The matches are still far too unrealistic, always too many goals per game, top league scorers get into the 40's and it's near impossible to keep clean sheets.

I've had no issue with this whatsoever, in fact mine's been very realistic compared to older versions.

Instructions and common sense tactics seem far more responsive too.

I work in graphics, the game engine responsibility is nothing to do with me

It's true though, if at 60 minutes I'm 3-0 up and wish to close the game off easily, I just slow down play, sit deep and waste play, and it'll end 3-0, whereas on older ones it practically felt like the game intended to make the game finish 3-3 on purpose with 3 injury time goals, just to **** you off.

I thought this at first, especially when I was struggling with Watford. However, now I'm at Brentford we're sitting pretty at the top of League 2 with about 10 games to go, and I've kept 5 clean sheets in 6 games. This is what I like to see!

Basically I found a coach with 20 for defending and used him and another decent defensive coach to train all my defenders, and it seems to be working. Plus I brought in Andy Goram to coach my goalkeepers (Lee and Graham Stack) and this seems to also help. Although I must admit it's Stack who's keeping the clean sheets. Initially I stuck by Lee as my number one as his 'command of the area' stat was better than Stack. However, after a few dodgey games I put Stack in and he's been the one keeping the clean sheets. So I guess command of the area doesn't mean too much!

Finally got round to finishing my game.

Got Watford promoted to the prem via the play offs after finishing 6th. I beat Burnley 4-2 in the play off final at Wembley.

I signed several players for my premiership season including Macheda from Man Utd on loan and he was incredible scoring 18 goals.

I also managed to sign Michael Owen on a free transfer and he got 12.

    I finished a respectable 16th.

I got offered a new contract and stupidly negotiated my contract to run out the same year so I am now unemployed as my contract ended.

A few weird things have happened in my game. The crash dumping appears to have stopped and I won League 2 with Brentford, however the weirdness occured in the cups.

The first season the FA Cup was won by Leicester, who beat Wolves. The second season Wolves won the cup (having been relegated the season before). So two Championship clubs have won the FA Cup in the first 2 seasons. Actually non of the 'big 4' have reached the semis yet. Also Sheff United just got relegated from the Championship after being shyte, yet still managed to win the League Cup! So I'll be playing them in League 1 next season while they're faffing about in the Europa League.

Wolves won the FA Cup in my first season but also got relegated. Surprisingly, they beat Crystal Palace in the final, who managed to get relegated form the Championship!

Swansea absolutely walked the Championship, getting 100 points in the process while QPR joined Palace in relegation despite having a number of players with rating around the 7.5 mark. To be honest, the most unrealistic FM/CM series game I have played so far

just secured a play off spot on the final day. Beat gillingham 4-0 over two legs but then lost to Bradford at wembley. I am distraught

    Haha good spot.

Well the wheels came off my game totally. Top of the league, 8 points clear with 8 games remaining. S****horpe roll into town, 23rd in the league and having lost 5 on the bounce. Watford create 7 clear cut chances and score 1. S****horpe create 0 and score 5. i lose the next 7 in a row, before winning on the final day. The horrific streak sees me finish 3rd in the league and the squad low on confidence. The play-offs await me and Leeds are the opponents. Win 4-2 at Elland Road and everything is back on track. Sadly they destroy me 3-0 at the Vic and the season is over. Not entirely sure what happened. I'd only lost 5 all season before the final run in. Didn't play a single team from the top 8 until the Leeds game and had 5 matches at home. Needless to say, my anger got the best of me and i don't think i'll be returning to that file in the near future. Guess i'll start again somewhere else. Bloody FM.

Luke this sounds about par for the course for FM (esp. when managing Watford). Unexplained slumps galore. I just managed to stagger somehow to the League 2 championship with Brentford. Goodness knows how I'm going to do in League 1.

Bit of an update for you all.

After having what can only be described as a terrible few months at Watford I jumped before I was pushed. Took over at Brentford just before the start of the next season (they had been relegated to League 2). Managed to take them to the League 2 title and win the St.Johnstone Paint Trophy. Although it wasn't an easy league triumph, Southend pushed me all the way to the final game.

Because of this I expected my League 1 campaign to be a tough relegation battle. How wrong could I have been! After 32 games I sit top of the League with 81 points, my next rivals (Plymouth) sit second with 65! We will surely get a very unlikely promotion, and the board expected relegation! Being knocked out of all the cups early has certainly helped. I also expected Sheffield United to be strong challengers; however, they have had to play in all the cups plus the Europa League (they won the league cup last season), this meant that after I had played 20 games, they had only played about 9! Fixture congestion has well and truely removed them from the running.

I'm pretty amazed by how this season is progressing to be honest. I don't have an outstanding striker, in fact my top scorer is my right winger Sala (who I had on loan last season from Chelsea, and snapped him up for a free this season). It seems a tough defence (marshalled by Lee!) and goalscorers throughout the team are helping me to unexpected glory!

