Does it matter about how clogged up your hardrive is?

My old laptop which was quite a good spec when I got it about 5 years back started well in terms of handling the Football Manager games, but by FM2010, it had got to the point where it couldn't handle it very well - half a star, and had to play games on the classic 2D pitch.

My new laptop however, about half a year old now, has coped with FM2011 perfectly fine, as I would expect it to. Things get old, technology moves on, old computers won't be able to handle the new and improving stuff as well. On my last one, clearing the hard-drive didn't really help me - so i'm guessing it could be down to your computer.

Ah right thanks. This laptop is only a year old though. :/

Ah, that's slightly more confusing. Could be the hard-drive thing then.

I'm not exactly an expert, but if that doesn't work, I would suggest following Prentice's advice.

Yeh. Ok well i might be getting one before i go to uni so who knows.

Basically, your RAM, Graphics Card, Processor and Video Card are what determine how fast the machine can run FM, if they're low then it won't run it very fast at all.

The Laptop can be 1 day old, it can be 10 years old, but if that hardware's of low spec, it's irrelevant.

I signed those two on loans in my Watford game - Lansbury was as good as ever... but Kakuta on the other hand... a whole different kettle of fish. Absolutely useless.

As for the game I am currently playing, I decided I would take control of AFC Wimbledon and see where I can guide them to. Might not get a chance to play it in the coming week, got some deadlines to meet, but 3 quarters of the way through the season, I find myself 8 points off the leaders Grimsby, in 4th, having just lost to fellow promotion chasers Newport County. Signings all loans... of Liam Henderson and Piero Mingoia - both key players, Henderson top scoring so far with 14 in 25, but perhaps my favourite signing included giving Gifton Noel-Williams a trial in pre-season, whereby he scored in the 1st minute of a friendly against Ipswich - which we won 1-0, which prompted me to sign him. He is my 2nd top scorer with 9 from 20. Don't think automatics are going to happen though - can't seem to beat the teams around me.

My season lowpoint involved going 7 without a win, one of which included losing to L*t*n 5-0 - fair to say I was disgusted.

Yeah Lansbury has been quality for me, playing him out on the wing, has managed to scored a few aswell. Kakuta has also been brilliant, on the other wing, my top assister. I played Lansbury in the centre in my last game and he set up both my goals, two quality loanees.

My FC Metz career continued and the success continued. Having won Ligue 1 on 3 consecutive occasions and a fourth looking likely, it felt like time to start seriously looking elsewhere for a new challenge. Had previously applied for a vacant manager position at Man Utd but had been turned down. However when Man City decided to sack their boss around Christmas, the media was asking questions about whether i'd be interested in the job. After thinking it through, it seemed like the Premier League would be a good move and Man City certainly have the financial muscle to compete at the very top, something i'd struggled with at Metz. An application swiftly followed and a week later, the job offer was on my table. Out of respect for Metz, i asked to defer the transfer until the end of the season. City accepted and with that over, it was time to concentrate on the rest of the season.

It went beyond my wildest dreams as we clinched Ligue 1, French Cup and triumphed against Real Madrid in the Champions League Final, 3-1 AET. We'd beaten Man City 4-3 over 2 legs in the Semi Finals. Khouma Babacar scored an incredible 61 goals in all competitions and i'm certainly looking to take him with me to Manchester. In 8 years FC Metz had gone from Ligue 2 to the top of Europe. But football moves on and so do managers. Time to see if i can bring Man City the success their oil-rich owners desire.

I finally got around to continuing and finishing off my 1st season with AFC Wimbledon last night, having not had a proper opportunity to play this game for a while.

With 30 games gone, and Grimbsby 15 points clear at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier, I decided I would set my sights on the playoffs for any realistic chance of promotion into the Football League. Some shrewd January loans to replace some of the less effective signings from pre-season saw Anthony Edgar incoming from West Ham (M R/L), and Adam Smith (D L/R), fro Spurs. Both good, young prospects at their respective clubs.

