I'd say Ayresome too for that last one.

Well the main ground has to be Hampden Park? Don't know the others without looking them up, so I will leave it to others who might know!

I was going to give a clue about a football writer (Brian James) who once wrote this of the place.. "A frontier post of football indeed, guarded only by sheep. Nothing moves out there. And the notion that a ball kicked over the wall would go bouncing until it dropped off the end of the world is hard to shake off"

Yes. The home of Third Lanark who went out of the league in 1967. Large parts of the terracing and crush barriers are still there 50 years on.

    The ground looked like this

Southport. We beat them 3-2 at home in 1978 which might have been their last ever game in the FL. They failed to get re-elected and Wigan replaced them

    Yes. Haig Avenue, Southport.

It was their last ever league game.

Being a technical numpty this may not work. Assuming I have mastered something new at my ripe old age - where is this Watford game? And who were the opposition?

South Tyrol XI at South Tyrol in Italy, summer 2013? Reminds me of a YT video WFC made then. Still haven't a clue what #407 is though, Warrington

NorthHarrow has the right venue but the wrong opposition. Yes, summer of 2013.

Thames AFC? Was primarily a greyhound stadium hence the shape. If I am right - that's an impressive find/research Warrington, hats off to you.

If I'm wrong then I guessing another huge greyhound stadium such as the famous Belle Vue stadium in Manchester but I'm not sure we ever played there (maybe after the war when Old Trafford was bombed?). Or SE London like Catford or Crayford but surely they were never that big.

Got it. Had a look back through disused greyhound & speedway stadiums and it can only be one venue, cause of it's size.
It's the former West Ham Stadium.. one time home of Thames fc.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Ham_Stadium
It was interesting to read the history of this as i didnt know too much before.
Designed by the main man himself Archibald Leitch it was said to hold 120K.. the largest in the country at the time. Despite it's size it still holds the record for the lowest ever football league attendance.. 469 fans paid to watch Thames play ....Luton Town :) on 6 December 1930. Thames fc were only in the league between 1930 and 1932 and only in existence for 4 years. No real surprise with crowds like that!

Some great reading here for those interested.. http://archistadia-en.blogspot.no/2...ium-speedway-custom-house-london-history.html

    * While writing i see i was pipped to the post above!

Watford played Watford. 35mins each way. After the pre-season game with Nice (I think it was Nice) was cancelled. Mals/Malles in South Tyrol. Probably the most beautiful place I have ever watched a game, albeit only a training session really
