Forrest Gump for what feels like the hundredth time. The final hour is still just as emotionally traumatic as ever.

"You lost me at 'old films are rubbish'". If she doesn't understand, tell her to watch Jerry Maguire, which is probably an 'old film' in her book. (fwiw in my book there is no touch that can be gifted enough to make up for homophobia, a lack of understanding of sarcasm & a lack of appreciation of old films)

    1) how is jerry maguire an old film in anyones book? tom cruise looks exactly the same in it as he does today!
    2) maybe homophobia is a strong word. basically i asked her for her thoughts on my favourite party street in sao paulo (rua augusta for the tourists) and she said she didn't like it. when i asked why she said it was ¨because of all the gays and lesbians.¨ at the time i thought it was a joke but now i know she doesn't understand sarcasm and is literally the most literal person in the world i'm not so sure.
    3) the touch is MAGIC and she has a house in the north east!

    2) "Literally the most literal person" This confused me, not gonna lie.
    3) Fair play

    1) has it really been 20 years? it's hard to believe that cuba gooding jr didn't go on to conquer the world. hopefully the years have been as kind to rennee zewilliger as they have to tom.
    2) she is very literal
    3) i went to a play yesterday and afterwards went on a bender with the cast which has resulted in a hangover so strong that i've just vomited at 21:30. i told her about it when cancelling our date tonight and she made another comment about actors/gays which from anyone else would be a funny quip but from her... well, i just don't know. but she is bringing me coconut water so i'll delay making any decisions/demotions again until after i get it

also, as much as like talking about my rock and roll life of hedonism, i watched 'the call'

halle berry has interesting hair. the director did way too much cocaine. the writer really dropped the ball for the last 20 mins, and then dropped it further (i'm not sure what extended metaphor would be apt here) for the last 45 seconds. 4/10

Bond meets chav that turn to kinda not chav spy comedy. Decent plot, though there aren't that many twists plot wise it does turn a few spy tropes in its head. Had a few good laughs. Very violent and a metric **** ton of bad language, which is no issue for me.

Watched a movie called Time Lapse with Mrs GD this evening on Netflix. Was surprisingly good. Looked awful after 15 minutes but improved no end.

If you liked that film, try Predestination. One of the few films in which the ending isn't predictable.

I watched Dark City a couple of nights ago. Previously never heard of it but was released in 1999.

Was quite impressed and Richard O'Brian played a cracking baddie in it.

Last weekend I went to this thread to see what was worth watching that I hadn't seen before, so I settled on Odd Thomas. I too quite liked it, although it was rough around the edges which was not surprising as it was an independently made film, the story was reasonably interesting and the lead actress was very pretty!

I saw The Martian at the cinema today. Absolutely loved it, would highly recommend it to anybody whether you have an interest in space or not. Matt Damon played his role superbly.

I watched Local Hero again last night and really enjoyed it.

For those that havn't heard of it, it is a bit dated now but that is part of the charm and it does carry a social message in that it is about a Texan Oil company that wants to build a refinery in a sleepy Scottish coastal village. A battle between big bucks and one particular old fella that refuses to give in.

There is a constant undercurrent of mild mirth and a great musical score by Mark Knopfler. Written by Bill Forsyth whose previous film was Gregory's Girl. I like Forsyth's use of young inexperienced actors and Local Hero shows Peter Capaldi in his first acting role.

Probably the worst film I've ever seen. Seemed to be an excuse to make a soft porn film with a bit of lesbianism thrown in for good measure.

Needless to say I still needed by 10 min Babestation preview.

Spectre is getting very good reviews, but I'm somewhat wary of that because I didn't particularly enjoy Skyfall.

That said, I say this from the pretty unique position of considering Quantum of Solace the best Craig film.

I too didn't enjoy Skyfall as much as Craig's previous two outings, but Casino Royale edges it over Quantum of Solace

Assassin - Danny Dyer. It's on Sky anytime after being shot (should have been put down) in 2015. It's so bad it's good. No strike that it's just bad.

You know a film is bad when even Danny Dyer won't allow it on his imdb entry. One reviewer said casting Dyer as a hardman assassin is like casting Woody Allen as Captain America.

If you've got a spare 85 mins and want a laugh go for it.

"I believe in miracles" is supposed to be very good. I haven't seen the film but it is an amazing story really - the modern-day analogy is that somebody takes over as manager of the team that's near the middle of the Championship and within a few years they've won the Champions League. Twice. Extraordinary.

Not a film I've watched (yet), but the early indications coming from the Star Wars premiere is that it's fantastic.

I have to say I'm dubious of JJ Abrams, so I was quite anxious, but I'm excited to see the finished product now.