Though firmly in the playoff places, I was desperate not to be in a position whereby I would face L*t*n in the semi-finals, but that's the way it was looking with me occupying 2nd, and them 5th for most of the run in. However, a poor run of form from AFC, involving throwing away 5 points in the last 2 minutes of 3 consecutive games, coinciding with a huge unbeaten run from the scum, meant after 46 games the table looked like this:

    1. Grimsby.............46...+52...99 Pts

    2. L*t*n...............46...+32...87 Pts
    3. AFC Wimbledon...46...+23...85 Pts
    4. Rushden............46...+34...84 Pts
    5. Newport County..46...+18...81 Pts
    6. Histon...............46...+31...80 Pts

After a solid 1-0 away win in the first leg at Rushden, courtesy of an Edgar strike, I found myself 2-1 down in the reverse leg, that was until a 25 yarder from my centre mid in the 92nd minute that put me through to the final at the City of Manchester Stadium... against... Newport County, who I had beaten 1-0 at their place on the final day.

In the final, I found myself 1-0 down at the break, having my a** handed to me by the damned Welsh. Forunately Edgar, got me back into it, and at 1-1, the game went to extra time and penalties. I guess I could count myself fortunate to still be in it at this stage, but I couldn't help but be slightly disappointed when Milsom skied his penalty (2nd of 5) over the bar, which eventually resulted in me losing the shootout 5-4.

Oh well, another season in the Blue Square Premier beckons, Liam Henderson signed permanently - clearly it's his level - he finished the league's top scorer, including one game where he smashed 2 records, netting all 5 in my 5-0 away win at promotion hopefuls Darlington. Edgar and Smith have been signed in the post season, to arrive in July permanently - some will be outgoing, with the aim for next season being to shoot for the title.

A lesson to you all: The Success of a whole season, can rest on one kick of a football.

I'm having a cracking save as Derby on the update, signed all the perfect free agents to boast a very sold, impressive championship team and look for promotion.

    Signed:
    Michael Brown
    Owen Hargreaves
    Ingimarsson
    Armand Traore (Loan)
    Danny Welbeck (Loan)
    Henri Lansbury (Loan)
    Alberto Beuno (Loan)
    Stuart Parnaby

With my Swansea style 4-3-3 if that doesn't scream promotion I don't know what does.

Something strange has happened on my game. I have taken Faversham Town from the Ryman South to League 2, won the Kent cup (runner up once), FA Trophy (runner up once) and the Isthmian League Charity Shield. The board thought I was superb, the finances were fine and the supporters had no problem but I was sacked when 6th in league 2!

Did you finish 6th? What were your pre-season aims that you told the board? If you say promotion then they expect it.

A touch brutal from the board there. I need to get back to my game with AFC Wimbledon at some point. Think when I left it last, I was 8 points clear at the top of the Blue Square Premier with 8 games to go in my 2nd season, and looking to build for the Football League already. Hopefully nothing goes wrong :)

It was only September and the board told me to consolidate. I think there is a bug in the game as there has been a flurry of managers losing their jobs whilst in play off positions.

I'm in my 8th season and I'm currently at at Racing Club in Argentina, bit concerned now as all my best players are getting a bit too old - I can't really replace them as all the decent young Argentineans are in Europe or have long term contracts at the big clubs like River Plate and Boca.

Doesn't help that Argentinean clubs get taxed to buggery for simply existing. May move to the Mexican league, hopefully finances are bit easier there.

In a nutshell, don't become a manager in Argentina

After being at Watford for 5 seasons, promoting them to the premier league and finishing in the top 10 most seasons I felt it was time to move on. Liverpool were managerless so I took over, however, I have a slight problem. It's time to choose my squad for the Euro cup and atleast 4 players must have been trained at Liverpool for 3 years between their 15th and 21st birthdays. This is the problem, Stevie G is the only player to have met this requirement. My reserve players are all foreign and my Under 18's are either 16 and 17. I cannot continue my game without submiting my squad. :doom:

Took a gamble on my Darlington season once I barely got through the playoffs in the BSP first season, by not renewing the contracts of virtually the whole squad and a fair few members of staff. Decided instead to raid the free signings and loans and am now top of league 2 9 games in by 2 points :D

Having got round to playing it again this evening to continue my game, Promoted with AFC Wimbledon in my 2nd season, after the penalty heart-break in the Playoff final in season 1. Liam Henderson has now notched 51 goals for me in 85 games - a tidy return - looks like he found his level.

Finished the season with 108 points, scoring 95 and conceeding 30 with the scum finishing 2nd with 104 points.

Looking to make some good signings over the summer, and make strides in League 2 - the target is promotion from League 2 within 2 seasons.
