    Err the problem is simple.

Our players aren't as good as we all like to think they are.

Why do none of our players play abroad? Because they are cr@p and only look good in the English leagues.

Who plays abroad? Carrick did for a bit, thats about it. I bet you anything that if half of our most hyped players went to play for Barcelona they wouldn't even get in the first team, because they wouldn't have anywhere near the technical ability. Who watched Italy go out? Their passing was outstanding - crisp, controlled, accurate. A million times better than ours. If their team weren't all 40 and lazy they wouldn't have gone out. All we do is hoof and hope.

I wrote this before the WC:

Gerrard, Rooney, Lampard etc etc are simply not as good as we all like to think they are. They only play well in the Ennglish league because the English league relies on alot more hoof than any other league. Not world class players I'm afraid.

Capello should go. He was brought in to improve our standing in World Cup football. Hes taken us backwards. Playing 4-4-2 at this level is equal to school boy football. Its predictable, ponderous and can quite easily be undone, as has been proven. The USA game was ok, it was our first game. The Algeria game was completely depressing and a mess. The Slovenia game we started to show in patches what we are capable of. The Germany game wasnt bad until the Germans scored their third and we started to chase the game and went to pieces.

The one thing a manager needs to do is get the best out of his players. Capello failed to do that espeicially with Rooney and Gerrard because he played them in the wrong positions. Rooney plays as a lone striker with supporting midfield players. Gerrard plays in a midfield role supporting a lone striker. Its not rocket science is it ? In the Germany game, Ozil was a danger with his pace. Lennon has pace. Ozil played in a position where that pace was utilised. Can the same be said of Lennon, when he played or Wright Phillips for that matter ?

For all that Capello has done in the respective domestic leagues he has been successful in, he has been found wanting this time around. Even a simple thing like communication seems to be problem. I watched his news conference and could hardly understand what he was trying to get across, so gawd knows how the players must feel. I think we have the players but again we have been let down by our manager. The players have proved that in Eurpoe playing for their respective clubs they can compete with the best.

Personally Id give the job to Redknapp with Beckham and Pearce in supporting roles. Capello at 6 million a year is not worth it. Its money down the drain.

To even compare SWP or Lennon to Ozil is laughable. Lennon and SWP are both farking woeful.

Neither can cross, neither can beat a man, neither can shoot. They both just run in a straight line nad hoof the ball into the first man or balloon it out of play. Especialy Lennon, the most overhyped player in England.

The fact is, SWP and Lennon wouldn't get anywhere near any other country's national team. Capello has a bunch of overpaid prima donnas who are overvalued in the English leagues but aren't anywhere near as good as their value suggests.

Real Madrid don't want Lampard, Bayern don't want Lennon and Inter Milan don't want Gerrard. We have zero technical ability, and those with technical ability (A.J) are left behind in favour of the 'bigger' names. Its about time we accepted that the current generation of English players simply aren't world class, as they have shown by giving abysmal performances at every major tournament for about ten years now.

That being said, I think Capello did a farking crap job and has shown himself to be too set in his ways to ever adapt to a situation. I don't think Capello is the right man for the job, but we need to realise that don't have the playing staff to win a world cup first, and start investing in our grass roots football.

I wish people would stop talking about formations. Rooney and Gerrard did not play **** because they were out of position. They played **** because they were ****. Transfer Gerrards ****** play to another position and it would still be ****** play. Put Rooney in a different role and the fact that he did **** all for 4 matches would still not prove useful.

The players were ****. Capello must take responsibility as a manager, but let me reiterate the key point here, the players on the field were ****.

Youve missed the point me ol darlin, I was comparing the managers and how they can get the best out of the 'TOOLS' they pick to play.

Just caught Lampards interview from yesterday, I think its fair to say he couldnt give a flying **** and couldnt even be arsed to hide the fact he doesnt give a flying ****. ****ing disgrace. Hang the ****ing lot of em.

Capello has blamed it on tiredness.

Give me a break you utter ****.

Here's a screenshot courtesy of myself on the amount of games played between English and German players.

It beggars belief. And shows he doesnt know what hes talking about. Or hes covering up for his inability to get the best out of players. The FA have decided on a 2 week amnesty to see if they can afford to pay him off. Most of which will come from people renewing their England membership. I for one wont be.

