I agree £12m is on the low side.

But - covid, injuries, inconsistent and likely no clubs willing to pay £20m. Don't see that anything he has done in Italy so far has pushed his price up either so he was a (slowly) depreciating asset as it stood. I think he's worth more - much more on his day - but the market conditions and other factors were clearly against us.

I think I would have settled for £17-18mil, but £12mil is an insult.

 

Idve expected £7-12m for this deal. £12m for a regularly injured fanny merchant is a good deal. Now we can buy Vydra.

 

Pre-ACL he was £20-25m. After relegation perhaps that drops to £15-20m if he’s the same level, but to be honest I’ve not watched him for Udinese so I don’t know how badly he’s suffered from it.

The English market and the Spanish and Italian markets are very different in this environment, there might be mid-table English clubs who have £20m to spare in this window (the summer window was relatively normal, even though there's been very little business done this month), but not to spunk on someone who hasn't shone since a big injury. Estupinan was one of the biggest deals all summer in Spain, not sure about Italy, but I don't imagine there'll be many deals bigger than £12m, especially when you consider it's not real money

I guess it gives an indication of how much they wish each entity to invest. So the Pussetto fiasco moved £7m from us to them and they still currently have the player. If we are scratching around for a loan fee I imagine that £7m would have been useful over here in the short term!

Agree with others, seeing the technical quality of capoue, pereyra, deulofeu, even holebas, and welbeck leave the squad we have now and not a penny to rebuild is gut wrenching

 

I don't think we have cornered the market for those type of supporters.
Just console yourself with the fact that intelligent football people understand that creative players give away possession more than neat and tidy nuts and bolts type.

I strongly suspect it will be far less than £12m for a move to Udinese. I'm just interested in where this figure has come from as it seems to have been plucked out of the air.

To be honest, with fees being instalments and this being a Pozzo move, the overall fee itself is irrelevant at the moment. The most important thing is have they freed up some funds for us to strengthen this window? If they haven't then they we are ****ed.

 

It is in the low side, but that’s the reality of relegation.

The owners are chumps for getting us relegated, but once we were our hands were tied with transfer fees.

In the premier league nobody really needs to sell when you’ve got a guaranteed £100m in prize money coming in. If the buying club want the player, in most cases they have to pay over the odds of anything, it has to be worth the selling clubs while otherwise there is no point.

Once you’re relegated you’re working against a ticking clock, you need to sell players, the situation completely reverses.

It’s disappointing but it is what it is.
