Been told #Watfordfc have contacted #CFC over a loan for Fikayo Tomori. Seems an odd one as he surely wouldn’t get games given Cathcart’s new contract and Dawson signing. I took it with a pinch of salt but I know there’s a hunger for transfer news at The Vic so putting out there!
Was supposedly great for Derby last season and won’t their POTS. Saw some Chelsea fans on SSN at a pre-season game saying they want to keep him due to their transfer ban - but can’t see how he gets anywhere near their side with the CB’s they have. Would make sense if they want him to get PL experience. But doesn’t make sense with us letting Wilmot go. Surely better to put time into our own young players rather than somebody else’s...
Perhaps we believe this guy is closer to being able to be relied upon in the prem than Wilmott. Wilmott comes back ready to be back up / pushing for a starting place next season ?
There were rumours in June that Tomori could be leaving Chelsea on a permanent basis (for a fee over £10m). He has 2 years left on his current contract.
This signing would make sense - I suggested a loan with an option to buy for him in the transfer suggestions thread back on May 11. He won't be getting games at Chelsea given they also have Luiz, Rudiger and Christensen, and will be retaining Zouma. His form can be a bit hit-and-miss, but that can be expected given his age. However, he has a lot of potential and I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't take him very long to displace Cathcart. I reckon he has every chance of becoming as good as say Ake or Zouma.
Maybe the logic is that Wilmott will develop more as a first choice CB in a full season at Swansea, something he would never get at Watford. On that basis, pulling in someone else's youngster to play the 4th CB role in our squad (largely a non-playing role) would make sense
Completely agree apart from I don’t think Chelsea will let their player come here to be 4th choice. I would imagine there would be some level of guarantee about him getting a fair amount of games.
Best thing to do is just like all her posts then you're covered and it appears you're on the same interlektyouall plane.
TOFFEES EYE TOMORI Everton are exploring a potential loan deal for Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori, Sky Sports News understands. The Toffees’ first choice has been to re-sign Kurt Zouma but, with the deal stalling, they are considering England U21 international Tomori instead. The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Derby where he achieved promotion under Frank Lampard, who is now in charge at Stamford Bridge. Tomori is a product of the Chelsea academy and, having also spent time on loan at Brighton and Hull in the Championship, looks set for his first full season in the Premier League.
Everton supposedly now interested in Tomori (though it says on loan): https://www.skysports.com/transfer-centre Could make sense for them as he's basically Zouma mk2. Oh well, just gotta be content with relying on Dawson and Carthorse.
