There seems to be a problem sending/receiving PM's. The facility was working this morning but now I get a message saying I don't have the necessary permissions, and it seems others might have the same problem.

No ... I wish I was that quick. There's a few of us in the Brighton Tickets thread that seem to be having issues - me, Halfway, LondonOrn.

 

Strange. You've not got a huge mailbox either.

suggest a log out. Dump cache & history and then a log back in. I also find it helps to have the keep me logged in check box ticked as otherwise some parts of the forum think you're logged out when you go to different sections. That might be the permission issue.

Didn't work for me unfortunately and the option to send PMs under the person's username is missing. :frown:

 

You need to make 11 more posts then wait for a forum database update to unlock PMs. I'm afraid it's 100 minimum to stop trolling.

Any chance of the posts from early morning to about 9-ish coming back? Would be great to have all those posts celebrating promotion just when it happened for people to look back on fondly for years to come.

 

I wasn't even able to log on to here from about 5pm to 10:30 but I doubt I was the only one

 

I can only surmise that the forum was off getting hammered with everyone else.

 

Well done! ... it's a good job you took heed and investigated all the recent minor crashes and took appropriate action to keep major crashes at bay on such a wonderful promotion day as this.

Looks like the danger is now past so it should be safe to bring out all of today's posts from your back ups.

 

Unfortunately the massive amount of traffic caused the forum to melt, we had to restore to a previous backup and unfortunately some posts were lost.

We've upgraded the server ahead of next week

 

Would you consider doing a fundraiser for us to make donations to further upgrade the servers? I'm not sure how much something like that would cost...

Adverts are what pays for the site. We can't be seen to actively request people click on adverts just to raise revenue as Google are very hot on that and would shut us down overnight. If you see something you like and click a small donation is made to the forum coffers.

Just had 404 error for ~15 minutes.

 

Not sure how doable this is but at some point yesterday morning the thread about the new kit got Websensed at work for containing adult material. No doubt due to an image someone linked to. Any chance of identifying it and getting the thread unblocked?

 

I always forget to mention this, but how can I view sent messages on the inbox screen? Every time I click on sent messages, it says there's nothing there.

If there's nothing there, then it seems your messages aren't being saved after sending.

When you send a message, at the bottom there is a series of options for check boxes, one of which is "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder.
Stores a copy of the message you send in the 'Sent Items' folder."

 

Working on it but difficult because of the amount of images posted in there.

Is this place loading slowly/limping along for anyone else tonight? Seem to be getting a lot of time out errors and graphics failing to load but only on this website. Everything else working fine.
