Off to Hong Kong again to see family in the summer so booked flight to Australia to visit Melbourne and Sydney for 3 weeks. Will miss the start of the season though unfortunately! Got to plan where to go now, all I know is that I must do the Neighbours tour and quiz night!

Hey, I love Woolecombe. Quite a few years ago when my kids were younger, but great beach, gentle seas, nice restaurants and nice surroundings if you have a car. Best of luck with the weather.

Cheers ZZ! I was a bit sceptical as a few people had said there wasn't an awful lot to do but based on the recommendations on here I think I'll book it this week! :)

Exotic "originating in or characteristic of a distant foreign country."

    So, absolutely not.

Try the Tram Car Restaurant in Melbourne - great experience . http://www.tramrestaurant.com.au/

Also the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb whilst a bit expensive is worth every single penny just for the views.

Used to live in Magalluf for 4 years back in the 70's; own a flat in Palma Nova (Magalluf's sister resort), hope to get out there for about 3 weeks in August!

It's all about city breaks for me. Dublin a few weeks back, Madrid in five weeks time, Berlin a few weeks after that, Devon for a few days in September then a Christmas break which is likely to be Nuremberg.

Going down in June to work for a year so looking forward to that. Only 2 hours away from me too so quite handy. Never been down for more than a day though.

I'll be working for a week in over there in June. Not very long I know but looking forward to it.

City breaks are good and we often try and get in one a year but don't you find that a bit knackering for several times a year? They're not the most relaxing things.

They are tiring but I also find them relaxing. We went away to Bodrum in Turkey last September for a week but seven days was too long for me. After day five I was ready to come back. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time and loved visiting the likes of Ephesus but I am no good at totally switching off for a week. I did try spending an afternoon sitting on the beach doing nothing but I lasted 45 minutes before I had to go and have a stroll.

Also, doing city breaks allows us to do four or five a year in terms of expense and annual leave.

The worst thing about doing them is that the most convenient airport to fly from in terms of location is L***n, but it is a terrible airport to fly from!

City breaks are fun but are just as tiring at times as a 2 week trip to Orlando. Looking to get away for a week somewhere soon (after moving) to just relax. Any suggestions for European beach holidays (I haven't been on one since I was a kid) would be greatly appreciated. Don't want it too rowdy but some good nightlife too.

Greek islands are worth looking in to. They vary so much so you should find the perfect mix.

A friend of mine went to one recently and has suggested the same. Shall be looking into that then.

I have registered with the two "clubs" below. I've probably used them around 6 times in the last 3 years. Last minute holidays and selected dates over several months are usually available. Often they have been "incredibly good" value, but always they have been dependable. Last one, was at the beginning of September last year (booked in May through Voyage Prive), a large luxury villa in Zakynthos /Zante (Greek Island), 50 yards from the sea, pool, jacuzzi, enclosed and private, inc flights. 3 people for £975 for a week.

Cant fault either of them TBH. I have regular daily offers and updates via email, but you can opt out easily.

See, I'm the opposite. With few exceptions, I find visiting cities boring and claustrophobic. Having lived in London, which has lots of different flavours and areas, there are few cities in the world which can impress me.

I've been to most of the Cyclades and am going to Rhodes in the autumn (not Faliraki!). As Nascot says, there is something for everyone. The contrast from one island to the next is marked and some are truly breathtakingly beautiful.

    Plus they need your money.

This sounds very good. £975 for all of you, including flights and a villa! Bargain.

When I was in my early 20's I went to the Cyclades (Ios, Anti Paros and Paros) just island hopping for nearly 3 months, sleeping on beaches, using fishing boats to get about, etc - before they became really popular holiday resorts. I love 'em.

I'm yet to find a city as good as London, but I love exploring new ones anyway. I've not heard great things about Madrid so I'm not expecting much from that, but Nuremberg and Budapest last year were both brilliant places to visit.

Try Seville in Spain (if you've not already). A great city which still has a proper Spanish feel to it. Just don't go in the summer though.

Thumbs up for Nuremberg from me as well.

I do want to go to Seville, that is on my target list.

It is rare I go to the same place twice but Nuremberg was so good at Christmas that I am going again this year. It actually made Christmas feel like a special time of year again, it is an ace city.

Agree with your London comment. Great city to visit. If you have the £s and you don't mind long haul flights, try Cape Town and tie in a trip north for a short safari. An experience never to forget.

    Nuremberg. I agree, decent visit.

I went to a spa/sauna just outside the City with some of the employees of the Company I was visiting. We sort of had bit of an informal meeting in the sauna and spa area (apparently not such a strange occurrence in Germany). But, we were a mixed gender group and all naked for most of the time. My colleague from England who had previously been trying to chat up a marketing assistant who had joined us at the sauna, found it a bit awkward and embarrassing as he is a bit small in the "trouser" department.

I, however, obviously felt quite proud!

Any idea where abouts you will be working?

I'm actually in a large industrial estate, Sandyford, for my year... Think its about 5 miles south of the city centre
