But we did have him, and QSF managed to get a tune out of him.

As you rightly point out, we had a championship quality side but a manager who somehow kept them up with months to spare. A truly remarkable achievement.

Joka managed to make a tune out of him. I'll give credit to QSF for selecting their most in form forward and for sticking everyone behind the ball. Little else, as our chance creation was pretty poor that year.

With Ighalo converting chances at that season's rate, other average Championship-quality managers would have kept us up.

Luckily the Pozzos knew that keeping QSF would have led to certain relegation and binned him for the far more talented Mazzarri.

It's true what you said in your last sentence, although every fibre & instinct personally prefers QSF, the fag smoking Mazzarri was/is the more talented out of the two.

& it hurts to say that.

Joka was a championship quality manager and to compare him with QSF is laughable, considering he failed spectacularly with a far superior fulham squad than the hapless terds QSF had to play with.

I quite agree with you about Mazzarri. Injuries and our pathetically weak minded players who couldn't cope with discipline did for him.

Not so much weak minded as entitled and lazy.

Don't think his lack of English helped, but fundamentally the players got upset about working hard for their astronomical wages.

His tactics were the most negative I have ever seen from a Watford manager. He was also utterly clueless.

I stopped being a season ticket holder for a number of reasons, but he was the final straw.

I just can't agree. On the rare occasion he had a full squad to pick from we looked utterly sensational.

He was forced to play that way as we were down to the bare bones of the squad. Those negative tactics were what was required to keep us up. It was horrific to watch, I don't deny it.

Mad Walt was the only man big enough to see that Deeney wasn’t up to it and tried to phase him out. Unfortunately he wasn’t big enough to drive Deeney out of the club, which probably did for him in the dressing room.

I reckon if we’d sold Troy that summer, things might have been different. Maz was a bit mental though. Double keepers on the bench to finish up was class from the guy.

It was the most brilliant "**** you" a football manager can give to the fans. And our odious fans deserved it that season.

Rumour has it he only decided to do that when he saw that goblin woman with her home made sign telling him to f off. You know, this one:

Apparently he paid the $499 dollars to ***** Images for the large print of this and has it framed in his impossibly stylish Italian bog to remind him of the ingrates at Watford.

I started after seeing the lineup feeling sorry for Quina and Penaranda.

I ended it as angry as I've ever been seeing Sarr and Welbeck sitting on a bench as our gurning idiot of a coach looked on confused.

    Out. Tonight.

It's getting to a point where, arguably, not sacking Javi is riskier than keeping him. Barring a miracle it'll be 0 wins from 7 games and very likely only 1 point. It's hardly a given that we'd beat Sheffield United either.

Get rid now and give the new manager the international break to sort it.

I say this with regret, as I like Javi and appreciate what he has done for us. Be interesting to see how many people try defending his position at this stage.

I agree Folkestone. We need a new man in ASAP - we are a shambles and look like a team that has never played together - we played not to loose today and were dominated by a poor Newcastle team.

The substitutions were strange - if Welbeck and Sarr can’t give us at least 30 mins at full throttle then why put them on the bench.

We were crying out for pace (Sarr) and some guile (Delofeu) and could of done with Quina in for Cleverly too.

Yes he changed formation but having 3 CBs that look lost was worse than watching 2 ..... The organisation from back to front is poor, no pressing, no desire to win 2nd balls .... I think Javi has lost key players support in the dressing room.

This fall from Grace happens to the best managers, mourinho, conte, Wenger - so no disgrace.

Thanks for last season Javi, but it’s time to go our separate ways now.

  19. Everything about that game management was bizarre from Gracia.

A manager who knows he's a dead man walking already?

A manager who's kicking his toys out of the pram because he didn't get players he wanted?

There is absolutely not an ounce of justification for having Sarr and Welbeck on the bench and not using them, and for leaving deulofeu off for so long, plus bringing of all people Success on.

    Bizarre.

    Something seems most definitely up.

Tuesday night was a breath of fresh air, we played decent football and had an identity with real width. I was excited to see a similar formation played today but what I saw I’m still lost for words. I can’t believe how Javi can get it so right 1 game and so wrong the next. We had no plan going forward what so ever and the goal was very fortuitous. The more I think about last season, the more I believe that any success we had was down to individual players abilities and Javi had no effect on the matter. Now players aren’t performing, Javi is up **** creek, he is the most clueless manager. I think any fan could have picked a lineup, formation and substitutes to win that game. It was completely there for the taking. Javi , get out of our club now before it’s too late to turn around and take that piece of **** Femenia with you

We get an away draw against a side that won away at Tottenham. excellent result it was and our fickle fans still want Javi out. The most successful we have had since the late and great GT. We don't deserve him I tell ya. Poor Javi, it's just heartbreaking reading these vicious comments.

I understand your point of view. I like Javi and am grateful for last season. But we live in the present. What is more important - being nice to a man whose recent record is little short of dreadful and getting relegated - or biting the bullet and sacking him now. Do we want to spend next year in the Championship and have to start all over again? We are now 10 points behind last season. That gives us only 40 points unless for the next 34 games we out perform last year. 40 points could well be relegation this year.
I don't want to see Javi go but think he has to.
