Won 4 out the last 6 and scraped into the playoff place by a single point. Paderborn in the playoffs, bricking it!

 

2-1 victory in the first leg, 1-0 victory in the second leg, suck it Paderborn!

22m budget for my first season in the bundesliga, without the cull of players that i've got planned. Gonna be a Watford-esque transfer window...

My overall aim is to end up with a hugely flexible team, a smallish squad who are mostly versatile in which positions they can play, allowing me a huge amount of tactical flexibility in which to destroy my opponent.

 

Details on FM16 released. Prozone stuff sounds very interesting. Reckon i'll easily sink 2000 hours into that...

Saw this yesterday - disappointed about the 'set-piece' creator. I thought when they said 're-designed', they meant it! Its just a different interface, there are no new instructions!

 

I want customisable set-piece routines

Ultimate Soccer Manager had it in 1998, it can't be too hard to do!

 

Well....finished my season. Finished 4th and qualified for the CL in my first bundesliga season....wat. Vydra and Sarabia were key players, Sarabia despite his horrible injury record managed to clock up 92 key passes in just 17 starts, highly impressive. Vydra managed to net 17 goals in 32 games which i'm pretty happy with, lone striker role as well

Already identified the positions I need to strengthen over the summer (a starting CB since Dier will be returning to spurs, a LWB, a RWB and a backup GK). Downside is Pablo Sarabia has said he wants to leave...gutted.

I am not sure what to make of the new features. Whilst some look good, like the integration of prozone, I feel this year's edition is leading towards being a bit of a gimmick.

Creation of your own team - what is all that about? If the team has to start at the bottom of the pyramid with fake players, then fair enough, but what happens to the team you replace and their players? If you implement your side in the Prem to replace, say, Chelsea, then what happens to the likes of Eden Hazard? Are they now free agents?

Also saw that one of the 'unlockables' was that if you move clubs ten times, then you can unlock the ability for any job application to be accepted. I don't know the full details, but surely that is moronic if you move around the lower leagues, then suddenly have an application for the Barcelona job accepted.

Anyway, moan moan moan n' all, I am sure it will be a fantastic game regardless and, as the slave I am to the Football Manager machine, one I will no doubt be purchasing.

Anyone been playing FM16?

I decided i'd do another Trinity game, but with Watford in the prem and with a great squad it seemed too easy. So i've gone for the Charlton/Standard Liege/Alcorcon link. I'm struggling for results with Liege and Charlton! I'm also chronicling it hoping a website will pick it up...I'm only in November and have already done over 5500 words (19 pages). Oops.

 

Yeah I am - Not enjoying it yet because of the bugs with the Opta Stats at the moment (Average positions etc.)

I'm sure this will get sorted by the full release.

Pretty easy so far which is odd, it's December and I'm 6th without cheating!

Ighalo has 10 league goals only behind Aguero!

Deeney has 1

 

What do the Watford squad look like? Any decent stats for Oulare or any other of our youngsters? Is that Zaineddeine kid on the game this year?

 

Oulare doesn't look good to me.. folivi looks good. Don't think he is I'm afraid.

 

im four games into my premiership season on 16. won 3 and drawn 1 so far. playing a 4-4-2, and deeney and ighalo are pretty decent in front of goal. its still in beta mode, so bound to be some mistakes but i do like what im seeing so far.

Oulare would be a good Championship striker. Xane isn't now.

Dennon Lewis, Michael Folivi & Denilson Carvalho (?) can all be decent if you have the patience.

Obi is the best of the bunch.

Ighalo wasn't granted a work permit so lost him on a free after his contract ran out! At one point he was worth £25 million!!

 

The physical copy comes out on Friday. I'm going to buy it then, rather than download it and play the beta version. Besides, I don't download as a rule, anyway; I like having physical copies of things.

 

The best policy ... I still have my pristine 'Never Mind the Bo11ocks' on vinyl, beats any download EVER!

 

I threw in the towel with regards to Football Manager after FM 15 last year.

It was bugged when released and was still heavily bugged by February this year, after the January transfer update.

I, along with many other members of the community contacted Sports Interactive and asked what we might expect in the next update, and they had the gall to smugly say that they won't release another update as they were already working on FM 16.

That's what you get I suppose when you feed a company that releases a very similar game year after year; a partially broken product that rips off its consumers. I'm done with Sports Interactive after last year's cheek. They won't get another penny from me.

 

Really? I thought the final version of FM15 was pretty bug free? Fwiw FM16 is much better in terms of first output being bug free.

 

Frequent and long lasting injuries were recurrent for my team, and for other teams in the same league. I browsed the SI forums to see if anyone else had similar issues and many, many others had.

 

They've had the same stance for years. That said a lot of so-called bugs are in the eye of the beholder when it comes to a game like that. Some of the things people write on the SI forums rival this place for ridiculous hysteria.

 

I've seen Jacobson comment on a number of occasions that this is one of the aspects he finds most frustrating about fan reaction to the game - on twitter he wrote 'injuries in game according to our tests are around 70% where they are in real life. Why teams have squads'

 

I've finally decided to ruin my life and to re-start my addiction. I doubt I'll ever be as hooked as I was in 2006 though

 

So I'll be getting this tonight I think. Kind of got too busy to play lots of 2015. What are first impressions for Watford this time around?

 

Never understood the complaints about 2015. I certainly never ran into any of the horrendous unplayable bug issues people like to point at.

A trophy-laden era for the club already.

 

Starting myself a challenge tonight, since I haven't actually managed Watford on FM16 yet. One season: A highest placed finish as possible. Anyone wanting to start a new game (using the winter update) to challenge me is more than welcome

 

Sold Abdi for 4.5m, bought in Sarabia (a better, younger, more versatile option) for 6m. Gone for a 4231, all focusing on the wings. Ake plays left back and plays very defensively, Amrabat plays LW and very offensive, cutting inside and shooting whenever possible. On the other side, Sarabia plays RW and cuts inside but acts more of a playmaker whilst Nyom bombs on and puts crosses in for either Ighalo or Deeney (Ighalo seems to suit the system more) or Amrabat at the back post. So far after 4 PL games (against Liverpool, Stoke, West Brom and Sunderland) i've got 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss and Amrabats scored 4. Hoping he'll have 15+ by the end of the season!

 

21 games in and i'm 12th. My tactics are working as planned (shame more results haven't gone my way though). Nyom has 11 assists (!) and Amrabat and Ighalo have both bagged 11 goals.

Been playing a little bit recently, whenever I have a moment. I'm 5 or 6 seasons in with Watford. Won the League Cup and the FA Cup and been in the Europa League places a couple of times. Not quite been able to crack the top 4, although I've dedicated a lot of time and money to signing young players who'll hopefully become stars down the line and help carry us into the Champions League. Also managed to pick up a few bargains on the transfer list, Goetze and Oliver being just a couple for 6 and 3 million respectively, and then Lucas Romero when his contract expired. Zivkovic has been an absolute monster on the wing and his value has sky-rocketed to more than 20 million. Used the Udinese link to sign Alex Meret for 500k to replace Gomes and he's already looking like an absolute hero.

I think the only survivors from the original squad are Hoban, Byers, Gomes (about to retire - hasn't played a game in 2 years) and Nyom, who nearly caused mutiny in the squad when I rejected a 12 million bid from Juve.

 

What a mental season.
