It's hard to see where he is wrong, save most players didn't go all the way in the national cup competitions so that doesn't seem legit...correct me if I am wrong.

I am feeling very little Group C hate flowing in my veins this morning, now that group play is over and the USA has finished on top. I will put my support fully behind England against Germany, and may even visit an up to now strictly verboten English pub at 7am to show my support.

We will lose this game on one individual battle imo; Podolski vs Johnson.

Ozil, Schweinsteiger and Khedira vs a vacant England midfield imo..

I agree with this , I think Johnson could possibly be the most over rated footballer currently alive (considering he is supposed to a defender..)
Podolski on form is **** hot....

BUT Schewinsteiger is injured aint he...? and IF Cappelo had the balls to play a winger err on the wing , we could have Gerrard in the middle , its frankie that needs dropping....

I know mate , but it looked like a muscle injury the way they were treating it , which could rule him out for sunday , as its pretty close...

Be a shame if he's out, Schweinsteiger's one of my favourite players to watch and he'd ruin Englands midfield as it is..

  13. Wazza

Schweinsteiger is pure class, as is Ozil.

It would be a shame if Schweinsteiger isnt fit because I would like to see all the great players playing on Sunday.

Have to agree with Leights, Johnson is pony and way over rated. How much did Liverpool pay for him? Near £20mill wasnt it? If he is worth £20mill god knows what the British transfer market has come to.

Fingers crossed for an England win, but I wont hold my breath!

So just finished watching the first half.

Inept, no width, defense is dreadful.

Still how on earth is that goal not given. Disgraceful. Rugby, tennis, cricket, they all use technology and the game is not ruined. about time fifa learned how to adapt to the modern game.

    Ridiculous.

Joe Cole on for Milner, our only creative player and then you still keep Gerard on the left.

    Capello out!

Madness. Total f**king sh*t from the players, sh*t all tournament, didn't even deserve to be this far, **** them all. Oh yeah and where the **** was fat boy Rooney? 30+ goals for United and doesn't even touch the ball for England.

I hope Sepp Blatter gets monkey aids.

Well, how to sum it all up. Mere words can hardly give voice to the waves of disappointment, sadness and the sense of betrayal which England fans must be feeling, following this World Cup showing - and words aren't enough. We need action.

England have been dire from the start, in fact, they have completely failed to get started this tournament. Don't talk to me about disallowed goals, refereeing decisions or different footballs from what they are used to - pure and simply the 20 odd players who've been involved have performed so far, far below expectations, as to make the failure of this world cup campaign just seem surreal.

Aside from a few very brief moments, the England team has simply been nowhere near good enough. We've been outclassed by a poor Germany side, limped past the minnows of Slovenia, failed to break down Algeria and USA and it's just been painful to endure.

What to do now? I suspect we'll have several months of introspection, the sacking of Capello, the appointment of an English manager and perhaps some attempted measures to improve our national chances, such as a winter break or a domestic player requirement.

There can be no easy fix for the clearly massive problems facing our national side. The manager will go and then what? Mostly the same players will line up under a new man and be all happy for a while, until the pressure begins to show again. What about the deeper issues? Where is the next World Class goalkeeper going to spring from? How are we genuinely going to create a pool of talent which creates competition for places, so that when Rooney is ****, we have a plan B and when Terry is shown up, we have an alternative.

We need to completely overhaul the national game. We just don't have enough good players to be as good as we think we are and those world class ones that we do have, are basically a bunch of *******.

I'd like to see Terry, Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, A Cole, Upson etc, banned from ever pulling on the shirt again, but I know it won't happen. Who is the alternative?

Seriously, England needs to spend 3-5 years making massive changes with a plan to create a genuine pool of talent so that perhaps in 12-16 years, we can finally be as competitive as our domestic football league would have us believe we are.

Jesusmarynjoseph what a shambolic performance. Capeelo has to take the blame. Gerrard plays behind a lone striker for Liverpool, Rooney plays mainly up front on his own for Man Utd. Defoe and Crouch play up front together for Spurs. Its not rocket science is it ? 4-5-1 should have been our formation. But no. Capello sticks with 4-4-2 and then when we're chasing goals brings on Heskey. A player whos scoring record is abysmal at this level. Great if youre winning and you want someone to hold the ball up and waste time. But not when youre chasing the game. I agree with the Moogmeister. The FA need to seriously look at our game. Even if it means limiting the amount of foreign managers and players in the English game. Its no surprise that the countries with the most foreign players playing in their league have failed miserably. The whole games needs a massive overhaul. We werent just beaten today we were outplayed in almost every department by an average German side. Outthought, outplayed and out of the World Cup. Its been an embarresing to watch and quite depressing.

    Goodness me.

Somebody needs to call the International police and report 4 English defenders plus a midfield as missing.

I am not sure if Germany have ever had it so easy attack wise.

Maybe the game would have been different had Lampard's effort been given but overalls we've been a shambles and don't really deserve much more.

Watch Rooney and co fire in the goals come August!

In someways it might be a saving grace we don't have to play Argentina.

Maybe the pundits won't write the Germans off so quickly as "average"?

Wish we had a couple of goalscoring strikers, midfielders who can control a game with such simple skill and passing..

But the Germans are average. They have a decnt midfielder and 2 quick front players. We were absolutely diabolical. We need an English manager. Someone who can get acrooss not just tactics and formations but can convey passion., motivation, make the players understand what it means to represent their country.

Yawn. Those things shouldn't need to be conveyed, they should be there from the start.

You need a spliff or your best equivalent.

How on earth did you go into this tournament with such expectations?

Euro 96 hurt. 98 hurt. Portugal hurt x2. This didn't hurt at all. We were rubbish going into it and rubbish all the way through.

I was driving friends to the airport and I wasn't even bothered that I was going to miss the start. At least the roads were free.

    Very true.

Maybe its way we don't achieve at the top level with these players.

They don't have the desire or hunger of other international sides.

The 2 lads up front for Germany hardly score for their club but get bucket fulls in the national side...why?

Germany don't have the same big names as years ago but they are a young side with players coming through and ofcourse nearly all play in the home league rather than over here or in Spain so not highlghted as much.

    Agree

This golden era of Beckham, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Terry and Lampard, so called top class international players have now failed in 5 major international competitions.

If they haven't been good enough in the last 4 then they weren't going to be good enough in this one.

At best i thought we would make it to the quarters, but no further. No shocks, no suprises and no pride

    2 things from that game...

Lampard GOAL... Oh wait we have a shyte ref... (being a Watford fan, i'm use to this)

Beckenkrautsbar (or what ever the little judas pr*ck is called) "England play kick and run football"... Your last goal? Hooof up the park, some polish person runs onto it and then you lay it across for pretty much the only German on the pitch (bar the ref) to score? "beautiful"....

However, England team: You're all a disgrace, get your head out of your arses, you're not footballers, you're all Wannabe Celebrities. I tell you what, James Corden, Dawn French and Peter Kay would have shown more ability on the pitch than you.

Well Watford could have defended that better.......

The Kaiser is right. English football has not really progressed far. Aside from Rodwell, Wilshere and McEachran and Hart there are not top class replacements.
