What is it with Miami, going with everybody's leftovers.

First Culpepper, then Trent Green, now Chad Pennington. Deary me. :dismay:

Titans had their first preseason game yesterday, and we got a peek at the moves that Chris Johnson has. If this guy can move for 16 games like he did yesterday, I feel a lot more confident about our chances.

Preseason is where you hope you can unearth some gems down the roster who may need to step up if you get a few injuries.

    The results are immaterial.

If you're a known quantity, you'll get a run out, and then a place on the bench.

The whole point is to see what ELSE you got out there. The squads are huge at this point and in a couple weeks, they will cut the rosters down to the size they need to be for the whole season.

Is it wrong that I put Chris Cooley in my fantasy team simply on the basis that I liked his trick with the plaster?

YAP - are you doing the NFL Fantasy on NFL.com.

I know they have 12 people leagues and I was going to ask if there was any interest on here.

  9. Y&P

Yep, i'm in an nfl.com league. Their form of fantasy football is far superior to ours, I feel.

Fantasy sports was invented for the purpose of being applied to the NFL. It is very cool. I would do it if I didn't waste all my time on soccer message boards.

What are the big matchups in week 1?

I may be headed to San Diego for a game this season.

My first NFL game, if I go.

And we treat you as the all-knowing one?

I don't think I'd enjoy going to an NFL match. I don't sing or anything at Watford matches, and I really like Watford. If I were to go an sit in the middle of a fat ******* with a slab of cheese on his head or dressed as an indian I would feel really out of place.

Anyway, I'm looking at Cleveland and Houston to have big seasons this year.

The big match, I suppose, will be the Redskins @ the Giants. Reigning champions come crashing back to earth with a defeat against a rejuvenated washington. Look for Campbell to have a big year too, he loves his west-coast defence.

I know ****, but I like talking about history. I'm probably all wrong in what I think I know anyway, so feel superior to me knowing that I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

I'm really unperceptive when it comes to sporting strategy, except basketball. And the upcoming NFL season schedule.

Who's got the first Monday night game? Who are the Ravens playing? How about my ex-best buddy Brett Favre?

I have no idea what to expect at an NFL game. I am totally fucing bored at baseball games but I actually like football. I always have a great time at college football games. I may try to catch a Cal Golden Bears match this year, too. BTW, we defeated Michigan State yesterday 38-31.

    Go Bears!

I'm sure an american football game would be much better to attend than a baseball game; baseball being the sporting equivalent of stella artois.

The Ravens start with a home game against Cincinatti Penetentiary and there are two games on Monday. In fact, I might just offer up some picks here:

    Washington @ Giants
    Detroit @ Atlanta
    Cincinatti @ Baltimore
    Seattle @ Buffalo
    Jets @ Miami
    Kansas City @ New England
    Tampa Bay '@' Nawlins
    St Louis @ Philidelphia
    Houston @ Pittsburgh
    Jacksonville @ Tenessee
    Dallas @ Cleveland
    Carolina @ San Diego
    Arizona @ San Francisco
    Chicago @ Indianapolis
    Minnesota @ Green Bay
    Denver @ Oakland

NFL games are much better live than Baseball. I have seen SD@SF at Monster Park and it was at least 10 times better than Baltimore Oreos (oreoles) @ Toronto Bluejays.

I was going to post something like this for us NFL fans. A friendly weekly competition to guess the results. The person with the most correct picks is that weeks NFL guru. As soon as the next round of games comes round, the title is up for grabs again.

Work sucks ass. I did not have time to do this until after the first game, but I was going to choose the Giants simply because they won the Super Bowl last year, so count me as picking them as if it was before the game was actually played. Or not.

    Here are my picks:
    Washington @ Giants
    Detroit @ Atlanta
    Cincinatti @ Baltimore
    Seattle @ Buffalo
Jets @ Miami [Why would you bet against Brett, fools!]
    Kansas City @ New England
    Tampa Bay @ New Orleans
    St Louis @ Philadelphia
    Houston @ Pittsburgh
    Jacksonville @ Tennessee
    Dallas @ Cleveland
    Carolina @ San Diego
    Arizona @ San Francisco
    Chicago @ Indianapolis
    Minnesota @ Green Bay
    Denver @ Oakland

Bah. I was one click away from getting Patten off the waivers. I shall have to settle for Bush's points.

    E-A-G-L-E-S.

We're going all the way baby.

Favre with a great throw to open his account for the Jets...the game is pretty even so far though.

Too bad you guys can't get college sports. There were some FUN games yesterday. I like this time of year, when college football is running, NFL is on, the MLS and Euro leagues are going...nice.

You and sonofben can be football buddies!

NASN used to be on Sky, for a price. I'm not sure if it is any more. That showed college sports.

Words cannot describe my delight at Brady's injury. That'll show him for being so bloody good.

    Cal 66 - 3 Washington State University
Cal's Javid Best ran for 200 yards.

Very close game between Notre Dame and lowly San Diego State at ND's home stadium in Indiana. SDSU was up by a touchdown with little time left, but a turnover on the goal line led to a ND TD and then they nailed another one on before time ran out...a bit like Real Madrid needing extra time to beat Real Salt Lake.

Not a bad debut for your Golden Bear here Fitz. We'll jus thave to hope this isn't a flash in the pan against a team which is, as far as I can tell, absolute *****.

Tennessee just gone 17-7 up against Jacksonville. Get Kerry Collins to engineer a great drive when you need him and Big ole Lendale to barrel over the line.

Second game...they beat SEC mainstay Univ of Tennessee in their debut last week 38-31. I was surprised the team that had to outscore Tenn could hold WSU to 3 points. Yes, WSU seem to be pretty bad, yet they put 13 points on Oklahoma State last week, though they lost 31-13 or so.

I meant DeSean Jackson at the Eagles to be honest, but its good to know that I can still pull out an accurate statement on the old college ball.

Jackson will be a great pro. Cal's former star running back Marshawn Lynch had a pretty good game for Buffalo, too. Let's see how Aaron Rodgers does for GB!

On the talk of rookies, Tennessee rookie RB Chris Johnson had 93 yards on the ground, 3 receptions for 34 yards and a receiving TD.

And the experts on NFL.com were talking down the impact of rookies on Week 1.

Have a look at the Bills-Seahawks game, brilliant punt return for a TD and a fake field goal pass that went for a TD. Seahawks special teams will be doing a lot of sprints this week!

    Just saw the highlights...nice!

My wife made me go outside for something that caused me to miss the final play of the Chargers game. We are not speaking now.

    Next: Bears/Colts.
With Brady likely out, this puts the spotlight on Peyton to be the top dog...

    Go Bears!

Bears beat the Colts alright, which puts the Titans top of the AFC South.

Unlucky about missing the Carolina TD Fitz. Sounds like that was a good game.

The Pats are looking into bringing in Chris Simms, who was hardly spectacular with the Bucs.

With Cassel and Simms they won't be the kings of the AFC and will have to play very well to make the Championship game. It could still be possible given their quality on both sides of the ball.

Indeed, McNabb throwing for 350yds was certainly a very good display. Whether that continues or not is for us to see.

St Louis will be the whipping boys, soon to be followed by San Fran on yesterdays showing.
