Poor ******* bloke . Been with Barca most of his life and he now he ends up with this shower of sh1t.
GD does say that he wants to get us to the other end of the table. Given we’re slap bang in the middle, this is open to interpretation. Refreshing, though, to see someone who’s not a Bigtime Charlie coming in. Looks a good stabilising influence for the run in.
I saw that we are due £1m if he signs for someone for more than £20m in the summer. Therefore I presume an offer of around £19m should do the trick. We need him to be good, but not too good, not Richie good, up until May, then sign him and then he can be really, really, really good.
I’ll settle for him being really, really good now. Keeping us up single-handedly. And then staying at Barca and becoming the new Messi and we can say it was all down to us and letting him play with Marvin Zeegelaar. We can then sign a under-19 international from Chad in the summer.
I liked his mention of defending as well as scoring and making goals. I thought his English would be more fluent, but perhaps he was just being careful about what he was saying.
Haven't heard the interview but when you say "mention of defending" did he just smile and say "its ok Holebas will do that" ?
Great deal from Gino and co. if this is true: http://sportwitness.co.uk/watfords-complicated-deulofeu-deal-free-e1m-potential-full-refund-summer/
Great debut last night, made a couple of sublime passes. Hope he doesnt get demotivated when he realises he is supplying the worst forwards in europe.
I disagree that it’s insignificant, we’ve signed a player from Barca to the end of the season who probably won’t cost us a pennny in transfer fees. There is also no evidence of the method of payment (& prob not 18m as we know) for Grey. i.e. ‘spunked’. Yet.
You would hope that we would get the deal done behind closed doors before the summer and just pay 20 million as soon as the transfer window opens.
We need him to be really good for the next 4 games, so that he wins them singlehandedly and then gets benched or forced to play centre back for the rest of the season so that other clubs just see mediocre stats and are frightened off, because we know that most clubs won't look deeper than that. "3 assists and 2 goals during 6 months at Watford? He's not worth 20m"
I've only just seen the match, and I must say how pleased I was to see Deulofeu in a Watford shirt. He didn't disappoint either. He was bright and lively. Looking to make things happen and showed real quality. I'm hoping this will be infectious and inspire the others and give them that bit of belief. I think it's a case of enjoy him while he's here, although I'd love it if we signed him in the summer. Wonderful player, and it's players like this I'll happily pay my ticket to watch. Can't wait to see the link up between him and Kiko......that will be a bit special.
I like him because, yesterday, I got his name and number put on my son's birthday present for "free" in the club shop. That's a good omen.
I would say, even at this early stage of his Watford career, he's the best player i've ever seen play for our club. The boy can be world class.
The only thing that disappointed me when this transfer completed was the lack of an option to sign permanently. Showed sparks of brilliance in his first loan spell at Everton and I liked the look of him then. Totally shocked that Koeman didn't fancy him and let him leave. Would love to think his form can continue for us and we could get hold of him permanently in the summer, but it just feels like one of those where he'll either play so well there will be offers above our station, or like the Niang situation, he won't want to return. Either way, top start for him and his performance tonight will live long in the memory. Just looks like the kid has time and space even when surrounded by 2 or 3 opposition shirts.
Based on what we saw last night he's purely too good for us and will end up at a bigger club. Saying that let's see what happens when he's put up against a better team/more compact unit.
Shame hes not here with view for a perm. But letsmake him enjoy it here and he might return when hes old and his legs have gone in 2026.
Sometimes a player is just a good fit at a club, perhaps that may be the case for Deulofeu and Watford FC. He’s always been talented beyond belief, but held back by his consistency. It’s not out of the question that a prolonged spell with a club like us would appeal to him, a chance to play every week and be the focal point of our attack while he develops the consistency required to play for the type of club his natural talent SHOULD see him playing for.
Deulofeu will only be at Watford for the rest of this season. I'm 99% sure of that. He wants to be a first teamer at a big club, this is his ambition. He's already at the biggest, (and Barca as well ). He's at Watford purely to play regularly and get into Spain's world cup squad. He's been smart about this. He could have stayed at Barca, and been on the bench or even out of the squad. That would get him nowhere near the national squad though. So, he had to make a decision. The best fit was to go to the Premier League to get maximum exposure, at a club that will play him and where he can shine. Watford having a Spanish coach sealed the deal. It's all about the world cup, but on the back of that, we'll benefit massively.
if you had to have deulofeu's hair cut for a year or watson's, whose would you pick? I mean deul-boys is absurd, but watson is ginger....
