Likewise, i though the support was good especially with what was happening on the pitch. Not sure why some posters on here feel the need to constantly belittle watford fans

Still waiting for someone to explain how anger is an over-reaction to a record FA Cup Final defeat.

    Maybe you could?

    Good work, IH.

There was a lad, maybe about 7, just down from us in full kit.

The adults seemed concerned about him but he seemed to have a brilliant time waving his flag & being part of the occasion.

One benefit of the flag waving was that I didn’t the sixth.

The Watford singing went up a level so I assumed we had conceded.

Three times? I think I changed arm at least ten times in the end.

Maybe it’s a sign of me getting older, but then you get elderly conductors who manage to hold up a baton with the same hand for a 60+ minute symphony...

If anger is what you’re feeling then nothing wrong with that at all. You’re posting that on the forum and many on here don’t agree and are saying so.

Most of what you post on this forum is jokes and sarcasm, mainly aimed at the views of others, so maybe that’s just how people see your views now? Nothing wrong with that by the way, people can ignore you, find you funny, skip your comments, take them with a pinch of salt or even agree with what you say - even if they generally wouldn’t do it in the same way.

Likewise. I definitely thought one of the main benefits of the flag waving was that it completely blocked my view of the pitch. The chap behind my sister and I was (very politely and non aggressively - this was the Southern County Hornet group after all) bemoaning the fact that he couldn't see what was going on, which surprised me. That last ten minutes, when I couldn't see what the heck was happening (including their 6th goal), was my favourite part of the match. It was also a good arm work out.

I didn’t realise VAR has to make a religious offering at every match too. We’re going to have some disappointed players next season when they find their goals awarded to various prophets at the behest of a man watching on telly from PL HQ.

    Anger isn't an over-reaction.
Be pissed off at the team selection, the tactics maybe, the failure to take that early chance or get a pen, the individual performances, the lost chance to actually win a major trophy. The match yesterday was bloody disappointing.
But accept that they are 48 points better than us. It was a cup final and they weren't going to be anything but ruthless. BBC shots stats were something like MC 23 chances, us 11. I'd have taken that ratio before wouldn't you ? They were just clinical. They were just miles better.
Reflect on the fact that those same guys got us to 11th in the prem and a cup final. Maybe the 2nd best combo in the clubs history ? The last month has been really disappointing and yesterday was rubbish from a football point of view. But those lashing out at the players, manager and owner are forgetting everything that went before. And the fans were just brilliant, before, during, and after the game.

I'm not having a go at that, we are all angry, disappointed, and negative about our performance yesterday, but the losers attitude has been on here since the semi, and I felt that we approached the game as losers, and then ultimately played it like losers - and we lost. There is a degree of self-fulfilment in such defeatism.
    Great post, that.

True, but you need to have a lot of mental stamina and focus as opposed to simply twirling a flag and shouting “Yellows”, and for a longer time, so I’d say the two are comparably draining in their different ways.

On this tangent, it’s amazing how much such a profession keeps conductors alive when the stress from most other high pressure music careers usually does the opposite. Many of the conducting greats have lived well into their eighties or more.

    True.

I don’t recall Von Karajan even whispering Yellows during the noisy bits of the Fifth.

Well according to these Palace fans we lost 6-0 because we weren't allowed to hack City to bits as VAR was on show.

    https://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=174746&page=2

Still bitter then about the 3 defeats - and I certainly don't remember hacking them off the park in the Quarter finals as claimed by the Chris guy.

They would have done better I guess - Zaha could have broken up the game by falling over each time he had the ball getting free kicks etc.

Funny how playing defensive suddenly seems a good idea for fans when it suits them!

With the exception of Woking, I think all the teams we knocked out would have put up a better showing against City then we did. I think Woking would probably have done about the same as us.

It must really wind up fans of those clubs to know they couldn't beat THAT Watford team.

was at the final in 84 if we put in the same commitment yesterday as then we may have not got turned over so easy. I don't think GT would let that happen yesterday, or maybe the players don't get cups of tea thrown at them anymore. what really upset me was seeing Mr non success just walking back when we were under pressure it's the cup final show some effort ffs

Well if they defend well maybe but I doubt a bunch of semi professionals would have coped with how Man City played - the movement and pace.

They might have kicked a few but with VAR probably would have seen some red cards!

    Probably right about the others:

Newcastle would have been really well set up defensive wise, Wolves would have probably scored that Pereyra chance.

Yep this is exactly the problem. The lack of commitment from 2 nil down on is what led to the world record defeat. If we'd have at least got into them for 90 mins they'd have just kept the ball and we'd have lost only 3 or 4 nil.

We should have been snarling but instead of that we meekly spread our cheeks. Id have been happier to lose 7-0 with 9 men.
