(Madheider) I spoke to the Icelandic magician this morning and he said he would jump at the opportunity to sign for Watford again and that Mr boothroyd has already phoned him to ask if he would be interested in signing in January. HH has informed Coleman and Coleman told him that he would accept no less than £1.5m. The King shall return! http://boards.watfordfc.premiumtv.c...BackLink=mode=topics&action=show&iForumID=848 Would be good to see him back.. views please!
1.5 was what we sold him for wasnt it? the money was handy, could look at it as a loan.. lol, and to have him back would give us the badly needed prem striker with experience.
C&P from Foolham www site Icelandic international Helguson made the cross-London switch from Watford to Fulham in June 2005, following the completion of a four year deal - worth £1.1m - which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2009. So still plenty of time on the contract.
Much as I like HH I'm always a bit uncomfortable about ex-players returning. This is not a dig at Tommy Smith at all, it just never seems to work out as well 2nd time around.
Me too but I'm not sure there is any better at this price. H hasnt quite made it to no 1 in Foolham and I'd suggest he would be a definite no 2 here.
As much as I would like to see him back at the vic, I am not sure if it would work, he hasn't lit up fulham or been consistant with scoring and that is what we need a consistant scorer
He is third choice striker at Foolham.. how many goals can a 3rd choice striker get? i know he has got on the score sheet as often as he did for us percentage wise. The fact of the matter is he has scored in the premiership and I have seen one or two very nice goals, one against Middlesborough last season so it goes to show he can do what is needed, and if he comes back to us then he is likely to get a regular start and therefore have the chance more often to score. However as someone has already mentioned in an earlier post, 2nd time around doesnt always work!!! Catch 22
I have been thinking about this more since I posted that reply. Thinking back to past players that have returned to the vic. Tommy Smith - Jury still out Bruce Dyer - Was not the same player Luther Blisset - Came back 3 times and was the bussiness the second time but not much of an impact the 3rd time There are probably other players but can't think of them at this moment in time
To be fair, the second time around for bruce and the thrid time for luther they were much older players, tommy is still relatively young, as is heider!
I spotted and i think posted somewhere on here that he was interviewed by one of the dailies and has said that he has not and is not intending to approach fulham for HH. He did state in the same article that he was interested in loan signing smith from manure but didnt hold out much hope.
would love to have him back , his heading ability at set plays was always second to none , think him and young would make a good partnership
