Whisperings on the bird app that Burnley and Palace are both looking at the possibility of taking Deulofeu on loan.

  3. I actually don't mind Knockhart. Pretty decent top championship player and I wouldn't be opposed to getting him in when Fulham realise he's not good enough for the premier league.

Let’s have all those people claiming we’ll definitely keep him because of his injury then. There were plenty on here.

It's Catalan unfortunately, can't help there! @hornetboy1 do you know Catalan?

I doubt anyone would risk buying him until he's played some games to prove his fitness.

Was hoping we could keep him until January at least, but even that was optimistic. Oh well, will be sad to see him leave, but hopefully we get a good price for him and we can keep the other crown jewels

What about someone like Sevilla, who are in the Champions League next season and have got to the Europa League final, presumably they'll have some money, but will need rotation options (and if he proves his fitness, he could also seriously challenge for a starting spot). I know he was there before and flopped, but just thinking aloud here

  15. I don't think people were saying definitely, more hoping his injury would keep out for a few more months and make it less likely he would go before Jan. Personally I think he was always likely to go this summer even if we stayed in the Prem.

Shame, but it was always going to happen. Didn't believe it would happen until January though.

When we got relegated, one of the worst prospects was losing the likes of Geri, would still be gutted to see him leave, but the signs from the club are positive wrt keeping the likes of Sarr, Estupinan and Suarez, which would soften the blow somewhat!

    'If he proves his fitness'

That's the thing. After an ACL, for a player who relies on speed and agility, it's a massive risk for a club to buy him as of now.

Unless it's a cut price deal which Gino won't allow.

Not really a surprise he doesn't want to play in the Championship. Of course he doesn't. Just whether he proves fitness to buyers before the window closes is a big doubt.

We should not let him go for peanuts even if he wants to go.

If someone wants him, but tries to knock the price down because he has not fully recovered from his injury, we should say we want top dollar for him NOW if you want him, or if not come back when he is fully fit with a better offer, otherwise he is going nowhere.

That way we keep him until January at least, or we get what we want for him NOW!!!

No doubt it will be a loan to permanent signing. As @Supertommymooney said ACL injury is a massive risk to the buying club. I suppose it would help getting his massive wages out of the way. He must be o e of the highest earners.

Sure, but for a club like that, they'd have other options, would be a decent punt for a bench option

Marca have transcribed some (all?) of the interview.

    https://www.marca.com/futbol/barcelona/2020/08/19/5f3da034ca47418b1a8b4585.html

Gerard Deulofeu was the last to join the skepticism that the arrival of Ronald Koeman has generated in a sector of Barcelona and football in general. The ex-Azulgrana, who spent half a season with the Dutch coach at Everton, was comfortable with the new Bar*a coach and with his old club in an interview on "El Club de la Mitjanit" on Catalunya Radio and later on The Onda Cero.

    Koeman
Ronald Koeman gave me nothing as a coach during the six months I was at Everton. We'll see how he does at the Camp Nou.

    The situation at Bar*a
The truth is that Bar*a doesn't give me any pity, in fact, right now I don't care.

    The quarry
In Barcelona they have not had patience with the quarry for years. If you give them time, they learn the style of the first team. There are players, many of us have left there, but not patience. Now there will be changes, but they are years behind schedule.

    Designated players
For me, the list of players they don't have is very strong. We are talking about players who have won and given everything for and for Barcelona. But it is a club issue, and they will manage.

    Possible departure of Messi
I don't know what will happen to Messi because I am not in his head, but I would not like him to leave Barcelona. He has made history there and I would love for him to continue. He has had a scandal career.

    Knockout against Bayern
The defeat against Bayern was terrible, also because of the unexpected. It impressed me, they were airplanes. The Champions League has these things, if you don't wake up, they pass you by.

    His injury
More than 5 months have passed and I am as high as I can be. I have taken it all very positive. Today I have already had two training sessions. There is no fear, no rush, but I am wonderful. I miss this.

    His future
My time at Watford will end this summer. I still don't know where I'll go. LaLiga is an option.

A further quote from GD when asked about AC Milan: "I don't deny it's an option for my future. I was tremendously happy there, I spent six wonderful months, where my daughter was born. Clearly it is a possibility. I'm trying to find a way out with Watford."

He really doesn't want to stay does he!

Don’t blame him. Too good for the championship. Hope Milan have £20mil to spend so he can get his dream move back there.

Watford need to get a grip here. Whilst you can’t control players vocal chords, it’s open season at the moment for players saying what they want. The club need to reassert some discipline. Deulofeu, along with others, are contracted to the club - end of story. Is anyone genuinely of the belief that Estupinan and Suarez are going to turn up to training, no questions asked? I’ll be amazed if they turn up.

That said, his words are painful. I suspect we haven’t been able to get players like him to sign for us permanently without making fairly big promises about progression - I think we have made promises to players and very likely hoodwinked a few. Deulofeu probably signed permanently on the basis we would improve throughout the squad - and then saw Dawson signed and Deeney as his No.9

Rude but that's modern football for you. A bit of class wouldn't go amiss Gerard.

A brilliant player but he hasn't found a permanent home for a reason though mind.

26 and still inconsistent, wonder how many Champions League campaigns he'll play in his career?

Thanks for some wonderful memories, get this kind of toxic out sooner rather than later so the dressing room atmosphere is right and all on the same page otherwise this will be disastrous. The same applies to Doucoure. Let's get a move on Gino.

Only needs their agent or the player to kick off and he'll be off (I mean we sack managers at the drop of a hat if they start argument with the Pozzos..)

Credit to Sarr for suggesting he wants to stay but that could just be good PR on his part.

The transfer window is a long period of time - I just hope we are prepared if these players do move on.

It's not that simple sadly, especially when the player is pushing for a move.

It's clear his time is up, but I think he may have gone even had we still been in the Premier League. However, I just don't see Watford selling him. It's a depressed market and he's just coming back from a serious knee injury. It's going to be a while before he's ready for first team action.

What I think will happen is he'll go out on loan. He's desperate to play for Milan, but they don't seem quite so keen on him. Either way, he certainly doesn't want to be with us anymore, and is another casualty of relegation.

He’s not the first player to do try and force a move, but I think it’s unprofessional for players to do this. There appears no deal in place for him, and we may not get a particularly good deal at the moment, given his injury. I don’t think the club should just rush a move to suit. Any move should be an upfront fee
