Doesn’t work for Duxbury. Tried about 3 weeks ago.

Poor sod, what on earth were Mr & Mrs Lastname thinking, must have had a tough time at school. Glad he's found a job he loves, makes all the difference and probably deserves it.

We thought the problem was Giraldi before that, he didn’t sign Rob Elliot & Dan Gosling though did he.

It’s way deeper than any one individual now I think. Collective shitness all round.

    Surprised to see this here.

Apart from his empty words which are a waste of time, does he actually have any input into recruitment strategy? I thought he was off the field bloke.

Should be walked out the club for the Ben Foster situation alone.

He’s allowing the club to become a player circus. Ben Fosters attitude is laughable - get rid of him to make a statement or Dux needs to go.

Yea might be someone else gave this bloke the tickets of course .

Players get allocated tickets then family and friends collect them before the game .

Maybe someone in the ticket office should have asked a few questions but then they were probably over run with people struggling with the ticket system .

Foster has clearly made sure tickets were allocated for a Liverpool fan to sit in the home end, the guy even said it himself. There's no skirting around it.

The Ben Foster situation is a side-show, and Watford fans who are in hysterics about it are distracting from the main problem - year-after-year failures of recruitment that have left us with a squad that is lacking both quality and depth. It's particularly acute in terms of defence, and particularly obvious in terms of a midfield of parts that don't work together.

THAT is Duxbury's failure, along with Pozzo's, as I don't believe Giarretta has much influence. And that is what we need to worry about in terms of relegation.

Or a family member /mate passed a ticket on?

Probably happens all the time but this time the bloke was a idiot who couldn’t be trusted obviously.

What's the point of this comment, though? Do you think this is some paradigm-shattering, genius innovation of a conclusion you've miraculously come up with?

These issues are discussed and debated at great length on here almost every day - there are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of words written on the subject of the Pozzo gang's ongoing failures of recruitment and the resulting problems with our squad - meanwhile, no one is 'in hysterics' about Foster, and it's not 'distracting' from anything - it's just another element of the murky soup that is the current situation, and one that happens to be particularly overtly and unnecessarily bad PR in an immediate sense; it's seen as emblematic of the priorities of the club and its players - an extension of that squad-building issue. Foster being our goalie is, after all, a direct result of their failures in recruitment, and complaints spring fundamentally from the fact that as a player, he is putting in consistently substandard performances.

If there was any way in which the failings of the club as a whole were being neglected purely in favour of a campaign against a single goalie, this point might have any worth at all, but there isn't, so it doesn't.

I'd be pretty confident Foster gave him tickets in exchange for him filming segments in the stand for part of Foster's YT video.

If Foster was decent, I'll not lie - I'd probably overlook all his YT crap, including inviting this fan on.

The fact he has been crap for a couple of seasons though means I'd rather we played Bachmann (who is also fairly crap). I've pretty much written this season off anyway.

The Foster and Bachmann scenario is similar to my garden clean up with the poop bags on Sunday. I’m pleased when I see a fully formed hard one.

Do you mean the last two full seasons or 2020/21 and this one?

Last season we kept 10 clean sheets in 23 league games with Foster between the sticks, and 13 in the same number of games with Bachmann, and given that we had Sierralta playing most if not all of the time Bachmann was playing, I'd say it makes them about equal. Also this season we have conceded 8 goals in 5 games with Foster (and that includes the thumping by Liverpool) and 7 goals in 4 with Bachmann.

So is your point that you'd agree with me that the two have about equal ability but with different strengths and weakness, but you'd rather pick Bachmann because of the YouTube business and inviting the fan in?

I think they are both pretty crap but at least Bachmann seems to actually care about winning/losing.

Interesting that, in the comments under his article this morning on Saturday's 'performance', even Leventhal himself has come out publicly against the way the Hughes situation was dealt with this summer:

Think his comment is a bit more neutral. Could certainly be interpreted as blaming all sides (ie, including Hughes and Vernazza).

Interesting - taken in conjunction with the comment it's replying to, I don't really read it that way - to me it fully reads as though he is as opaquely agreeing that the Pozzos dealt with it wrongly as a very aware hand-feed-relier could do.

Let's discuss it on the next pod.

Hallelujah. Will Hughes was our best player for the last two seasons and should have been the top priority to keep. The fact that he wasn't feels like a case of the club (probably Pozzo) digging its heels in over a relatively minor disagreement. Such a shame.

Giaretta actually strikes me as a positive tbf, clearly he knows his onions but he's involved with so many incompetents at this club. What does Duxbury even do?

    Sorry.

I will get the splinters out!

    :p

Obviously the correct procedures haven't be done here.

I just don't believe Foster would have literally handed a ticket over to this game but prepared to be corrected and obviously it's not a good look.

I suspect this lad was doing more than celebrating a goal too.

Duxbury keeps to safe keys secure and attends At Your Place events after Watford have a good season.

    It’s important stuff.

Yeah, but I'd prefer a crap keeper who tries, rather than a crap keeper who laughs whilst our fans are hurting and who twists the knife by giving opposition fans tickets in our home end.

Like you, if he was world class, we'd all forgive him, but he's not. He's just a **** keeper making us look like fools for playing him.

Nah, he's wrong. Hughes turned into an evil, greedy monster overnight, and showed contempt for the club by refusing to sign whatever was put in front of him. Pozzos only looking after our interests.

This is as bad as the time they didn’t say goodbye to Mappz!

Seriously though, the club promoted it on social media and congratulated him today. I’m not sure quite why Brimson is having a tizzy about who attended in person. No doubt if someone did the complaint would have been they weren’t senior enough or whatever.

That's a ******* disgrace. What's worse is the handful of fans on that Twitter thread giving excuses for the club.

**** this hierarchy at the club and this owner. I'd rather be a League 1 club with an identity than the hollow, loathsome shadow of a club we've become.
