competition tougher than last season. This is also important to our current status - we must do everything possible to stay in the Prem. because if we do get sucked down we would find it far harder to get back. Those extra Sky payments will make the gap between the divisions even greater.
Losing King wouldn't have been that much of a problem because at least we'd have been able to sign a loan player to cover! I reckon top 6
The thread is 11 days old. It must have expired. It seems Dave is on a mission to trawl up old threads
Cos of my messed up shifts at work I miss things and was just strolling through old threads to see what has been said recently. Birdys Peanut Butter thread still makes me chuckle though. So many replies, so much Ballacks!!
