Just got in and heard this on SSN.
Odd.

 

A bunch of sources. Lots of pretty reliable journalists on twitter - Mike McGrath, Graeme Bailey, Kaveh from Sky etc. Apparently having a medical as we speak. Pretty odd one as I thought Perica would be our Deeney replacement and also Murray will be on loan but only has a year left on his contract.

Not really. The sort of signing that will help shoot us to promotion. Most relegated clubs sign a 37 year old striker. This is a great move.

Also, with the departure of the older players, we might not have the oldest squad in the Championship otherwise. This is needed.

I know he is 36, but he would be an ideal replacement for Deeney, and an improvement on him too. He would probably smash the Championship defenders and we only need him for one season to help get us back to the PL.

I can’t even be bothered to blow a fuse! Just give up with our scouting ability at this point.

 

Excellent signing. Obviously not going to start every game but certainly knows where the goal is, couldn't say the same about what we have at the moment.

I doubt he’s going to play alongside Deeney. I reckon the idea - and I’m not sure I’m on board with this - but the idea is that we get the experience and target man qualities of Deeney on a (much?) lower wage. But I’m a bit puzzled as to why we’d need 4 strikers (Suarez, Gray, Murray, Perica + Success and Penaranda) if we’re playing 4-3-3.

Yep. I thought 'strange signing but I can get behind it as he does score goals'. Turns out I was thinking of 18/19 Glenn Murray who scored 15 in 42, rather than last season's 1 in 23 merchant.

He would be a great impact sub if we need a goal, he's no longer good for the PL, but I reckon he would terrorise championship defenders.
