So it seems that everyone is linking us with him, but I think it is just specualtion by the journo's as adie said he's after a proven scorer, but apart from the massive wages he'd want would he be worth it?

Please God no! Xavier Graveline mark 2, but with less enthusiasm.

Yeh I’d have him, he could coach the youngsters/other strikers good techniques
    - Les Ferdinand Mark II (I think we miss him now he is no longer a coach).

I'd take him, but only on a strict 'pay-as-you-play' deal, maybe with a decent bonus for scoring goals. I'd only pay him a nominal retainer the rest of the time though.

That would be good, but unfortunately can't see it happening

    sulky greedy mercenary.

    not with a barge pole.

I'd take him like a shot!

Still knows where the goal is and would be playing week in week out unlike now where he's not playing much...would definatley score goals!

I think Fowler on loan in January would be a better shout though?

    Bubble Wise Oracle

Andy Cole on loan from Pompey possibly?

yeah, i'd go for cole if that was a possiblity but not hasselbaink or fowler.

can we afford the wages for these guys?

  10. Bubble

    Bubble Wise Oracle

Well we'd have to leave about £500k out the transfer kittie just to pay for their wages, so yeah we can afford them!

If we had a choice of Cole, Hasselbaink or Fowler i'd take Fowler

What are you on mate? Jimmy is none of those things!

He loves to play, he always gives 110% and he definitely not greedy.

He may be past his best, but he is far better than any of our current available strikers, and in the immortal words of Kevin Keegan.....

Iwould love it, just love it.....if we could get him to come to the Vic! :)

    LOL

Hasselbaink is/was one of the least popular players at chelsea/leeds/midddlesbrough.

I would hate it, just hate it ... if we could get him to come to the Vic!

Fair enough, we'll have to agree to differ.

However, I think you are going to be disappointed, because I have a strong feeling that jimmy is the experienced proven striker that Aidy has been talking about coming to the Vic lately! There is no substance to this, just a hunch on my part! ;D

John Hartson ;D ...i watched the West Brom Barnsley game on sunday, he was dire. Doesn't move anymore, just stands and moans!

Someone mentioned Robbie Fowler. I would definitely have him, again his coaching skills would be invaluable but he wont leave Liverpool for that very reason. Also despite the fact he isn’t playing the fans love him, and the fans I know (and who go regularly) want him playing instead of Bellamy.

He must be doing something wrong not to be getting into Charlton's side!

I think the Charlton prefer to play D.Bent upfront on his own with Reid playing just behind him?

    yes please...!

Probably get him on a free and then pay about £500,000 in wages for the remainder of the season.... sounds good business!!!

...rather that than pay 5 million or so for Nugent!!

Come on Floyd, you know you want to!!!!!

    If only. That'd be great.

I think he's sulky and greedy too, but in a very good way.

If he doesn't score he's frustrated- like the fans.

But when he does get the ball he usually smashes it in the onion bag. If thats greedy then it's a greedy player we need!!

hartson is almost as wide as he is tall nowadays. i also remeber him in harry smith's in St Albans kicking off once when he had just joined arsenal giving it the big i am.

it would be like signing mick quin again.

Hasselbaink would be fine if on a free because his wages would amount to the equivalent of a fee. perhaps if fowler is looking to invest in some properties down south he might come down, otherwise not. Andrew Cole, O'Conner from Moscow, or even Marcos Bent would be good options but i would really like Rossi from Man Utd

I really wanna say that JFH would be a terrible idea but the dark sinister even kinky side of me says me need him desparately!

    Bring him in..........

For those of you that go back to 1999, that's a very accurate analogy.

A friend at work is a Charlton season ticket holder. He has heard that JFH is very unpopular in the dressing room, as he only puts it in when he feels like it (oo-err!). No, what he means is that Jimmy only plays when he feels like playing (does that sound as bad, or is it just my warped mind?). Anyway, he's clearly a disruptive influence.

But he is a proven scorer at this level and, when the mood takes him, he is a class act. Two questions; can we afford/do we want, to be paying his sort of wages, and, can Adie harness that undoubted talent?

Have to agree with Berkshire, greedy player....definately wouldn't have him, would be a waste of money....if the board wanna waste that kind of cash , perhaps they can drop it off to me....I'd sooner see Priskin given a chance.
