No. As an ex company owner and managing director I employ accountants (like you). I did state that in my first reply to the question. And not once has any of my FDs ever told me I can't take a dividend because of business total liabilities, loans, overdrafts etc.
If we somehow managed to sell Success for £20m, the club is now worth £120m . Actually it would depend on the carrying value of the players and whether the cash stayed in the business. If you sold players valued at £20m for £20m you've just swapped assets from players to cash so the value is the same. If you were able to dividend the £20m out, it would then be worth £20m less.
Ah, that'll be why you don't understand when you can pay a dividend then . I employ lots of accountants too.
Your assets obviously exceed your total liabilities then. Good for you. If not, I will come and visit you in jail.
Good point. The idea that Gino is looking to sell up ASAP seems to be based on us selling or looking to sell players that don't want to play in the Championship. Assume that means Bournemouth's and Norwich's owners will soon be out the door, too? All we have to go on is the statement at the end of the season from Pozzo and Duxbury: https://www.harrowtimes.co.uk/watfordnews/18610010.watford-fc-owner-gino-pozzo-statement-relegation/ "We have always said we are here for the long-term and we will not allow this one moment of great disappointment to stop the continued development of this club over the next eight years and beyond." You can choose to believe that or not but any idea to the contrary of the above statement is plucked from thin air and based on very little.
True. If Gino decides to sell Sarr, Suarez, Estupinan, Pereyra, Deeney, Welbeck, Foster, Pedro, Capoue and Hughes, and sends any other player of value over to Udinese on a free transfer, much like he did with Granada, I'll agree it looks like he may be aiming to sell.
Quite - sold one player for a fairly average fee albeit saving 70k a week and might be selling another for 15 million who would have been on nothing. Anyway else seems to be hearsay and rumours.
Those denying a fire sale, do you actually think we have 17 players out injured and sick? Friday bar Hughes, Gray and Masina is as good as its going to get. The rest do not want to be here and are going to be sold.
If anyone want them - that seems to be the issue. I am sure the club hoped some of the unwanted high earners would have left by now. Seems only about 3/4 (unfortunately some of the players we'd rathe keep) are actually wanted and I guess if he was fit Delefeou too.
Of course there is going to be a fire sale. If you tell all the senior players agents to go out and find them new clubs, then thats what they are going to do. If you do that you then can't complain that players don't want to be here & B - you have to have decent enough replacements lined up to come in We have no replacements, were complaining players that we have told to leave, don't want to play for us & over sold promises to the likes of Suarez & Estupinan
What Lerma says is he will play but reading between the lines he would like to move. what we seem to have done is completely ignore anybody who wants to play at a higher level. I’ve not heard anybody refusing to play
Are you suggesting our owners have assembled a group of mercenaries who are sticking two fingers up at the club that pays them? I assume not. That might upset a few people round here.
No I think we have players who have said they want to play at a higher level and we’ve decided not to play them. There were other issues as such as Sarr only just starting training
So you believe all of Suarez, Estupinan, Janmaat, Dawson, Deulofeu, Deeney, Penaranda, Success, Sarr, Dele-Bashiru, Perica, Capoue, Welbeck and Pereyra will all be sold in the next few weeks? Blimey we'll be swimming in it!
People are acting like this is a normal thing at relegated sides? I've never seen anything like this before. Even letting Sarr to go Senegal and miss the start of the season reeks of complacency.
I believe Suarez, Estupian, Duelofeu, Deeney, Sarr, Capoue, Welbeck and Pereyra will be sold, yeah. So the permanently injured Janmaat, useless Penaranda, Success (LOL), Tom Dele, and Perica to come back. Bet teams are shaking.
£50m+ lost TV revenue due to relegation, lost gate/season ticket cash due to CV19, and a dead transfer market at a time when we need to cut costs and raise cash. A perfect storm.
In terms of players missing yes potentially. Not so much selling players - lot's of clubs do it. Bournemouth did get 45 million for one player and 18 million for a goalkeeper who hardly played till last season so that helped them plus selling Wilson this week for the same we sold Doucouré.
Plus Masina, Hughes and Gray as you mentioned. Actually not a bad side for this level, without including the replacements that will hopefully come in once we have those funds and squad spaces available.
I don't need to deny it. It hasn't happened yet. It might or might not in the next few weeks. But so far - one sale.
It's ok, those people said we wouldn't get relegated last season. They can't really see the obvious and would rather argue semantics. They are the real Watford fans.
It's fine for this level - but it's certainly nowhere near a promotion side - which is what the owners keep telling us in the minimum requirement for this season. I don't give a **** if we go up, but don't sack Ivic for finishing mid table with a midtable side. My issue is not the sales, its Gino's club and he can do what he wants. I have a problem with the club bending over backwards to player power, letting them leave cheap and not train or play whilst taking home huge pay packets.
I quite agree the manager needs to be given time and allowed to work with the squad. I also agree he'll probably be sacked if we don't go up...
I dunno, I think a starting XI of: Foster Kabasele Cathcart Wilmot Ngakia Hughes Chalobah/Cleverley Quina Femenia Pedro Gray Or something along those lines would be competing in the top 6 with Ivic in charge. This is of course assuming the absolute worst case scenario that we sell everyone you mentioned and sign zero.
I wonder what would happen if all the players we have were actually happy to stay. Would we be flogging those listed off ? Probably need to raise some considerable funds, so they may have had to have gone anyway, though Perv and Suarez would almost certainly have stayed.
It's all opinions of course, but that side would not get anywhere near the top 6. Keeper excellent, central defence adequate, midfield weak, a young striker and woeful finisher up front. It's not enough to trouble the play off places.
Yep. Such a barm pot club are we that it’s barely been noticed. Like we can afford to waste games and only really kick on once 20% of the season has gone, if we actually do, that is.
Only good enough to compete for promotion if you trust Pozzo to bring in quality replacements. Probably looking at needing over 50% of our signings to be immediately successful. Odds are very slim, I'd say.
