So pretty much called it apart from Portugal where I was wildly out.

Prior engagement Thursday so see you all Saturday

That was beautiful, that terrible winner last year has brought out all the wacky Eurovision entries instead of just ballads and dance songs. I'm thinking Czech Republic and Iceland will do well, although knowing Eurovision they'll vote for someone like Greece (Jess Glynn with a cold) or Australia (excellent staging, average song).

It's a shame Portugal didn't get through, but San Marino's answer to Pitball smashed it. Kind of.

San Marino was my tip from the beginning, but the chap had no voice come the live performance. The professionals get it and voted him through but coem Saturday unless he pulls his socks up that's it.
    I got 28/1 for a top 10 finish.

Also had a cheeky each way punt on Denmark 125/1 quarter odds for top 4

Treat Eurovision as the joke it is and it's excellent. Terry Wogan used to have the odd shandy whilst commentating and Graham Norton (not my favourite person) chucks bitchyness in as well as getting pissed.

We had an excellent impromptu shoutbox on here one year where we all got very drunk. A couple after that but last year was a damp squib and I won't run one this year as we'll all be celebrating after the FA Cup win.

San Marino is great, until you see the bloke singing. Gutted as the song is perfectly cr*p enough for this competition to do really well. My daughter described it as....WOW, (not a good wow).

Otherwise my thoughts on, (in my humble opinion), the best songs are as follows, with my 17 year old daughters thoughts thrown in and she listens to music 24/7...

Australia, the sort of song the European donuts will vote for but they hate English speakers so not a hope. In reality I honestly have no idea if they'll love or hate it. Daughter says "weird".
Azerbaijan, 20-1 on Betfair to win, has a chance, teen gives it 10/10 and no doubt the Europeans will like it.
Cyprus, 140-1 on Betfair to win, (after qualifying), teen also loves this one and says 10/10, I can see it doing well
Czech Republic 170-1, teen uses a word that is very rare when talking about music which was "Cool". Got to be worth a top 10 at 3.65's
Sweden, 2nd favourite at 7's on Betfair, 9/10 by the teen and the sort of song that you can see being played at the Finale. If they played this as we lifted the cup I could live with that.
Norway, teen says "cliched", so perfect for our European cousins. Going off it now but worth a listen just for the Simpsons movie "epiphany" moment.
Ireland, whilst I like this the daughter says "boring". Kiss of death. Going to put a small bet on it to get into the top 3 tonight at 24's.
Denmark, one of my favourites but absolutely trashed by the teen. That hurt. Really good odds but she's put me off by being so mean about this song.
San Marino, still gutted, see above.
UK, unlike many on this thread I think it's one of our best entries for a while. It'll bomb so badly that I'm almost tempted to bet on last place.

As for the others, how are The Netherlands and Russia hot faves? Not a hope in my eyes.

    My bets:
    Ireland to qualify tonight. £2 @ 12.5's
Ireland again. Top 3 in qualifier to see how my prediction skills are going. £2 @ 24's which is awesome odds.
San Marino top 10. Just because the odds are so good and he might, just might get a cult following. £2 @ 12.5's
Azerbaijan to win. This is the sort of bet I'd lay off when it started doing well but unfortunately I'll be in a pond somewhere. £2 @ 23's
Cyprus top 5. Odds could be better but I can see it happening. £5 @ 5.1's
Czech Republic top 5. Would prefer top 10 but odds not good enough. Top 5, £5 @ 11's
Sweden to win, I can really see this happening. £5 @ 7's
    Denmark, no bet.
    Norway, no bet.
    Australia, no bet.
UK. Last place, they f***ing hate us. £2 @ 6.4s

    Total bets £25. Returns...

Be watching closely so you can cash out at the right moment, which in the UK's case would be now.

Actually the standard of the second semi final was much higher. Latvia was pretty good too. I'm not sure if I like the song, or the women singing them that's influencing me.

Having said that Russia had a great visual, and the song was good too, and that was sung by a bloke.

Norway will pick up a lot of points, so no Nul Points for them this year.

From the first semi final only Serbia stood out for me. The rest was Euro Trash.

European d*cks wouldn't know a decent song if it smacked them between the eyes. Ireland out.

    Australia going to win this.

    Norway, Italy and Azerbaijan good.

UK deserve relegation for that dirge.

Controversial end to the act, what with the two performers walking side by side, arm in arm up the steps with Man City and Wolves club crests on their backs.

Not sure why the UK still enters the Eurovision. They are seen as a joke and one will ever vote for them, no matter how good the song is. I can't believe you've not woken up to that.

I thought the song was ok, but the singer was a little weak, although the performance was not the worst by any means. Political voting will always sway a lot of votes, but overall the best few songs end up on top. The UK have not been close since 2002 when they came third. They did come 5th in 2009 but the was a one off. Mostly you have been in the bottom 5, finishing last on 5 occasions since 2003.

Never mind still entering the Eurovision, why do we still fund it?

Although he finished last and was utterly dire, we should all be proud that he turned up. And whilst he didn't win, it's the journey that's important.

Our guy was terrible and finished where he deserved, I'm not sure why Graham Norton was acting like it was some farce. He sung an average song like a cabaret singer, with irritating cliche diva head wobbles and gestures, with absolutely no staging. No matter which country sung that they'd have been propping up the table. Some of the recent years we've been on the end of some poor voting (we had one with some crazy staging a few years ago, sung by a brunette woman) who deserved much more, but this wasn't one of those occasions.

I was expecting Norway to win, they won the popular vote but the judges were very harsh. On the other hand earlier I suggested Czech, they did well in the judges round but terrible in the public vote.

The dutch song wasn't my favourite, but at least it's a genuine song and I can see why people voted for it. Much better than that bloody chicken song from last year. Forum coach trip to Amsterdam for next year's Eurovision?
