I was just browsing teams to find players, and I came across Iriney!

He signed for Heerenveen in the summer of 2014 and has so far played 3, scored 2, assisted 2 and has an average rating of 8.40. From defensive midfield. What's happened there?

 

My Pozzo Trinity Challenge game update will arrive eventually. 1/3rd of the way through season 2 at the moment and we can't be complaining too much about the status of all three clubs. Watch this space.

They've got one in August if anyone feels like entering. The admin picks 2 equally matched teams, and then each player plays as the picked team. The first round was Red Star vs Partizan, my 3-4-2-1 tactic worked fantastically giving me a 3-1 victory. He was playing a 4-3-2-1 tactic but my defensive shape was on point and won the ball back with ease (he ended with something like 60% pass accuracy!). Into the quarter finals I go, the picked teams are Levski vs CSKA Sofia (i've been drawn as CSKA Sofia).

Fingers crossed!

 

How does it work? Do you use the bog standard teams with no injuries etc? Do you get a chance to try a few tactics?

 

Yup, I believe all players in the teams are marked as available (you do it as a VS game). You only play one game against your opponent so don't really get to try out different tactics (although it's up to you and your opponent to agree on what to do if it's a draw, you can go the ET and penalties route or you can agree on a replay). I've got my first knockout round tonight hopefully, against some bloke from Brazil. I started a game as CSKA to have a look at their players and i've decided i'm gonna go for my 3-4-2-1 again due to the beastly CDMs and quality CAMs at my disposal.

 

Went 1-0 up in the 60th minute, was confident
He equalised in the 75th minute.
1-1 FT
100 minutes in, he takes the lead
105 minutes in, he gets a man sent off
117 minutes, penalty to him, scored 3-1
118 minutes, free kick floated in, he scores 4-1

wtf just happened.

 

I hope for FM16 someone can properly explain how you know what tactics to use for your team and properly explains how to create a complete philosophy. Also how to adapt it to the team you're about to face.

Saw this earlier, Stoke always do well on all of my saves that have gone above 10 years into the future. Burnley always have mixed fortunes (i've got a mate who's a Burnley fan so I always look out for them)

 

That brilliant! Man Utd went to League 2 in a 100k stadium and have had to rebuild to a 6k stadium.

 

I'm in 2044/45 on my Boreham Wood FM11 save. Hit a ceiling after 32 seasons of not paying a single penny as a transfer fee and have made a few purchases to take the team to the next level, all younger players with the potential to improve. Finished in 4th place in the PL last season, though because of the competition rankings that was only enough for a Europa League spot.

I've just beaten Man City on penalties to secure a place in the FA Cup final. It's almost poetic that I have an opportunity to win my first major silverware against the one and only Luton Town. They've beaten Stoke, Arsenal and Tottenham on the way to the final so will be a tough test, but I'm delighted to be playing them. Four games before the final, though. We'll see!

 

Only went and ****ing lost. 2-1. Played a full strength team but my tactics weren't suited to playing against their four (!) strikers. Went 1-0 up through a penalty in the first half but two goals soon after half time consigned me to defeat.

Just another reason to hate Luton Town.

 

out of interest whereabouts are Watford JH93? did we disappear into non-existence due to going bankrupt.

 

Finished lower mid table in the Championship again last year, I believe. Will have a proper check next time I have the game open.

 

Just started myself a new save as RB Leipzig, with the aim of reaching and winning the Bundesliga before the new FM comes out...

Considering I just scared the hell out of Schalke (drawing 2-2 until Huntelaar scored in the 88th minute) in the first round of the cup i'd suggest that it's entirely possible...

 

It's been a good few months since I played...wtf have they done regarding penalties? After 14 games i've given away 7 penalties. If they were for stuff like dodgy tackles I could understand it but most of them are from "pushes" at corners or free kicks. I gave away 3 in one game all from the same scenario of a free kick from the halfway line being floated in to the box and the ref seeing a push!

 

haha I know, I feel like penalties and last minute equalisers happen alarmingly regularly on this iteration. also there are sooo many injuries on this game.

in my second season as hoffenheim manager currently. finished the first season in second place but had to sell volland to real madrid (January) and firmino to juventus (recent summer window) just to keep the ship afloat. firmino missed 20 games in the first season due to repeated injuries, all minor things that appear totally unconnected.

 

I also find penalties annoying. Too many go in as well, I often have penalty shoot outs go to 15-15 etc... which rarely happens in reality.

I have done lots of reading into Lucien Favre's tactic at Gladback.

4-4-2 with very compact defence and very fast, short passing counter attacks.

 

There's a lot of German managers with very very interesting ideas at present, some of which could alter football drastically if they're picked up by a bigger name. This article I read recently is fascinating:

I planned my team for the Bundesliga perfectly, fully expected to make it on the first time of asking. Going into the winter break in 7th. Fml.

 

Bit the bullet and downloaded FM15 the other day. Not sure how much time I'll have to play though, and I haven't really played FM in general for a year. As usual I start a campaign with Maidenhead United. Currently 9th in the Conference South after 28 games. Not bad. We're the leagues draw specialist, having done so 14 times so far, half our games!

 

Don't enjoy FM anymore and certainly won't be buying another.

There's way too much player interaction and the new tactical setup is just totally beyond me. I also hate how Sports Interactive release a broken version every year, only to half fix it with a patch later on and then say 'sorry lads, no more updates. We're working on the next version now'. That company won't get another penny of my money.

 

In 23 league games I have conceded 9 penalties. That means each game i'm expected to concede a penalty 39% of the time. What a joke.

 

out of interest reids, what defensive settings have you got? are your defenders tackling hard, are individuals being specifically targeted? I don't have this problem on my game, on the contrary I tend to win a lot of penalties. my team is full of technically gifted players which I'm sure helps.

my hoffenheim team is pretty good currently. second in the league one point behind Bayern at the winter break in my second season. just about won my group in the champions league against man utd, roma and Atletico.

after selling firmino and volland in the previous 12 months for mega bucks I was able to invest in a few decent strikers. dybala joined from Palermo and has been a revelation. ill post some screenshots later.

 

The CBs are set to tackle hard but it seems to be mostly the full-backs giving them away. No individuals being targeted, all opposition settings are set for weaker foot only.

 

After playing football manager quite a lot recently I thought I'd give it a bit of a break.

So now I've moved onto championship manager 01/02 (Probably one of the best management games) taking over Lincoln in Division 3, should be a good challenge.
It's strange seeing Doyley as an 18 year old who's made 0 appearances for Watford so far!

I had a strong start to the season, with 6 wins out the opening 10 league matches....then disaster with a horrible streak of 1 win in 15 (!), but now i've won my last 5 on the bounce, with 6 games left. I'm 2 points off the playoff place with a game in hand...
