Oh yes, I'm not denying that it was an achievement and a proper trophy, just not a major one that's all.

As someone on here pointed out, the Scum have two major trophies to their name - the old Second Division title and the League Cup which they still like to lord over us, and I was reinforcing the fact that we missed a big opportunity to finally get one at the end of 2014/15.

While strongly agreeing that winning a divisional championship is much better than simply getting promoted, it is certainly not generally recognised that winning the old Second Division/Championship counts as a 'major trophy'.

Was it Kayode Odejayi? There were a few home games in the spring onwards that season which were awful. Losing 1-0 at home to (I think) already relegated Scunthorpe was another.

Best for me was 05/06. I was too young for 98/99 but my expectations after losing Helguson and Brynjar Gunnarsson could not have been lower. We scraped over the line in 04/05 so to build so spectacularly from there was something remarkable. And yet it was a lot of the later signings which did it. Sietes, Griffiths, Devaney and Junior were in that first batch, after all!

Yes, that’s him. He missed an open goal, costing Barnsley an FA Cup Final, three days earlier but then destroyed our defence with two goals. He only ever scored 5 in total for Barnsley in 82 appearances.
