So a penalty that wasn't a penalty and an offside goal turn 2-1 into 2-3. Joke.

Absolutely disgusting refereeing. The City wa*king commentators claiming that there'll be a big debate about VAR.

No there won't be. Because City won.

I'm sure Pep will sanctimoniously apologise again and claim they'd have won anyway.

Agreed. And that's what it's all about. I'll certainly be thinking that when Dot Cotton draws us against them during Eastenders on Monday.

No surprise. City for once are struggling, so can rely on the referee to help them out.

Happened in our match with them for the first goal. Happens all the time. This is why football is so orchestrated. They want a City v United final and will do all they can to ensure it happens.

Why can 't Swansea have VAR ?

    Modern ground with modern facilities.

Hardly some tinpot League One or Two stadium .

Im all for VAR but the way its being implemented is a joke and I can only see it continuing to be a joke.

  9. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

Exactly. Those Swansea fans can drink their pints later enjoying the debate that tonight has caused. If they'd won tonight with VAR, would they really enjoy it as much?

    No.

Swansea had VAR last season in the Q/F when they were in the Premier League. It is an FA rule, that only Premier League grounds can use it. So even if you have the technology for VAR you cannot use it if you're not in the EPL.

Still, it's all good. City won, and that's all that matters.

Lower budget, but extra dirty to try and make up for it.

At least the Swansea fans got a chance to gasp at the awesomeness that is Manchester City, that will make up for the crap refereeing they had inflicted upon them.

Referee guessing on pen. He had no line of sight on the incident & didn’t consult the lino.

    Amateurish.

Joke. From out the cup to cup favourites due to officials.

Abu Dhabi United slowly but surely must be becoming one of the most hated teams in the country. Swansea have been shafted by the officials. Shafted by the FA. Surely if one FA Cup quarter final has VAR then all should have them. It is not as if the Liberty cannot be equipped easily with the appropriate technology. Disgusting result for a disgusting club. So sorry for the Swansea fans.

I don't care about the Swansea fans tbh, but I do want justice. I'm also unhappy as City are still in the cup. Had Swansea knocked them out, it would have been a huge bonus for our chances for going all the way.

City are an amazing side, and if you add they have all the officials in their pockets, then they become invincible. The only thing they may struggle to win this season is the Champions League. This is because the officials are neutral in that competition.

It would have been one of Swansea’s greatest results.

Is there any published ratings of referees?

And they have VAR. Which ruins the competition. And makes my beer taste bad.

    And there is VAR.

Ironically in the week they were complaining it was taking too long to make decisions but they were right ones ..

It is not clear to me how it is possible to beat Man City. A team with unlimited resource and when they remotely struggle they either cheat (Silva v West Ham), get an absurd referee decision (Sterling v Watford) or both (Sterling and Aguero v Swansea). All within the last month. Disgraceful.

Yeah but ignoring all those things, what a team!

Putting all that aside, it would have killed the competition to have the Manchester sides go out. It's good for the competition that the biggest sides get through. It's an honour to even be in the same competition

We have earnt £1,395,000 in prize money so far with a guaranteed £900,000 (should we not make the final) so in effect our win today was worth £1,620,000 £720,000 today and a guaranteed £900,000 in the semis!

Matic and Rashford both banned for the semi-final if United get through, having picked up their 2nd yellows tonight.

Absolutely gutted for Swansea. I'm not usually a proponent of the "biased ref" viewpoint but those decisions for Manchester City leave a nasty taste in the mouth.

Meanwhile, Rashford and Matic both out of the next round, in United get past Wolves, so may not be a bad time to meet them...

Edit: great minds @UEA_Hornet? (or fools seldom differ ;))

Bit puzzling who we would like to go through here wolves/man utd.

The best chance to win it is brighton/millwall, then wolves in the final. But that means if we finish 7th we also have to win the cup to get europa league. Plus if wolves win and get man city I fancy man city 95% so its unlikely to have the millwall/wolves scenario. Man utd / man city I'd say was 45/55.

We would be 40% likely to beat Utd, 5% to beat City in the final, so actually our best chance of silverware may be utd going through?

    As i type Wolves score.

Wolves have taken the lead against United. Only 20 minutes for Martin Atkinson to save United's dream.

EDIT: Now it's 2-0. The ref's got his work cut out now.

Such a shame about Swansea - would have been great to have had none of the "top 6" in the final four.

Yeah this season you are a better side than us for sure. All 3 of the games could have gone either way I suppose, but you came through in all 3, hats off.

I think I was gracious in my post, but I will reiterate again, on the day you deserved to go to Wembley because you took your chances in a game where chances were at a premium for both sides. I really believed we would do it today but that’s the life of a palace fan (and I’m sure Watford fan on different occasions). I came on here giving it large and we lost so I now graciously bow out knowing next season we could nick a few marginal games against you lot.
