I can imagine you'll look something like this, forcing yourself to enjoy the football-fest that is Team Ranked World's #41 vrs. Team Ranked World's #37. I wish you well.
Hopefully will play a blinder and we can sell for £25m. A bit like Armstrong after the 1982(?) W Cup !
And then you the ‘Filipino’ curve ball. Must struggle to field a full team given the grammatical mine field.
He just was! Btw, am I the only one irritated by the Sputnik font for names on the shirts. Having 17-11 vision I don't need glasses but my god it's hard to read them.
Given player price inflation since then its probably nearer £50m in todays money What was it £200k or something ?
YES! What drama, an own goal two minutes into stoppage time. The Islamic Republic of Iran win, the first Asian country to win since records began.
Blimey - that winner for Iran looked for all the world like a Doyley header. Shame it was at the wrong end...
Watching Morocco v Iran reminded me how much I hated vuvuzelas, (if that's what they were). I've always wondered if that's what's going on in African football fans heads, a constant naaaaaaaaaaaaaa. How else could you find them anything but ****ing annoying?
Ronaldo could go on for years but you might worry a bit for Portugal when he does finally stop playing. Spain as expected looked like a side unaffected by the management change and Costa is a real beast when on song. Both teams ought to win the next 2 games so the goal difference might come in handy and on tonight's evidence there might be a few.
Just watched the highlights back and what an absolute belter that game was. Apart from the De gea error it was a display of supreme quality from both sides. That Nacho goal was absurdly good, and then Ronaldo's free kick was mm perfect. After underwhelming at all his previous world cups, with three goals already and Morocco and Iran to play he’s got to be a good bet for the golden boot already.
Hes not bad is he that Ronaldo? Take away Ronaldo and Portugal are less than average. They actually only had 3 shots on target including a great free kick, a penalty and a keeper howler. Spain were good, they're not near their best of a few years back and for the amount of possession held, I dont think they have enough incision, but thats countered by having Costa up front who will batter the door down if Iniesta and co can't pick the lock.
First time Ronaldo has made any impression at a WC and he is the greatest ? A penalty and a keeper howler ? No matter what Messi is the best passer, dribbler and finisher on the planet. Mentioning all these Ballon D'Or's which are glorified awards not based on facts are meaningless. Anyone who can not see this has not really got much of a clue about football. And that is often Sporting Lisbon, Real Madrid, Manchester United fans. It's like comparing Federer and Nadal. One is a sublime genius who makes the game effortless and a joy to watch (pretty rare in the modern era of power hitting and big serves) the other has worked incredibly hard to get where he is. And for that you cannot fault Ronaldo. He has made the most of his abilities. But he is not even the greatest Portuguese footballer. Eusebio is. I'm pretty sure Messi could not care less if he did not score one goal this World Cup so long as his team and he wins the ultimate prize. It's a long shot given that Sampaoli has had far less time to work with this team compared to all the other contenders and there have been injury concerns and notable omissions but I'm sure he will step up. After all it's not as if he hasn't done before. A great game though. Certainly sparked the WC. Spain will be kicking themselves for not really going for the kill at 3-2 and dragging off Costa. You never know Morocco could pull off a surprise result and one of the Iberian two might be going home early.
A Spain-based forum sage would be useful to help us navigate through the perennial Messi/CR7 conundrum.
That game last night was absolutely brilliant. Danny Murphy: "he isnt getting it over the wall from there".... its Ronaldo mate... Also, that French lineup ia terrifying. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
Was not a clear and obvious error from the ref in the first place. Certainly couldn't complain if it hadn't been given. However the Aussies one was very clear cut!
I'm wondering how they fixed the goal-line technology to show that the ball had crossed the line for the winner.
Well it confused Johnathan Pearce at the last World Cup! At this rate Argentina will need the same good fortune .
Why do co commentators like Keown Lawrenson and Hoddle say "wasn't it?" or "isn't it?" after a sentence. No-one is going to answer them with a Yes and it's so annoying.
