I still maintain that Cavalli's debut at West Ham was one of the best Watford debuts of all time. Shame he barely played again because Boothroyd thought Damien Francis was better.

His left foot was an absolute wand. I used to watch a fair few reserve games for some reason when he was here, and he was always the best player on the park, even against the likes of Chelsea reserves. Unfortunately, he did not suit the Boothroyd physical demands, being 5ft at best and shaped like a barrel. The fact that he has only just retired at 39 shows that his footballing and physical ability couldn't have been that bad.

Another midfielder around that time was Adrian Bakalli.

Even GT had his odd moments of random signings !

He was before my time as a Watford player, but I remember seeing him playing at Vicarage Road in the Johnny Williams testimonial match and he was amazing.

Its actually pretty easy. It was Quinn. By a long, long way.

Dixon did little but he was mobile and moved about a bit. Senior was atrocious and took a lot of the blame for the decline post GT.

Moralee was poor, but he did score a lovely goal for us once.

Quinn literally looked like he'd been plucked from the Rookery after finishing his Pukka Pie. There was nothing about him which suggested he was even a competent amateur footballer.

Look up mercurial in the dictionary and you’ll see a picture of him & Craig Ramage.

Good goal but love the one against Derby more, even though we lost. Something very satisfying about the way he started the run from deep and the play just developed around him, allowing him to lash it in first time. My favourite type of goals are the ones with clever, incisive passing and movement like this.

What was ironic about Quinn was we had him towards the end of the season , at the start of the previous season (93-94) he scored an opening day hat trick! in the Premier League for Coventry away to Arsenal they won 3-0, a very steep fall!

I still remember the epithet 'the fastest man over a yard.'

I was genuinely excited when we signed him, as I was with any new player in those days.

We signed so few players, compared to now, that we projected hope onto everyone, no matter how far fetched.

    I loved Ramage.

Still have the newspaper cutting after one good display with the headline 'Ramage does the damage'

My first ever Hornets match happened to be 17 year old Tony Currie's full debut (I think) against Bristol Rovers in Sept 1967. A thumping 4-0 win and in my mind it included a Currie hat-trick but unfortunately he only scored the 2 that day. He remains, to this day, my Watford hero and I've been hooked on all things Watford since then. Has cost me a fortune and a lot of angst but the addiction, joy and frustration lingers. It beats the hell out of bedwetting or COGing!
