I am getting very excited. Cat left the room when I launched into ‘Javi Gracia, he drinks sangria’ for the fourth time. COYH!
I was more nervous about the semi, so I'm currently stoic, determined and resolute yet disappointed that Michael Barrymore isn't doing the build up entertainment (brownie point if you understand that reference).
I have sold it to myself that we can't lose. If the result doesn't go our way, we have at least made press & public take notice this season & on the back of that might be able to attract better players next season. We can ultimately grow from this. I would like to see us score 1 goal in the final, that will make me happy.
I've been to a lot of major games, Champions League finals, semi finals etc, but when it's Watford it's extra special. I think it comes from the rarity of the occasion that makes it something really exciting. I'll be travelling back to Spain after the victory parade on Sunday. My view on the match is, if you're name's on the cup, then it's meant to be. We've had quite a few things go our way during this run. That last minute sitter missed by QPR, walking to the Vic only to find Zaha was not playing for Palace, having only 1 penalty in 38 match season yet get one in the last minute against Wolves. The omens are good. I think we could well just do it, but if we don't, then there's no shame in losing to one of the best club teams in Europe. We've got everything to gain here, and it's City who will have all the pressure.
Not in the slightest bit excited at the moment. I know in theory we have a chance but I can not envision any scenario in which we win. Thirty five years since the last final and look who we get, that sucks but it takes all the pressure out of the build up but sadly drains the excitement, once the game starts it will all change though. Then it's game on.
Me too. I was hoping to recreate the build up to 1984 by watching crackerjack last night and then Saturday superstore this morning , followed by grandstand (with ****y Davies ?) . Feel free to add any more 80s references
Been up the road for a look around and it's just like 84, meaning the memories are coming back. It's a good day.
Looking forward to the build up and the game, spending some time with family etc. I said all long that the Wolves game was our final as this is merely a formality for Citeh; we won that and a goal or a decent effort would be great in this game but there’s no scenario in which we don’t lose today.
I've backcombed my hair, a bit of a job as I wouldn't look out of place in a Mitchell brothers lookalike contest.
I feel human. But if wings grow on my back and I get a stinger before suddenly feeling the urge to paint myself yellow with red stripes i'll let you know.
To be honest, I feel a looming sense of dread, like I do before any major final. But this is one of the greatest shows on earth. Sure we had an easy route to the final. And sure, we may get hammered. But we may just rise up and confound all expectations. We just need to enjoy a show for which we’ve all been waiting a year for, and go out and do our best. Give 100% and just see what happens. A mid table finish and a final performance should not be scoffed at. Anything more is a bonus. As long as Ireland give us a good chunk points, I’m generally happy. Graham Norton makes it all worth watching anyway.
