Everton Football Club is in talks to move out of Liverpool to a new site in Knowsley, it is confirmed. More...
Yet another club talking of leaving an historic ground in order to move to an identikit stadium in an out-of-town redevelopment. We'll regret the loss of all these stadiums once they're gone...
I reckon my mate will be gutted, he’s always proud of Goodison and the history it has (even though the site was originally used by Liverpool!) How far is Kirby from Liverpool? Shame that stadiums with ‘character’ are disappearing, and when done on the cheap I don’t think the replacements look that amazing. One of the reasons I’m glad we’re not leaving the Vic – proud of the fact we will remain situated near the old town centre.
Very true. At least the Vic has history. Who was the first club to get an out-of-town identikit stadium? Derby must have been one of the first.
The back lash from the fans for surrendering the City to Liverpool will be enormous. Whilst money might talk the fans will certainly want their say.
Boro opened the Riverside in 1995. The Stadium of Light and pride park were both 97, I think Slumberland got a friendly in before derby though.
Which is why re-developing the Vic is the best plan of all.... I LOVE IT!!!! Have watched it develop over the last 33 years and looking forward to its next chapter!!! Stick your Reeboks and your Ricoh's up your arse!!
Sorry mate you,ve got your history a bit wrong there. It was Everton who used to occupy Anfield but they moved after an arguement about rent with the owner of the ground, a Mr John Harding, who then formed his own club, Liverpool FC. John Motson.........never heard of him.;D
