Just thought it might be of interest to some. 2 short documentaries I made last year in Norway about footballer Gary Martin.

And second one about Netan Sansara.

oh i'd come across the Gary Martin one before. Both players have moved on from Norway now i believe... Martin to Belgium and Sansara to Canada.

I guess there are whole legions of British, let's say "lesser players" plying their trade in the less fashionable football backwaters in recent years. Another fall out from the foreign legions in British football.

yeah they've both moved on at the end of the Norwegian season. we filmed this last Cctober.

There's a a few British player abroad. Mainly because they can play at a higher level abroad, but in the UK they would likely have to settle for conference football. For example, Gary has a contract retracted after a trial with Hartlepool and 2 years later he scored in the Champions League against Celtic in Iceland.

Ingolstadt wanted me to sign for them in the early nineties (only for their stiffs) when they were a much smaller club, the money they offered was a pittance although it's not why I declined. It would've been only part time at best and as I was working all over the country just impossible.
