Yeah, obviously our Govt are just looking at the raw numbers and nothing else. Looking at Croatia, they gave the deeper info such as hospitalisations etc and they are negligible in comparison to other places not on the list. And it’s a number of people under 25 who have pushed the rate up... We were going to Split for 10 days with a few spent on Hvar island in the middle. But it’ll have to wait for another summer now sadly... Thankfully the swap was relatively painless - BA swapped flights by giving me a voucher within minutes which I could use against a different set of flights. And I cancelled the hotels last night at 11pm and I had the money refunded by 9am this morning. Felt incredibly sorry for the hotel owners - they are having to refund against their own policy and I’m sure there’s an exodus now. But we have managed to get a good deal on a 5* hotel now in Athens with rooftop pool and views of the Acropolis - so I’m happy enough now!
Went to Split and Hvar year before last. Would highly recommend. It's a shame you had to change your plans; hopefully you can get there at some point.
A pool in Athens would be amazing! I've been to Split several times over the last 20 years, great for wandering round, food etc. The Hajduk stadium tour is worth doing. My only complaint is that it is heaving with tourists now, but a lot of Croatia has gone that way. My trips to the former Yugoslavia are more focussed on Bosnia and Serbia now - party as I've been to Croatia so often, but also they are less touristy and more friendly. My summer holiday was originally the Greece part and then onto Romania, but we scrapped that bit and moved it to half term. Whether that happens or not is up in the air, partly due to covid and partly due to the broken ankle I picked up in Greece. I don't fancy trying to get a refund off Blue Air or Tarom compared to BA.
That would have been an honour. Did it on a water obstacle course on the sea. The sound of the snapping bone was probably music to Vlad's ears.
https://www.sportime.gr/paok/paok-apokalipsi-marseig-ke-nioukastl-stin-koursa-gia-giannouli/ PAOK are apparently very keen on keeping Giannoulis. In France Marseille have reignited their interest while Saint Etienne & Rehn (Rennes?) are also sniffing around. Newcastle are on the fringes of the teams looking at him and along with Watford are the only English side mentioned. We supposedly have a good chance of signing him but there's no logic suggested to back up that claim. PAOK have knocked back offers of €3.5m and their asking price is somewhere around €5m or €6m.
Being "very keen on keeping" him doesn't really tie in with the statement that they just seem to be asking for another €1.5mil before they agree to the sale. It seems whichever the first, or perhaps top, club is that offers about €5mil will get him. Also, Marseille? Oh ffs!
I know, it seems a bit strange how it's translated re. badly wanting him to stay against can you offer us a few more shillings and he's yours.
I don't see we need another LB, perhaps there was interest if Estupinan wasn't coming here but unless Masina is for sale I call this BS
If there is interest in either Masina or Estupinan then it makes sense to have something on the backburner. Both these two and Kiko (who can fill in at LB) have been linked with moves away so can't rule out the need to bring in at least one more FB.
Newcastle have supposedly bid €4.5m. Marseille and L'Asse(?) lurking in the shadows with their collars up, devices on and are waiting for the signal to either steal the player away or slink back further into the darkness. https://twitter.com/ManuLonjon/status/1297548925927395330?s=20
**** knows man, if we can make a fair whack from elsewhere, we might be in a strong enough position to tell Osasuna or whoever to do one
Giannoulis played the whole 90 minutes as PAOK Salonika beat Besiktas in their Champions League Qualifier this evening. Still coming to The Vic?
I just watched it outside a bar in Athens whilst my wife puts the kid to bed - was the standout player on the pitch. Would be a clear upgrade on Masina but I still don’t think we will spend near £5m on a LB unless BOTH Masina and Estupinan leave. But from what I watched tonight, if that’s his usual level, it would certainly soften the blow of Estupinan leaving.
Estupinan will go. You don't get lauded as arguably the best left back in La Liga and then play for Watford in the Championship.
Serious question are you a manic depressive? I can’t recall you ever having a positive thing to say about anything.
We need to get someone in for sure Feel sorry for Ivic preparing for the season knowing that the best players in sessions will be gone and no chance to work with any replacements
Not right now we don’t. Masina is still here and the only stories we have had from anyone even remotely close to the club is that Estupinan is staying.
