My experience in the workplace has been that where there is a negativity problem, it usually stems from one or two people who bring the more easily influenced workers along with them. Remove those one or two bad influences and the rest can be salvaged.

It wouldn't surprise me if that's the case at the club, too.

There is a police instructor in the US who has quoted in relation to the recent tensions (K.L. Williams). His observation from years of experience training police officers is that inside a police force, you can count on 15% of officers to always do the right thing, 15% are bad apples, and the other 70% can go either way depending on who they happen to be partnered up with. I think there are probably strong parallels with our squad at the moment.

This is definitely true, I knows it’s fashionable now for companies to talk about their ‘culture’, but my last company were obsessed with it and to be fair they did not tolerate any negativity or bad apples. You were either onboard or you weren’t, it wasn’t an environment that was for everybody but anybody negative lasted no more than 2 seconds. My company before that was the exact opposite, there were a few old guard that had been there years, they moaned about everything but would never leave. The negativity spread like a cancer, you could see people adjusting the way they were just to have something to talk about with them and eventually each other. Before long it becomes the norm for people to be bitching and moaning about everything all because of a couple of negative people.

Yeah, watching the Sunderland doc, it really struck me how many good people there were, even in their squad, but when you've got a handful of bad apples, what can you do? I almost don't care where we end up this season, as it does look like the ones that play will be the ones that give a ****. Even the Oxford game I was looking forward to a lot more than some of our Premier League games, we didn't play well, but it wasn't a lack of effort

  6. I think I'm taking a few weeks off from watching us. Definitely not forking out £10 to watch this shítshow vs Newport.

So despondent with the dire tripe we are serving up now and with the wantaways.

Just going to leave it until the transfer window and come back then.

Just to depressing to give it any of my time.

I'm not really bothered by the football quality (who thought it would be decent? Ha) but this season is great so far. Like the first episode of game of thrones season 2 or 3. Not sure how its going to pan out but I hope they do well against those savages from luton/beyond the wall. But there's a sense of dread keeping me on edge that they might injure Jon Snow with a late tackle, or stick an arrow through Joao Pedros neck.

It's funny how the same people who are defending the exclusion of the 'injured' wantaways were the exact same people who denied our squad was rotten to the core for the whole of last season.

We have some strange fans. Undeterred by being proved comprehensively wrong last season they will double down in their defence of how the club is run even if it clashes completely with previous views that the club culture wasn’t toxic. I’m honestly not sure what state we’d need to get into under our chaotic ownership for them to doubt themselves. A very odd bunch.

Probably the ones who remember when we have had much much worse situations in their minds ?

There are even comments around saying it's good we went down and they might prefer seeing "young hungrier " players.

Anyway we have never had the fans who protest and boo really like you might at West Ham or Newcastle..

Even at particular games when we have rubbish it generally seems to be a case of just leave early and shrug shoulders.

Explains a hell of a lot about the conduct of US police doesn't it! Would imagine the figures are more positive in the UK.

I think Vlad is the key, if he is given a half decent squad I think he will do us proud, but if he has everyone sold out from under him then sadly I will probably be entering the Pozzo Out Faction.

So come on Gino give Vlad a fighting chance please.

It took us 17 league games to get two wins under our belt last season. This season we've won two out of the first three, beaten the filth and don't have to put up with VAR.

The problem we're still facing is that, whilst we're now in the final week of the general transfer window, we still have to contend with the ludicrously conceived, seemingly tailor-made purely to **** over the three relegated teams, PL to EPL window, which runs for a further 11 days after the end of the domestic/international window.

I didn't fully appreciate how it worked before, and I can't quite believe it's a thing that has been allowed to come to pass; it's insane, and can only work to our detriment, from what I can see. We could see all kinds of heartbreak between the close of the 'transfer window' and the time when no club can actually come and raid us.

I'm not 'pessimistic', but it will make it pretty hard to strap in and say I'm properly excited until we see what, if any, damage has been wrought by that perfidious extra period.

Well, yes and no. I'm not well up on this, so might take some criticism, but I thought the extension was partly at the EFL clubs' request. In any case, it sounds like swings and roundabouts: Watford, for instance, want to get rid of a number of players, whom they can't afford. I get that a massive downside from us fans' perspective would be losing, say, Sarr or Pedro. On the other hand, we have just got rid of Pereyra, which, in my book, is as good a bit of business as we have done in a while.

Yes, but in our/this case, getting rid solely to Premier League clubs for whom any other opportunities for buying have already been and gone does not put us in an advantageous position, and obviously, I don't care about whether 'we' might want to get rid of players or not, I want to keep the ones that will help us get promoted. And let's be honest; if Femenia still finds himself here on October 6th, are Prem clubs going to swoop in and relieve us of him? No. They're coming for bloody Hughesy, and his ilk.

Normally I’d agree, but given how cowardly and pathetic a lot of the ‘performances’ were last season if any player wants to leave then I’d hate for us to keep them. If that becomes a major clear out and we are left with a supposedly lesser squad that wants to try their best, wants to play for Watford and are all pulling in the same direction then that’s fine by me.

I do get your point and that's fine, of course, but at the same time the inherent talent of those players are the USP/unique advantage that we have as one of the relegated teams, and whether we're pulling in the same direction or not, a collection of the kids and most seasoned pros that we have seen at times so far shouldn't really be considered to be more likely to get promoted than 10-15 other teams in this division.

Scores of players have been frozen out at clubs, downed tools and displayed terrible attitudes, with no future there whatsoever, only to actually end up being brought back into the fold and playing succesfully once more. Under a coach like Ivic, we might even reasonably expect for those players to either start by themselves or be made to be a bit less pathetic, given his clear modus operandi.

Further to that, of course, is the fact that we won't be able to bring anyone in in response to a departure during this period. We can all envision plenty of scenarios in which that leaves us rather short with nowhere to turn for any required inspiration.

    Really exciting stuff.

Selling players, players refusing to play, being linked with utter dross, not scoring any goals, playing the best player in the league out of position.

    Good times.

And no natural striker atm until Gray gets fit or Deeney plays which isn't exactly the most exciting thing to look forward to.

Wait until we bring in 31 year old players who were bit parts in this league and rated as crap by those who watched them. Licking my lips.