Started a game with my local club over here, St Patrick's Athletic. Just started my third season after winning two leagues in a row!

Lads, for anyone who's playing with Watford. Scout Ronan Finn (plays for Fingal) and Joseph Lapira (free agent). Not sure if they'll be able for Championship level both Lapira was POTY 1st season, scoring like 28 goals in 32 games, and Ronan Finn won POTY in 2nd season playing on an average of 7.33 or somit.

Also managed to sign Gavin McCann at the start of second season

Best result in the game ever was my beating of local rivals, Shamrock Rovers

In that first season, I only won the league cos Bohs only won 1 out of there last 12 games, or something ridiculous like that, and it still went down to the final day!

Qualified for the Champions League, got to the 3rd Qual. Round, but lost, so got to play in the Europa League Playoff Round, and got drawn against AaB Aalborg of Denmark. Didn't know what to expect, so played 4-1-4-1, very rigid, counter etc... Was 3-0 up, away from home, after 30 mins! Went on to win 4-1 on AGG and qualified for the group stages!

Didn't do well in the groups tho tbf

Started my third season and am having some serious bother with complacency. Pffft.

After playing this game for a while now (and initially thinking it was good), I've realised it's sh*t and too hard. So I don't think I'll be playing it anymore.

Unrealistic results, and the same patterns emerging in every game I play (despite tactical changes etc etc), have frustrated me so much it's just not worth the hassle. Just can't string 2 victories together at all.

I don't know. I was initially quite successful. I took Brentford from League 2 to the Championship in 2 seasons. Since then I've finished 17th and 16th and in my latest season was about 13th. We're just so inconsistant, I've signed decent players but it's just not working. Typically we'll go away to a top team and get a good result, then play a poor team at home who have not won in ages and lose 1-3. Or I'll keep a couple of clean sheets then lose the next game 4-0. Also quite a few times I take the lead early on (or have so many missed chances I can't quite believe it), the other team will then score an amazing goal with their first shot, and then go on to win because we miss chance after chance. It's daft, I'm talking about open goals here, and many one-on-ones, despite my strikers have decent finishing and composure! As it's a new day I might give it another go, but no doubt the rage will rise again later!

I'm also finding this year quiet easy!

Still playing with St Pats, but also got the Australian job!

    Here's me 3rd season summary

Third season was great, even got an international job randomly!

Club: As St Pats, we won pretty much everything. The League, the FAI Cup, the League Cup and the Setanta Cup.

Also managed to get into the Champions League Group Stages after a truely epic encounter with BATE Borisov, which I won 5-4 on agg. (Already posted the pics earlier). Finished rock bottom of that group, with only one win coming on the last day of the season with a freak 4-3 victory over Leverkusen!

    and, the group

The player of the year went to Joseph Lapira again, and in 2nd and 3rd were Ronan Finn and Seamus Conneelly. 3 of my players in the top 3 :D

Best XI for the year, IMO was (Lapira misses out cos he was injured for ages!)

Made a fair few signings this season including the two Brazilian strikers, Nei and Cristiano, Conor Clifford, Stephen Kelly at right back, Rhys Taylor in goal and a few more... Got rid of a fair few players too.

Country: Australia. Got offered the job and immeaditely had a must win game against Syria in order to qualify to the final group stage of the AFC World Cup Qualifiers. Won that, then got drawn into a group with South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Qatar. First game was away to South Korea and managed to pull off a quality victory! Here's how the group looks at the end of 2012

Roll on the World Cup :p

After my third season with Brentford in the dead zone of Championship mid-table I resigned as I felt I had taken them as far as I could. I then went on holiday for ages in the hope of getting a new job. Nothing good came up so I retired. Interestingly Brentford appointed my assistant as the new manager and when I retired he had the Bees 5th in the league! Shows how crap I was.

Anyway time to start a brand new game with Watford again. This time I will take them to glory, if I have the patience.

I've installed it and tried to play last night. Worked well enough until just before my first league match of the season when my whole laptop had to froze. It's certainly not a memory issue because I've recently deleted quite a lot of stuff from my laptop. Any ideas guys?

The weirdest thing just happened in my new Watford game. Just about to play Barnsley so toddled along to the pre-match press conference. Unfortunately in my last game against Crystal Palarse my on loan centre back Andrew Davies got injured for 4 weeks. Therefore I got the usual question, 'is this a blow to your chances?' I answered by saying; 'yes, but we have replacements'. I got asked who I'd replace him with, easy answer, 'Martin Taylor'. However on returning to my message screen I see this:

Not sure why there is a big space above!!??

So for some reason the 43 year old Brescia scout Roberto Baggio is a central defender in my squad, who I have suggested will step in and replace my injured centre back! Weird. Not sure where that one has come from!!

I thought someone might say that, but not at all. Baggio is a 43 year old scout for Brescia. It was a properly random thing!

Also, what is The Watford Football Express!!?? Watford Observer maybe?
