Defensive recruitment has been nothing short of a scandal.

Of course they’re not beyond criticism and are not perfect but this is completely stupid and pointless thread.

They’re not billionaires and they won’t financially gamble with our future by spending more than we have.

They have a clear model, it’s frustrating at times sure, but in the main it works or at least has for as long as they have owned us.

They like to buy midfielders and forwards because they have the most potential upside in value. They don’t like spending money on defenders, so far they’ve got away with it.

You’ve only got to look at the championship and league one to see plenty of examples of what a genuinely bad owner will do to a club.

I would of personally used the Sarr money on a defender. Obviously if Sarr bangs in 25 goals this season, fantastic. But can we really ever keep a clean sheet again?

We will be in the Championship after this season due to their disgraceful recruitment policy.

I agree that signings have been lacking in that area, but I’m surprised to see you’ve turned on pozzo from this (unless you’re trolling) IMO the departure of the Pozzos will lead to a swift downturn in our fortunes. To echo a19tgg, they have a system that has worked well for us. And frankly, why should they spend their money if they don’t think they’ll see a return on it? What they’re doing is a million miles away from a Mike Ashley sports direct style system of ownership.

I’m not necessarily happy but I’m a realist. So what if we get relegated? We'll still be in a far better position than when they bought us.

We are massively over achieving for a club of our size, go through the championship and it’s littered with clubs far bigger than us that have been ruined by bad owners.

Money in itself doesn’t even guarantee success, but unless the Qatari royal family or an oil billionaire want to buy us (which obviously they don’t) would you seriously trust anybody else to run us better?

Exactly. I'm glad the majority of the fan base are like this. Even if we lose, we can smile and go again. Apathy is definitely the right attitude.

    Enjoy the ride.

Nobody is happy Rookerylad. But I'd much rather be battling it out in the PL than the championship or even league 1 under baz, and for that we should be grateful

No point is asking them to go. They just need to wake up a bit and smell the coffee before it's too late.
We were sleepwalking towards the Championship at the end of last season. Most fans could see this. We are now jogging towards relegation. They need to stop it before it turns into a sprint.
They have said very little about the transfer dealings or how much was available to spend.
They must know that our defence is awful, they must be aware of how the fans feel and they can surely see the dross on the pitch.
They are not fools, so we can only trust that they have the club at heart and they have done a good job so far. Unfortunately, their business brains can't physically help on the pitch with our current crop of turds.
Who will be the next Manager is down to them and the fans will need to trust them.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and quite tiresome. Some fans would do well to read Graham Taylor's biography and glean some wisdom from it and grow up as individuals.

Thank goodness for the current ownership. They have put us in a place most could only dream of several seasons ago. Do you honestly think they want to see the team relegated ? Of course not. It would impact on the investment they have made. Either they will make changes in the managerial or coaching staff and certainly recruit in January in addition to Min Jae.

They don’t really need to say anything about how much is available to spend though. It’s a matter of public record every time our latest set of accounts are released.

I can’t remember off the top of my head but I’m sure our last set showed either a very small gain or loss of £2/3m. They also effectively lend the club money so to an extent we are running at a loss if they don’t put some of their own money in every now and then.

What is available to spend is effectively what we’ve been spending up to now, with us needing to sell the odd player every now and then when the price is right to help us break more or less even.

No one is perfect. We cannot afford to spend tens of millions no matter what world some posters think we live in in the current transfer climate. Yes the transfer priorities this summer should have been more directed towards the striking department and scooping potential talent from the academies of other PL clubs in the hope one might become a first team regular. The purchase of Dawson at present seems like a mistake but it does take time to settle in although you would have hoped an understanding between him and Cathcart could have developed in pre-season.

If they feel Giraldi has screwed up then no doubt they will remove him. They don't hang about usually.

Giraldi was having a big row with the stewards just before the end of the game as they wouldn't allow him access to the tunnel, despite several non playing squad members taking the exact same route across the dugout without being stopped. Seemed really strange!

It will come out in the wash R4E. Sadly it does not look like everything is happy behind the scenes although that is pure speculation. Teams which are struggling are seldom happy places.

I would think the players are hurting tonight if they do have personal pride and Gracia will be figuring out what went wrong and feeling under pressure. Not a nice place to be.

That transfer money to use figure would be in the January 2020 accounts made available to the Premier League.
By then we will be well on our way to relegation.

I think Javi's biggest fault is keeping faith with players who are clearly out of form.
If the team wins the players out of favour have no real voice but once they lose then divisions appear and factions develop.
I've played in teams where, because the captain was inept,it became divisive and that pollutes any chance of success.
I think Javi is as good as gone and his failure to drop people who are not worthy of a start is his major undoing.

I think it was our expectations they'd push on with us but we know with Udinese they just do enough to keep the side up. Also same with Grenada. Relegation battle after relegation battle.

Despite the awful start, there's not really been a player who's been consistently dreadful and obviously out of form in my opinion.

Although it came late in the window, not taking 40m for Doucoure and re-investing in some defenders, does look like a shocker of a decision. He was poor towards the end of last year, and has continued that form on with some aplomb
