Don't know whether I have put this picture on correctly but hey ho.

Correct Stevo. Only played there for a couple of seasons, I believe.

Which one? or did you see in to the future and i knew i'd correctly answer Warrington's other pic?!

PS Misspent childhood looking at pics of football grounds :) Actually i was also many years on the Football Ground Guide forum where they would have one of these guess the ground's going all the time. You pick things up.
I'm stumped on the other pic here though.

Actually they were there for 30 years. They built the place and later added those huge embankments using slag from an adjacent power station.

I'm guessing the Horns would have played there.

Like you Stevo, I could spend hours looking at pictures of old grounds. That sad, that I've actually gone out of my way to look for sites of old demolished grounds. They have so much more character than the new builds. The ground you are stumped on is one I have seen in its current state

    Is it South Liverpool?

My initial interest came before i was old enough to go visiting many grounds. It came from the pics & ground reviews that appeared in the old Football League Review's that used to be in the middle of the matchday program. Remember them?

I'm gonna need clues for that other pic. I'd guess Northern but demolished now yeah?

Sorry, what am I on about?

It's Peel Park, Accrington. I had a drink in the hotel on the corner when I went there last season.

Correct. They bought the main stand from the Aldershot Military Tattoo in 1958 !!

Yes, I remember the FL Review. Had a centre page team picture in each one.

I believe there is still part of a wall standing from that ground. The rest was taken up by the railway station for Liverpool Airport.

I think you've been clever here.. but that's Plough Lane. Just above the more obvious greyhound stadium.

Last one from me until Sunday.

Watford have played here, but it's probably fair to assume it didn't look like this at the time.

After searching for clues, I'll have a stab at The Northolme, Gainsborough Trinity. Can't remotely remember Watford playing them though. EDIT: Looked on watfordarchive.com, we played them twice in the FA cup 1908 and 1932. I might be wrong though!

The Nest, Norwich.. which by a strange co-incidence was the next one i was going to post!

For those that dont know it was a previous home of Norwich City which had a precarious cliff terrace and spectator lined roofs.

I think they did even back then as it was closed on safety grounds. Apparently they used to have mudslides and scores of people would be injured falling on the people in front.

    Easy one but great pic..

I haven't even looked at the aerial shot, I'm too busy being stuck on the other one. My first thought was Feethams, but I don't think so and now I'm getting the hump.

Afraid not. Watford only played there 4 times in the league
