Didn't Chelsea have a first team dominated by "H's" around the same time? (Harris, Houseman, Hudson, etc.)

Saw the Walker / Welbourne / Williams unit in my first game (Dec 1970) although DW came on as a sub replacing Ray Lugg......

    Very sad news.

Like others have mentioned he was playing when I first went in 1966.

    Hard as nails.

    RIP Chopper.

Before my time as well, but well known and looked upon in such greatness and a passion for the game. R.I.P

Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

'Walker, Welbourne, Williams' is almost like a line of poetry from my childhood.

Almost Proustian conjuring up the smell of stale tobacco.

I don't know how many times they played together but it seemed like forever, a golden age of childhood.

    A legend for me.

Strange how you remember the lineups from when you first used to watch, yet struggle to remember the ones in between then and now.
Yes, I am well aware of the medical term for this - Thanks!

The last ever match I went to with my Dad (before he died much too early) was the infamous Semi-Final at White Hart Lane. The Welbourne/Harris coming together happened right in front of us on the "shelf" side as I recall. I turned to Dad open mouthed at the ferocity - he simply smiled and said "good tackle, Choppers".

I can imagine the frothing and posturing of the pundits today.
