    You want a centre-back? Here's a centre-back rumour!

    Filip Benkovic - 21 y/o. 6' 3". Dynamo Zagreb & Croation under-21 player.

Sadly, the main rumour is Leicester are in for him with a £13m bid today.
He's already been linked with a number of top clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, B. Dortmund, Inter and the not so top club, Stoke City(!)

With those names (not Stoke) sniffing around as well as the size of the fee (£13m) it looks doubtful we'd buy him if we are indeed interested.

The real giveaway is the idea in the article below that Udinese would buy him before he'd come here.
Surely the other way around these days unless there's a loan deal between us and our Italian brothers?

Anyway, it's unlikely but if you have a spare couple of minutes here's the article mentioning our link to the player.

As we reported earlier, Filip Benkovic did not travel to Astana where his Dinamo is awaiting a new European challenge.

Instead of a seat on Kazakhstan, the 21-year Croatian champion defender remained in Zagreb. This could immediately be interpreted as a signal that the media reported that something 'cook' there ...

A transfer Benkovic already much was written, were mentioned that Manchester United, Chelsea, Sevilla, as well as the most concrete Stoke City, and from Italy very seriously once been bitten and FC Internazionale Milano.

The combination was also Udinese with a bid of nine million euros, and it was mentioned that, in the event of such a breakup, Filip from Italy could easily go to Watford.

Dinamo's some of these offers have been refused, hoping for 15 to 20 million euros for his talent, and just now, as Daily Mail reports, such a bid landed on Maksimir.

The British write that the negotiations between Modrih and Leicester are being held at these moments, which is ready for this jeweler to pay slightly more than 14.5 million euros. In the presentation of a young Croat, the island media stated that they had developed through the Dinamo School and that the seniors had a fight against Osijek in July 2015.
They also say that he is a regular member of the team playing in the First HNL, but also in Europe. Particularly its advantage is the height (1.94 m), speed and control of the ball.

Maybe we aren't so far away but it does look like Leicester are in pole position.

And just to back up the rumour from another site...

Filip Benkovi* has been training normally for some time but will not play in Kazakhstan.
It is allegedly preparing transfer of Filipa Benkovi* to a league of five, and for that reason will not play in Kazakhstan against Astana.

With only 21 years of age, Filip belongs to more talented football players. A brilliant defender with a calm play in a responsible position. Last year he was a standard beginner and an important link in winning the title.

Dinamo has already rejected bids of 12 million euros earlier, so it is believed that this offer is much higher.

Sports news says the most agreeable offer came from Italian Udinese. There is another story in Watford, and it is possible that this is primarily the case with the English.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that it is about Leicester when it comes to transferring players to England. Foxes are ready to pay Dinamo € 11 million with two million euros in bonuses at the club's account. Italian claims that the young Croat has already been linked with Inter from Milan.

Dinamo has asked for 15 to 20 million euros, but the final amount seems to be a little smaller. The fact that a player was often hurt and uninterrupted in the game, slightly lowered the price of the player, estimated at 11 million euros. However, exactly what the club is doing is still unknown.

People say we lack a striker or a new centre back, but a glance at any successful team will tell you we lack an ‘ovic’.

Don't know if you're taking the mick or not, especially with the mis-spelling of Maguire's name, but by all accounts Leicester have been in the market for a younger, rotation/development CB option for quite a while (before the World Cup and Maguire rumours started) as they had already let Huth and Dragovic go at the start of the summer.

Finally signed for one of the four transfer window hoover clubs - Leicester City - for £13m or thereabouts.