How long does it take a professional footballer's highly tuned body to recover after a match? If it's more than a couple of days, when he's fat and out of shape. How can tiredness have anything to do with anything?

I bet you though, that the upshot of this debacle will be a new manager (English of course) a mid winter break (as if that solves anything) and some sort of compromised cap on foreign players - perhaps that all teams must name at least 1 English player amongst the match day 16 or something. Then we'll all wonder why in 4 years time, that our new, innovative approach hasn't made a sh1t of difference.

Stop being 'obtuse'? Hark at you. 50% of everything you write is the opposite of what you mean.

I was being pretty clear - why get so worked up? Failure was obvious before the team landed even in South Africa. I'm just surprised you had enough hope left to feel let down. Fabio is a total chancer - the 'Peter Principle' gone mad. He makes Aidy look like Jonathon Miller.

Until we start regularly beating the best teams the only way to support England is with a slice of good humour and the most moderate of expectations, expectations that hardly require £6m of anyone's time.

So whats the answer Moogus ? Get an English manager in, sack the board, mid winter jols, decrease salaries, get Collen to her **** out etc etc ....?

The answer for me my mate (Not Marmite....well maybe in Newcastle) is not to go to games. But most will. So nothing will change as long as people are putting money in the coffers. The only time things will change is when people dont.

You were being obtuse, because you know damn right why people on here and all over the country are worked up.

If you're not, why log into a football messageboard in the closed season and seek out posts about England's failure to post on them, unless you're being a bit of a titty?

  21. wfcmoog

    wfcmoog Tinpot

Unfortunately, for those of us who aren't arse kissing glad handers at the FA or owners of a Premier League team, that's all we can do. That and post on here and shout about it at work.

As you say though, it won't make fark all difference and we'll be just as **** for the next 44 years as we've been for the last, because there are enough silly willies out there to stock all the footie coffers chock full of lolly for a 2nd rate product with slick marketing and branding.

Except he was quoting the fitness and conditioning coaches,so surely they're the ones in the wrong. Any fule could see the England team were knackered from the moment they kicked off verses Mexico.

Getting the best out of players means playing to their strengths ol son, like playing Gerrard behind a lone striker, like he does for his club. And who appoints the fitness and conditioning coaches ? The manager.....maybe......

John Terry said they were finding it hard to adapt to the conditions in South Africa after the little Pre-tournament friendly against the local club side...

Maybe a bit less golf and more resting was required...even if it made them "bored"?

:yawn1: Never said I wasn't interested, just not hysterical.

Overall people are a lot, lot less worked up about it than they used to be. They understand, as you do, that football has floated away from them and become...product. That's why I'm surprised you are so raw about it.

Concentrate on giving the likes of Johnson, Wiltshire, Rodwell, Hart international experience, don't write off the other young guns like Walcott and Lennon. Axe those on the way out (Terry, Lampard) and salvage the rest (Gerrard, Cole) and give them one more shot in 2 years at the euros.

One of the oldest squads at the tournement, time to reboot and best prepare the young'uns coming through

Having a long season is not great. Matches are now more physically demanding than ever .

However when you watch Tevez for instance and Kuyt yesterday no signs of fatigue.

It does help if you can keep the ball and make the ball do the work. Far easier on the body.

I'm not hysterical. I'm absolutely considered and measured in my calls for a public beheading of the entire squad and coaching staff in Trafalgar Square.

Itd make great telly, espeicially on Sky. Theyd jump at the chance to screen it. and then screen it agin on countless debates, phone ins, shows, just like they do every other 'controversial' decision that happens in fotball. Maybe its why FIFA wont bring in goal line technology. Cos then theyd be no controversy and nothing to sell as add ons.

Its all about money. Like I said before, we're the stupid ****s for paying to go to games and putting money into the coffers. If we stopped theyd soon change their tune.

Listening to Guillermo Thingybobo on Five Live earlier, he said much the same thing Spud. Controversy in football gets media coverage and media coverage gets more money for football and FIFA. He's a Spic though, so what does he know?

Speaking of which the BBC has outpointed ITV in this aspect.

Seedorf has been far more insightful than Davids who seems to be in a daydream in the studio.
