    Hi guys,

I had a brand new lawn laid yesterday and have woken up to parts of it being dug up by Foxes, not Leicester fans :D, but the real kind.

Has anybody got a way of getting rid of the barstewards that actually works as most of the solutions I have been looking up have not got very good reviews.

Shot guns are out unfortunately, but if you have a good old fashioned way of getting rid of the barstewards please PM me.

Are you sure its foxes rather than badgers ? Did you see them ? Badgers are notorious for digging up turf looking for worms etc and a newly laid turf would be perfect for them.

Not 100% certain, but we have seen foxes out there very recently and they are a bit of a regular problem around here, but I have never seen a badger so unlikely me thinks. Thanks though

We get both in our gardens. Foxes will eat worms but are really after small mammals and amphibians. Badgers usually dig for worms, beetles, etc and we often have bits of turf scuffed up on our lawn. Ex neighbours have had then burrowing under fences and into aviary etc. Of course it might just be some young foxes playing around. Do you back onto or have open countryside very near you ? If more urban it's less likely to be badgers.

Its could also be birds looking for leather jackets (some type of beetle larvae apparently) in which case unless you put netting across you're stuffed.

For mammals, ultrasonic scarers have varying success. The ones that BM are flogging for a tenner at the moment are good and solar powered (but put some tape over the top as their waterproofness is dodgy. But some other scarers don't work and some are audible and bloody annoying like all of the ones in Argos.
The other option is the infra red detectors you fit to a sprinkler head which have good reviews for getting shot of cats & foxes.

Your best bet is to make it harder for them to visit your garden than anyone elses. After discovering half a rabbit on my lawn I've installed plastic spikes on my fences and an ultrasonic scarer pointing away from the house and touch wood that seems to have worked.

I think you just need to believe in your lawn a bit more and the foxes will just go away.

After all, NO FOX IS BETTER THAN A BAD FOX :confused::confused::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Get a cheap night vision, movement activated ‘trail’ camera. You can find out who exactly is visiting your garden and enjoy the pics.

    From about £40.

Maybe Gino could take him off your hands and sign him up, might be the ‘fox in the box’ that we’re looking for.

Thanks for all your helpful hints, NOT.

Having said that some of you were actually helpful, so I really do thank you guys, but NOT the morons.

There is zero chance of stopping foxes or badgers visiting your garden. The only thing you can do is to peg down the corners of the turf with the plastic pegs you can get at garden places until they're very well rooted, which could be months.

Are the burrowing & the fact they are ex neighbours related?
