Gray or Deulofeu

Who should start on Sunday ?

 

Stick with Deulofeu and do the tried and tested switcheroo in the second half. Deulofeu is the better player, but Gray is a fantastic impact player, and that's not to damn him with faint praise at all

 

I voted no based on the fact that deulofeu is better than gray in every single regard, apart from who's got the best tats.

 

What about dropping Pereyra, playing Deulafeu wide and Gray up front?

I would rather bench Perreyra too, as he only shows up about one game in 4 or 5, whereas Deulofeu shows up in virtually every game.

It's possible both Deulofeu and Gray will play. Pereyra picked up a hip injury last night and was why he came off.

That may have been precautionary, but he must be a doubt.

At this point I would probably drop Pereyra for Gray and move Deulofeu wide left regardless of Pereyra's fitness. He's had a weak second half to the season, Deulofeu is our biggest consistent threat and Gray has earned a start.

 

Although on paper this makes sense, is the cup SF the correct game to do something different? Seems Javi is making the correct calls this season so I guess we’ll see.

But would be a bit worried if his call was Sema.

Pereyra isn’t definitely out? And he would offer a lot on the basis that last time we played them, he was brilliant. They’d naturally be worried about him - and he’s just had another son this week. Can imagine he’d be on cloud 9 and that can only be positive from a performance point of view.

And sadly putting ‘Deulofeu on the wing’ and ‘keep it tight’ don’t work together. I’m not fooled by his tracking back against Palace in one occasion - Deulofeu has shown an unwillingness to do his defensive duty more often than not. Pereyra likewise but I would say he’s marginally better in that regard.

Gray has been brilliant off the bench. If we put him on from the start, that means Success is the striker on the bench. If we are chasing the game with 15-25 to go, I know who I would rather have on.
