Been a very good championship this year.

4 people in the running going into the last race. I'm hoping it'll be Webber, he deserves it but I just know it's goign to be Alfonso:rant:

Alonso needs a Hamilton/Glock type moment otherwise its Vettel's title...in a rather typical German way.

He hasn't been in front all season but probably iwll when it matters most!

How I laughed when Alonso started blaming everyone but himself for the defeat, even shaking his fist at Kubica on the after race lap, (shame he couldn't manage to get that close in the actual race). I also noticed he sulked off at the end whilst the other title contenders gave Vettel warm congratulations.

I shall watch it again next year only to hope the miserable **** that is Alonso loses regularly.

    Well done Vettel, well deserved.

I agree with you on everything there admin, except one point. It was Petrov not Kubica that Alonso was giving the finger to on the slowing down lap. I didn't like that filthy Spanish arse before that moment and I like him even less now. Petrov (who's had an iffy season) drove a super race to keep not only Alonso but also Webber behind him.

Thanks Stuboy, shows how often I watch GP these days.

Well Vettel was my 3rd choice to win after a hopeful 3 car file up on the first corner to allow Hamilton to win and if it wasn't him, I wanted Webber but as others have said, it was good to see Alonso not win!

The lack of sportsmanship shown to Petrov was appalling. I suppose he is so used to his team-mate being pulled over to allow him past, he expects everyone to do it.

Admin, I would recommend you get back into Grand Prix racing because this is 3 years in a row now where we have had championships go down to final or penultimate race. The big tip next year is another young German driver Schmacker or something whose team Mercedes are will be going for it big time next year. The only real issue I see with F1 is the fact that they keep on building these new tracks with wonderful facilities like Abu Dhabi but forget to put any overtaking spots there, good job Korea is a winner though.

F1 is expanding again, Grand Prix set to take place in India, US (on a proper F1 circuit not as Indy one) and Russia in the near future

It's a competitive sport and the bloke had just lost the World Championship two minutes earlier. I think Alonso's entitled to a rash reaction and given he's come out since and made perfectly reasonable comments to the media I think he can be forgiven. You can't seriously expect him to say, "Jolly good show!" to Petrov at that point in time?

Plus it all adds to the fun for next season.

Give them all the same engines and let's see who really is the best.

As for Alonso it was hardly as if he lost on the track. No more do drivers actually race each other to the finish. It's more to do with the tactical nowse of the team management.

He lost the championship by pitting atthe wrong time not by actions on the circuit.

At least tax dodgers extraordinaire Lewis Humbug and Jenson Bottom didn't win the title.

Hence why teams take more interest in the Constructers championship although having the "best driver" helps their profile too.

My tip for 2011 is watch out for Schumacher. This is based on two reasons. Firstly, towards the latter end of this season it really looked like he was starting to get it together again by outperforming Rosberg, and secondly, I've heard a rumour that the Mercedes KERS system (which is being reintroduced next year) is better than anything else on the grid - at this stage.

Agreed I have heard this too. I'd also like to add to the reasons:

    • He's now had a year in the team developing the car to his requirements
    • The other mercedes powered team - McLaren have not tested with the new tyres and that's a big disadvantage
It's worth laying a few quid on if the odds are decent. - 11/1 at bet 365, he's 4th favourite and ahead of Button.

Yep, they are hoping Schumacher will do what Button did last season and set the early pace. Will certainly be interesting next season!

As I understand it none of the team have tested with the new trees yet. The first open test is coming up. McLaren are the only team not represented by their race drivers. They're sending their testers instead with the 2010 car.

Forget what I said about Schumacher earlier in the thread. The Mercedes still looks a bit iffy, better than last seasons car but not by a long way (maybe I can be proved wrong again though!?). The Mercedes does look good to the eye though, very sexy.

I like the old Lotus livery reappearing on the grid. Pity Mercedes cannot go all silver either as a tribute to their racing heritage.

Will this season be a procession again for Vettel ?

Wish the other teams like Mercedes, Force India, Williams and Sauber were closer . Even Ferrari are lagging behind.

Hope tyre wear makes it more exciting in future races but it seems an arbritary element . Also pray for rain in several races.

And CM will release F1 2011 on September 23rd so we can drive round the new Indian circuit before the circus gets there.

Hopefully CM like many of the teams will make sure there are no defects in their package.

Lotus, Virgin and Hispania same as usual. Considering the budget differential between RB and Hispania unsurprising.

Oh for the days when teams could enter and even be competitive in their first or second season.

As well as the engine, the chassis and the management...

In 2008 they finished 9th overall, with a best result of 3rd in a race.
In 2009 they finished 1st overall, with 8 1st place finishes.

Fair enough they bought out Honda, but it wasn't a simple rebranding!

Also, nowhere was it mentioned that it had to be a grassroots new team.

Astonishing finish to the race. Literally jumped off my sofa when Vettel ran off on the last lap.

For once, I was actually hoping Schumi would do well!

Did Vettel get booed? I was ready to turn off after it was delayed for so long.

I don't think the stewards can really blame Button for the Alonso incident. Racing incident as they call it.

It was great to see Button win. he should of won in Monaco, but the team ruined it for him. He was so quick at the end it was great to watch. I think he may also have overtaken every car on track whats amazing.

I still fear that the win maybe taken away from him, but we will see.

brilliant race. the ending was fantastic!

like others have said i jumped off the sofa when vettel ran wide, jenson did a brilliant job all race long fighting against adversity.

did some quality overtaking. hope the stewards dont take it away from him now.
