Ferland Mendy of Le Havre, a 21 year old left back. http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co....ng-full-back/story-30365932-detail/story.html French full-back Ferland Mendy is being tracked by Watford and Everton, as well as a host of Ligue 1 clubs. The 21-year-old currently plays for Le Havre in the French second division and is thought to be one of the most promising left-backs in the country. According to French sports newspaper L'Equipe, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux and Lille are all charting the youngster's progress alongside Watford and Everton. Mendy started 34 games for Le Havre last season as they finished eighth in the league, scoring two goals and assisting five more. He only has one year left on his contract and could be available for £4.3m - but a disagreement between his old agent and his new agent could be a stumbling block for the deal. However, it is certainly an area the Hornets will be looking to strengthen this season; injuries have meant that centre-backs were played out of position in the full-back and wing-back roles under Walter Mazzarri. Daryl Janmaat and Jose Holebas are the only two recognised full-backs in the squad, although young defender Brandon Mason will be hoping to feature more regularly in the first-team squad next season. Craig Cathcart and Christian Kabasele filled in at times during the season, but that is something that Watford and new head coach Marco Silva will want to avoid next year.
