Welcome aboard. Some of us have been committed to this cause for 2 years now and finally seeing the dividends for planting those seeds. Fans finally starting to realize that Gino is just an Italian Mike Ashley.

I must admit they've succeeded in pulling the wool over my eyes for too long. The optimist in me gave them this window to sort out their blaring effin mistakes over the last 18+ months. But sorry this window started well with Zinckernagel but the ineptness of the owners is really showing it's true colours now.
Thankfully I've finally seen the light

Confirmed, on loan until the end of the season.

Also confirmed: our hierarchy are mice in a maze.

We can confirm Domingos Quina will spend the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign in La Liga with @GranadaCdeF.

I know I'll be laughed out of town in this current anti-Pozzo climate, but there has to be some intelligence behind what we're doing right now. Surely it can't be all panic, as in get rid of anyone we can because we're a sinking ship. This is what it seems like, but we do need to bring in another midfielder and a central striker. There is still 13 hours to go and I hope this is the plan.

With the Chalobah rumours, there has to be at least one more incoming midfielder or else we'll be left with Cleverley, Hughes and Gosling for the final 20 games. All three are injury prone and two are over 30. Even if Chalobah does stay, I'd say we're running light on numbers for this position.

However, all this is immaterial if we do not address the central striker issue. If we bring in no one, then the automatics will be beyond us, and I don't expect us to battle through the play-offs either without someone who will take chances in vital games.

We'll see what today brings, but if, as expected, no significant incomings deals are done, I think the Pozzo's will be under heavy fire from the fans.

Best of luck to him hopefully he gets the minutes as more often than not has looked distinctively average in the Championship with flashes of talent.

If I was a promising young player looking for the next step in my career, I genuinely can't think of a club I'd be less inclined to join than us. This is happening too often to be a coincidence.

Good luck to him, guess he wanted to leave after being benched and not getting game time. The club treats it's young players like ***** too so who can blame him.

Also, I know where I'd rather live.

I want to say ‘I fail to believe we’d sign off on this deal without knowing we have at least one player coming in...’

But the problem is that I don’t fail to believe it. I entirely believe it.

Sacking a coach because he was too defensive and saying in the summer that the club wants to go with the promising youth that’s at the club - proceed to take away an attacking, young option for the new coach.

There can’t be anyone left who genuinely believes what they are told surely?

I don't know. There's seemingly people buying the whole 'going to a Europa League club that's in the top half of La Liga from a pissant Championship side to get minutes' thing.

Then again, to acknowledge that is to acknowledge that a team can thrive after the Pozzos. So they've probably got a block in that area.

I don't understand this club anymore. Ever since that Cup Final we've gone off the deep end. I've generally backed the Pozzo's here more than most but I'm at the end of my tether with them.

So that's Capoue, Garner and Quina out with Dan Gosling in so far for central midfield options. We've also lost TDB from our position at the end of the summer window.

Lost Capoue, Garner and Quina. Got in Zinc and Gosling. One more would make sense unless Chalobah leaves then we need two. I would say Gosling and Zinc are upgrades on Garner and Quina. Somebody like Longstaff would make it a pretty good window in terms of midfielders

C’mon boo hoo. If the club wants to pay me £400k a year, like it pays Quina, it can treat me like a doormat.

Quina has had plenty of chances and the club clearly thought of him as a first teamer this year. He’s not been good enough, but he is still earning a good living, gets good medical care and free lunches. Up to him what he makes of his chances.

I was under the impression PZ was brought in as we were already incredibly light in wide midfield options, so was coming regardless of CM ins and outs.

  21. PowerJugs

True, but he was a goner regardless and that was last Window. Point still stands it's a very thin midfield currently.

But we were told that the moves for Zinckernagel were first made back in Oct/Nov time. Did they know they were letting Quina go back then, when he was still playing and under a manager who they had no intention of sacking at that point?

PZ was surely coming in to bolster us, not to replace Quina. Although I do agree that’s how it’s played out - I just don’t believe it was the plan!

I don’t think the club are thinking of making 2 signings. I think it’ll be one-out/one-in...but we won’t sign anymore if no one leaves.

I’d agree the squad will be a little stronger if things stay the same. But I don’t think the club have addressed two of the three issues that we desperately needed to heading into the window. They’ve solved the 3rd GK problem - but no CM creativity and no decent striker. Let’s hope it changes...not convinced though at all.

He played loads of times before injury this season though?

And there was a lot of mixed opinions on him.

I shall reserve judgement until 11pm or more probably the end of the season.
Quina has flattered to deceive and you have to wonder if his attitude is suspect, not every player, especially a young player is a model professional. More than one coach has tried and not continued with him.
He may also prefer sunnier climes, who wouldn't on this gray, whoops Freudian slip, grey February morning.
Good luck to him he certainly has talent but there are plenty of talented athletes coaching or in another job.

IF we get replacements for Quina and Chalobah I wouldn't be upset to see them leave. A big IF though. As others have pointed out, it would have been logical to have replacements, accepting that they will be cheap options, lined up before we agree to them departing.

Agreed, he's somehow worse than our current midfield which doesn't bode well for his future - it's clear he's now 4th or 5th choice.

I think If I was in Quina's position I'd also take the opportunity to move to Granada - whether he'll get game time, who knows, but ultimately I rather be sitting on the bench there than here.

The point remains about how ***** our young players are treated.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is I have no evidence to back up my theory and that Quina was shyte.

I think Zinc could be the creative player in the middle with Sema and Sarr as the wide players leaving Pedro/Deeney up top. Hughes/Chalobah/Cleverley as the holding midfielders. Gosling seems to be a box to box type player. Could certainly do with one extra as we have 7 midfielders for 5 positions so an injury/suspension issue and we're in to Dan Phillips territory. It's not a bad selection of midfielders though

I'm not sure how I feel about Quina. On the one hand he seems to be our only attacking CM who is skillful, prepared to take people on and has a great shot on him. On the other hand he appears lightweight and gives the ball away too often, making it a risk to play him ahead of more "solid and reliable" CMs. I guess any young attacking CM is always going to be frustrating as they develop before reaching the consistency required to be a top top top player. Look at Barkley and Grealish at AV. Ok he's not at the level they were 3-4 years ago but it wouldn't surprise me to see him develop into a quality attacking/creative player a few years down the line. The trouble is, allowing him that development time in the first team may well cost us points...

Zinc is a winger. It’s centre mid where we are looking short on cover now. Need at least 1 in I think especially with the injury record of Chalobah and the fact Cleverly can’t last more than 70 mins any more. Isn’t Gosling injury prone as well? (might be making that up).

Certainly wasn’t a wide player but we like playing central midfielders there and leaving hyped up wingers on the bench .

All well and good until you realise Xisco hasn't played that style once, has used Zinckernagel sparingly and only out wide. Theres nothing to suggest we aren't going to stick with 4-4-2, bypass two CM's with long balls and the odd time we don't, those CM's are just 5yd sideways merchants. The names we are being linked with suggests thats gonna continue.

A questionable attitude, ineffective performances and the lockdown breach - no surprise to see him being shipped out. Gray ticks all the same boxes but his salary hinders him moving on. I can't imagine Quina is on big money.

No loss here and no need to replace. The squad desperately needs trimming down in numbers so this is no bad thing.
