Still think we got rid of him too soon.
A warrant has been made out for Sheffield Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri’s arrest after he failed to turn up to court.
Forestieri failed to attend Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Friday.
The 28-year-old, of Chambers Grove, Sheffield, was due to face charges of threatening words and behaviour, and racially aggravated harassment.
The offences were alleged to have taken place on July 24, and relate to a brawl following a "friendly" match with Mansfield Town.
Court appearance for a bad tackle and some verbals?
What a waste of time and money
It's ok Mariappa will visit him in jail and sort his family out with a short term loan.
I've been chased out of an auto repair shop in Mansfield, post match in about 1978/9,when we were in the old Third Division.
It wasn't the most inviting of towns,I always think of DH Lawrence and grim pit towns when I hear Mansfield mentioned.
That and the stadium announcer saying "negs weeeeek thestagserratome teh Rotheroom" or something similar!
He may never been seen again!
Here's the incident:
Run Forestieri Run
Whenever I go up to my in laws near Nottingham at least half the local news on TV is always devoted to acts of violence in Mansfield.
Forestieri is good Championship standard. He was capable of very inventive, skilful stuff, but it was too erratic and infrequent. He could also showboat and sit around pulling his socks up, instead of covering back or trying to recover the ball. He may well be generous to unlucky young mums, but he was a first-class cheat when he felt like it - I remember him collapsing in agony at Wolves when 'attacked' by a Wolves player, who was duly sent off - except replays clearly showed the guy never even touched him. In short: He went at the right time.
Abdi - yes, I would have kept him on without any doubt. But he was starting to collect injuries and WFC knew it. Shame, he was genuine class.
Vydra: Very strange. He scored some of the best goals I'd ever seen at Vicarage RD. Premiership finishing. But he's never really made it, has he? His body-language was wrong, even as we got promoted; he was acting like a bit of a loner, not a team man. don't know what that signifies, if anything, indeed. Could never quite work him out; I wonder if there is some story in there, not known to the general public.
Some good players in that team. I'm happy with the current full-backs, but was a little disappointed when Pudil was moved on. Similarly, at the time I would've liked Battochio to stay. Not as good as the CMs now though.
Surely you'd think he would be advice better than this!
Another player whose best days were with us.
Seems to have been a few like that from the Zola era...
As for Vydra - probably not a bit hard working physical Dyche type of player.
Free the Fessi One
Poor little mite
Hearing he's already been spotted in HMP shinpads.
Can’t believe that lovable little boy who played with his food and wouldn’t let anyone take away his Hornet shin pads is now 28
This shows what lit FF's fuse - the black defender takes him out off the ball during an attack. Fessi tackles the (wrong) guy back from behind. The original elbow in the face merchant then roars back and pushes Nando over. Then later cries racism...
So are the Mansfield players who assaulted Fessi also up in front of the court?
Or is it only him being punished because of the convenient subsequent claim that some hurtie feeling words were muttered whilst he was being beaten up?
Isn’t all this irrelevant compared to the fact that FF failed to turn up for his court appearance?
I'm sure the CPS have watched the whole video before deciding on charges.
If it's a fair reflection of what happened then an assault amounting to squaring up to and then pushing over someone causing no injury is never going to court, let along when it happens in the context of a sports match. That's what the FA are there is deal with. Plus, if we're applying legal principles to it, the two Mansfield players who put him on his arse could argue self-defence after he'd just gone through the back of their teammate. So I doubt the CPS would want to touch it with a bargepole anyway.
And, finally, on a technical level, the reason FF has been sent to court for this is because it's rare to deal with racially aggravated offences with out of court disposals. That isn't the case for a simple assault.
Bit uncomfortable reading people assuming the Mansfield player has made up being racially abused, without any evidence to suggest that. Seemingly just because the accused scored a few goals for us.
If he has used racist language he should be punished accordingly regardless of what happened before /after. People that defend him are allowing racism to creep in to society. Obviously innocent until proven guilty and none of us know what he actually said
Exactly.... we have to make sure in our healthy , rightful and positive pursuit to eradicate racism from society, that we do not allow people to manipulate that situation for their own advantage , if that happens to be the case .
FF & SWFC never got the email on the date for court case.
I would be surprised if Fessi was meticulous re emails.
This makes me sad and once again serves as evidence to make me think that we broke Fessi and ruined his life by selling him.
The lovable little scamp who played for us would never have got himself involved in court cases, refusing to play etc. He's clearly still hurting and acting out. Time to sign him back, get him back on the straight and narrow and right the most egregious wrong in our club's recent history.
I’d still have him here as an impact sub to replace our lumbering type strikers at 85 minutes. Or as a mascot. Either or
I don't care what he does, just want him close.
I feel like court summons are sent by post too
Hopefully, you’re not itk on that.
I doubt Fessi is totally on top of his post. I can imagine it being stuffed in a kitchen drawer.
Abdi, in my mind’s eye, would be much more meticulous.
Vydra can't buy a Prem start in a Burnley side who are struggling badly....so that's us, WBA & apparently Dyche who don't really trust him at that level.
