His best return in the league we play in is 7, playing 34 times for a team far superior to ourselves. He then went to Wolfsburg and scored 6 in 31. There is nothing in his record to suggest he is going to suddenly come here and double those totals. I'd honestly rather persist with Gray, who we spent £18m on and need to get some sort of value for money from. If 6/7 goals is the benchmark set by Origi then I believe Gray will do just as good a job.
Knock down the walls It's alive in you Knock down the place You alone it's true Knock down the walls It's alive in you You're gonna keep your head up through it all You're gonna bust out, oh yeah! Origi at Watford Break out, yeah! Origi oh yeah Bust out, oh yeah! Origi at Watford You'll never stop now, stop now That's what the main men say
More talented than what we have but for whatever reason he hasn't shown it in the stats. Mental? Not settled? Who knows but he's the type of player who has been promising a good return for years now - this might be his last season to live up to the billing. I'd be happy to take that risk.
A 5th season of boredom? No thanks. I'd take a few seasons of fun in the Championship over the last couple we've had.
If you are playing in the championship the aim should be to get in the premier league, with the then aim of staying there! Unfortunately to stay in the P.L. and be secure year after year takes years of practice! We are still practicing!
Origi well You came and you gave without taking But I sent you away Origi Well, you kissed me and stopped me from shaking And I need you today Origi
This would be a good signing. Obviously not quite good enough for Liverpool but could definitely do a good job for us and he’s still very young.
20 of those appearances that season were as sub though, most of them as a very late timewasting sub. He was on the pitch for the equivalent of 16 games playing time and scored 7, with no penalties inflating the stats. It's not that much of a stretch to think he could get to 10 if he played twice as much for us. Agree that you could probably say the same about Gray, but Origi for Okaka would leave us with a better squad.
Isn’t it amazing how Gray is becoming a better and better striker as the summer goes by? However a Belgian international who has played for one of the country’s top clubs would surely be better at controlling a football.
I would be happy with this - he suits the way we play, bags of pace and a good finisher - I think he's a lot better than his reputation and stats suggest - he's an improvement on what we have and it wasn't too long ago we were all getting excited by mbaye niang - and I think Origi is similar but better
Anyone who thinks Origi is not a step up to Gray is bonkers or did not watch Gray last year. Origi never got a run at Liverpool. He undoubtedly has huge potential which a good run in the team could unlock.
His highlights video from his last season at Wolfsburg is pretty bad to be fair. He didn't look any quicker than Gray for one thing: As I said earlier, I think he's worth a punt on loan and has potential if he gets opportunities and can stay relatively fit, but there's also a chance that his past injury troubles have taken too much away from his overall game.
I think you are overstating his potential. As a replacement for Okaka, then yes. But if he was bought with the idea that he’s the new, improved starting striker, then I’m really not sure.
No - unfortunately I don't think he's good enough - quality in the championship but I think he would struggle in the prem

Origi is 23 and he’s scoring a goal every 2.5 games (minutes wise) in the Bundesliga/Premier League. Also proved he could score goals in Ligue 1 at a young age. At 22/23 Portu was scoring a goal every 5.5 games in the Spanish second division. Even after having the season of his life he only scored a goal every 3 games in La Liga. Zaza scored 13 and Stuani scored 21 last season! Considering they’d probably cost similar prices (Origi maybe £5m or so more) I think it’s quite a big risk to take a £18m punt on a 26 year old who’s had one good season at a decent level.
I've been going through the Belgium sites (like you do) looking for any links between WFC and Origi and there's very little being said. That in itself is unusual because they do seem to like reporting on any footballer from Belgium anywhere in the world! Those that are reporting the rumour seem to have done so after The Mirror and the Express first brought it to light. The one mildly interesting thing that did come up was his contract is up next summer. So, IF we're in for him there is no way Gino would pay £20m+ for what looks like a mis-firing striker in the last year of his contract. That would explain the initial offer of a loan. Knowing Liverpool could lose him for nothing next year are we trying to bring the price down to buy cheap now. - or - Do we want him here for a year with a promise to the player of prove yourself this season and here's the contract you can have next in 2019. That's if we're after him at all of course. It may well just be Liverpool getting his name out there so they can offload him before his contract does run out. One thing I forgot to add - Newcastle have also been linked in the Belgium press with him but they seem intent on getting Rondon from West Brom (that has a great rhythm to it if said correctly!) and have recently bought another forward - Yoshinori Muto - who is, however, waiting for a work permit. It would seem fanciful that they'd buy three players in one transfer window let alone three forwards though.
Listen Grandad, I know you old timers still hate Palace the most, but Muff are our rivals now, get used to it
Son, unless you've experienced the intensity of a Watford vs Palace Wembley final, you don't know what a rivalry is.
My Dad still tells stories about the rivalry with QPR in the Lee Cook days Shame we don't have a proper local rival like that now
Sevilla are our rivals. Mrs Moose won’t even have their oranges in the house. None of you who weren’t at the Sevilla friendly a few years back know what a balls out, teeth bared rivalry is.
Loans have helped staved off relegation before and he's not a bad player at all. Rather him than Ings or Solanke any day. Someone like Batshuayi would be outstanding but I can't see it happening.
Was decent for me on FM18, though him and Adalberto had a falling out after a couple of seasons and he was never the same again. Sold him for 23 million to West Ham, much to the delight of several players who’d backed our Venezuelan super-striker in the training ground bust-up. Worth keeping in mind if we decide to go for him.
