Was terrible again today. His positioning in the box is terrible, and for our one target man should he not occasionally win a header in the box?

rubbish, he wordked hard today and unsettled two CBs who are normally very stable and reliable, he won his fair share of flick ons and linked up well with Young.
His positioning isn't bad, he's the in the centre to latch onto any high crosses. He's not there to be dashing near post to poke home thats what the likes of Francis, Smith, Young and Bouazza are there to do.

Don't blame Young's poor delivery on Hendo.

as awful as young's crossing is hendo is either standing on the penalty spot when crosses go near post when he should clearly be looking to get a touch or on the left wing trying to be macca (who incidentally should be starting every game)

Exactly he is in the centre, so why is Young putting in deep crosses or ones which don't clear the first man ??
lol at the macca suggestion, against both Accrington and Sheff Utd he's been pretty much non-existent and failed to make an impact. Not up to the required level by a long way and don't get me started on his lack of defensive capabilities.

hendo needs another striker to play with, which young is not. its almost like playing him on his own. i think we should swap smith and young round, and try playing them both ind their natural posistions

you'll notice that young is involved in the whole game but only ever has one or two good crosses all game (today's was wasted by hendo), macca may only be involved in the game 5 or 6 times a game but every time he puts on a great cross that a scoring opportunity comes from. he adds flair and gets the crowd going. it is a travesty that he doesnt play more, as against sheefff utd he was clearly our best player.

he wasn't our best player but i do think he runs at people and causes problems and i feel he should be given another chance

Have you noticed that Hendo is winning more flick ons in the last couple of games? Earlier in the season he was all over the place, but now he seems to be timing his jumping much better. All he needs to do now is score a goal or 6!

Worth a try. Would like to see Priskin instead of Smith up front though. Hendo needs a finisher along side him. Being kind Smith he is a little off target at the moment.

lol again, his crossing is marginally better than Young's and often his final ball is also not good enough.
5 or 6 times ?? Sorry but we can't be carryign players who are only going to be in the game for about 10 minutes, that is just ludicrous. Expect to see him leave next summer.

Hendo has had to change is style of play to suit the team after Marlon's injury.

If you remember last season, everything went through Marlon, the ball was hit through the channels and Hendo fed off a lot of the scraps that was generated off Kings movement. Now Hendo plays a bigger role and he is fighting on his own up there against two big centre backs.

You will see a much more confident Hendo when he is partnered with someone, hopefully Boothroyd will make the right signings in January to ensure it happens.

So when he misses an open goal like he has on more than one occassion this season that is someone elses fault as well is it?

just saw his chance from inside the box on motd. pathetic. he should have bloody smashed it using all the goal-drought and criticism anger inside of him rather than try and curl it. christ sake hendo. get a grip of yourself:mad:

if we offered him to every club in the premiership, not one would take him apart from maybe, just maybe charlton but they have the bent boys

As it has been said, Hendo plays off a main striker (last season, King) and with Ashley just cannot fill the role vacated by King as they are two completely different players.

Onto the discussion of crossing, Ashley Young has so many crosses this season but has failed to deliver the sort of quality we got used to last season. I can understand why some are calling for Macca, but to be honest I share the opinion that Smith and Bouazza are ahead of Macca. It is also not worth putting him on the bench since Aidy does not use subs.

Which shows that Young still has a long way to go before becoming a top consistent Premiership player and why we won't get the 5 million people think we would for Ashley.

Agreed Hendo needs a striker alongside him.

Please don't be deluded that noddy was or ever will be a striker. he has never been able to hit a cows ar$e with a banjo.

You can't blame Henderson or Young for yesterdays lack of finishing/crossing.

Henderson was the only one in the box for three of Young's crosses so he instantly attracted their two centre backs to mark him.

And when Young looks up to put a cross in all he sees if Henderson marked by two centre backs.

All other teams in the Prem either have two or more strikers waiting in the box or play with a lone striker with the midfield providing instant support. That is where Francis falls short. He should be doing everything he can to get in the box for the crosses. AB said he played Al Bangura to allow Francis to get forward. Which he didn't.

No, you can blame Young for the corssing as it was him that continually put in the dreadful crosses that were nowhere near anybody in a yellow shirt.

So who do you blame for yet another Henderson howler of a miss?

    Don't lose faith in Darius...

Hendo is having a goal drought, like all strikers do. I think the psychological step up has been hard for him, and he's missed chances that he would have normally buried. All he needs is a lucky scuffed goal and he'll start banging them in.

Yep, and that open goal, seconds before Man Utd got their winner, when it was 1-1...

But one could argue that he has had a few easy chances to get the ball rolling. I am not against him, I just like playing devil's advocate!

Hendo works very hard but gets pulled out of position to easy this is because he goes looking for the ball. He's winning flick-ons and Ash is now starting to get on the end of them but that is where it ends. What is poor is the communication between them for crosses Hendo goes short ash goes long ash goes short Hendo has gone long. If the partnership hasn't clicked yet i don't think it will. Only main disappointment Saturday was the lack of willingness to shoot. Hendo had two good changes but tried to pass when shooting would and should of been the only option. Make the two of them work on crosses in training for a couple of hours against defenders and a goalkeeper. The relationship between them needs working on.

    berkshirehorn presumably I upset/disappointed someone

Anyone mentioned how shot shy he's gone. the first half chance would have been buried by almost anyone else but hendo practically passed it back to their keeper instead of breaking the net with it. that's what happens when a lack of goals preys on a striker's mind.

Personally I think Hendo would have scored by now if King was fit. The two of them suited each others style of play.

I thought Hendo was going to be a massive player for us this season, I did expect him to score more than he has. I thought he’d get 10 goals this season. He has caused defenders problems and never gives up, but I think he is struggling because his touch isn’t as good as Kings and he is less creative. When King got the ball he could turn, shoot, goal.
Hendo prefers to receive the ball directly, no turning required to shoot, this season now with King injured he is forced to run the channels to seek the ball (King’s old job) and has less chances to score inside the box, which has affected his confidence. Also he has had less chances from headers because Premiership defenders tend to make fewer mistakes.

If we get a good strike partner for him, which we will, (I don’t think Aidy will replace him), I expect him to do well and score the goals to keep us up.

    hes a lazy useless.....
although he was slightly improoved against reading, the only time he really breaks a sweat is to get off the pitch after warm up/first/second half...
the people around me finally seem to be able to see it too (mainly because i spend much of the match swearing profusely at hendo... yes i no he cant hear me)

Sorry but that is absolute rubbish, he puts as much effort in as anyone else does. Playing on your own up front is a lonely job and a very disciplined one. You can't expect him to be hurtling around like a headless chicken chasing every single ball because he will be nakkered 30 minutes into the game.
