Yes, very interesting. He's been an ever present all season before tonight. Bordeaux won 2-1 at Angers, so unless he's injured, it seems likely he could have been dropped because he is in talks with another club.
Transfermarkt suggests he missed their game against Nice at the weekend and a cup game last midweek too... Edit: He was on the bench against Nice. Shows how useful that website is.
Just going on youtube vids and stats, ability and potential wise I'd say Cornet >> Kamano >> Thuram. Cornet and Kamano both seem like they'd be good players for us, Thuram appears a bit more erratic still. I really would be surprised if we signed Kamano though, as if we were to try and play him and Pereyra at the same time they'd be constantly stepping on each other's toes.
I don’t think the club think in terms of just focussing on the immediate needs of the first team. I think they see any transfer window as a chance to do business for both the present and future and are constantly on the look out for opportunities. Didn’t we sign Doucouré or someone in January and then his arrival was deferred to summer (not totally sure if I’ve remembered this right)? Also think it’s a little bit of a fallacy (not that Burnsy said it was) that all prices are inflated in January. Yes some prices are inflated but there will still be bargains for players with a limited time on their contract. There may also be scenarios where young players in good form could cost loads more with another half season e.g Lukebakio’s current transfer value now compared to start of the season.
It’s not perhaps that prices are inflated, but more than you have to pay a premium for players that parent clubs don’t want. Yes but Doucoure cost £6m. As that goes for us, we can afford to spend that and defer a players arrival for a few months. If we are looking at spending £10m+ on a player, I think it’s extremely likely to expect that player to join the squad immeditely.
Very true, judging by what a French football fan on twitter said, Cornet is an erratic player whereas this fella is more consistent.
Everyone else is getting a mono moniker Brazilian named after an English Grandad. Fred, Malcolm, Allen. etc etc Why cant we have a mono moniker Brazilian ? Gino, sort it out.
One of Bordeaux’s executives been interviewed in France and said no bids recieved and any bids would need to start at a minimum of €30m anyway. File under ‘was never in for him’.
And a rarity in that he scored for us in an FA Cup Semi-Final, along with Garbett, Reilly, Gayle, Bouazza and Deeney.
I'm a big Steve Winwood fan and isn't his brother (I'll not use his first name so as to avoid the fourth form humour!) a fan?
Bordeaux have just signed another forward, Maja, from Sunderland... Will this pave the way for Kamano's dream move to the Hornets of Watford?
