One of the parents of one of the pupils on the same school bus (to the SEN school) as my son has complained to me that he's been making "..sexual gestures..." to her. This is it: It doesn't look like a schoolboy copulation gesture (I'd've thought that would be a finger into a fist) and I've questioned him about he has repeatedly told me that "...it's a ring thing..." and "...it's just a ring thing...". I've had a look online and I'm still none the wiser. What he's said makes me think is something to do with (or mocking) the US Xtian "Purity Ring" movement that's being used by the gamer community. Any suggestions?
I'm not a parent (still less of a child with SEN) but - even if he doesn't mean it as sexual, it seems clear that it could be misinterpreted as such: so shouldn't he just stop doing it?
He has been told to stop doing it BUT I'm intrigued to find out what it means and where it's come from.
This is not helping. As an aside I've recently had a renal stone. Part of the treatment is a 30 day course of tamsulosin (tamurex) which has an extremely unexpected "side-effect" (last one on the list). A side-effect that my current girlfriend finds "...hilarious...", so much so that I'm getting a lot of, what I believe de yoot call, 'action' from her at the moment.
The game we used to play at school was that if someone made that gesture and you looked at it (had to be below the waist to count) they got to give you a dig in the arm. It was voided however if you reacted quickly enough to poke your finger through the hole, which never happened.
I don't think it's sexual either. Have you considered asking her parents why she thinks this? It may give you a clearer idea to what your son may or may not possibly have been intending it to mean. Since there is no motion involved I think you can rule out the most obvious.
