Ha, ha. Of course I never said this you silly boy. But do carry on with your crusade.

No they are not. Why would you think they are? You are having an odd one comrade. Quit digging and join in supporting people who take a stand.

No one has a monopoly on getting it right and yours is not a good argument for not supporting BLM. It’s a good argument for all of us to examine our POVs and that’s what BLM is asking us to do.

Do I support the individual's comments that represent the political arm of BLM. No. Do I believe in anybody's right to protest against injustice. Yes. But the point still stands...many people were hugely hypocritical (and this isn't aimed at you) about how one injustice is outrageous and anybody who disagrees is a racist and a separate injustice was justified

    Anyway...let's enjoy the game

Fair enough and ain’t no one exempt from that last point.

Adding to this - if the BLM movement is hijacked by anti white racists (it isn't unless you live on twitter and get your news from russia today) - calling BLM a political organisation and associating it with the fringe extremists only empowers the extremists. Normal people shouldn't be afraid to support a cause because of a few extremists - it's how we have got a ridiculous situation where "men's rights activists" denounce "feminists" when really the true feminists and mens rights believers would strongly agree on most things.

On the BLM GoFundMe page the organisation intends to be ‘guided by a commitment to dismantle imperialism, capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and the state structures that disproportionately harm black people in Britain and around the world’. That sounds highly political and, for the life of me, I have no understanding how dismantling capitalism can help the black cause. So, if a group want to portray a noble cause, then stick to the simple message which is "injustice and racism happens and we want to stamp it out". Nobody can disagree with that!

Sure. It can then make some posters and we can carry on happy we’ve done our bit and nothing will change.

People need to stop wetting themselves about this minor threat. If you think capitalism can work for black and white people alike maybe change it so millions in the UK don’t have to visit foodbanks or that many of life’s outcomes don’t depend on your background.

Yeah, because as we've all be saying in this thread the exact people who set up a gofundme and organisation are the ones everyone is 100% behind and follow.

Moose the cat is out the bag. Deeney is actually a Marxist.

Out of these which is bad?
    • Capitalism
Quite clearly capitalism isn't going anywhere - and almost everyone would agree there is sliding scale of capitalism. Many anti-BLM posters on here have pointed out how the free market capitalism of immigration from eastern European countries has lowered wages for the British working class and should be stopped by the government. Supporting BLM isn't gonna slide us into communism.

So which of the other things do people want to keep?
    • imperialism
    • white supremacy
    • patriarchy
    • the state structures that disproportionately harm black people in Britain and around the world

So as well as dismantling a nonexistent menace (‘imperialism’) BLM intends to bring down the economy and completely alter relations between the sexes! Sounds harmless enough!

I wondered this when the Deen started writing for the Sun. I turned to Mrs Moose and I said Darling, you know that Troy Deeney fellow? I think he's only gone and become a Marxist. Good Lord Moosey, she replied. I expect he'll have his hands full this season. Do you think he should play up front on his own?

I saw Exeter kicked someone out last night for showing their annoyance towards players taking the knee. Several people in the Rookery were booing last night as it went on as well.

This simply isn't true, you just have to think internationally, whether its the foreign adventures of Western Governments or the regimes we support or the economic indebtedness the Third World has suffered. It wouldn't be much of a movement of equality if it merely was concerned with people living in the West and raised their living standards at the continued expense of those elsewhere. Collecting our recycling or toxic waste and dumping it in West Africa is pure imperialism and it happens all the time. Our high streets are full of goods made in sweatshops elsewhere.

So if you think about it there is plenty you probably agree with.

A championship club chucked someone out for the same thing. And banned him from attending their stadium for future matches. Libertarian organisations are queuing up to fund his defence. Excellent news about the booing at VR last night

Do you think there aren't any problems with imperialism, sexism, or capitalism?

The founders of the BLMUK organisation are probably extreme and live in their own Americanised echo chamber, and the dismantling of everything is an extreme unrealistic and impractical goal. But all of these things are still very real problems in this world, and we are a rich enough society to fix them. Just because progress has been made vs the 1800s doesn't mean we should stop changing.

Funny that, I’m boycotting it too, but only because we are so crap.

Watching a lot of old boomers get vexed about taking the knee might just be worth the attendance.

Sasha Johnson seems to be a nut and as bad as the old racists she's against. I see she's from round here and calls herself "Oxfordshire's Black Panther". I have never seen her at any Kremlin-attended events and protests (which are many. Many, many, many) and I don't know where she has sprung from. We could have done with her panthers when we were successfully getting the foul Campsfield House immigration prison shut down - a campaign that lasted over 20 years with never a monthly protest missed. She must have been busy.

If I do come across her I will report back. I as someone who has eaten with 'proper' panthers in Havana while living there might be of interest to her.

Well, because capitalism needs competition - between individuals and between countries. In a competition there must be a winner and a loser. The strong are the winners, the weak are the losers and have to suffer accordingly.

Now as you look around this country and around the world, you would agree that the vast majority of those occupying positions of power and wealth tend towards a paler shade of skin, while those of us who are the losers tend to be a bit browner.

It seems plainly obvious to me that you can't really have proper equality until you replace the capitalist system of competition with one based on co-operation instead.

It seems so obvious. But then I also think, for example, that it would be far better, more efficient and effective if all the world's best scientists were co-operating together and pooling their knowledge and resources in order to defeat this Covid. I know I know. Can't be done. Impossible. Crazy communistic nonsense.

You don't think there are any empires today or powerful states trying to take control over poorer weaker ones and add them to their empire or sphere of influence? Honestly?

The list of economically and/or militarily controlled countries is enormous. The United States has more than 160,000 military personnel posted overseas and military bases in 150 countries, including the UK and including Cuba. Coups and invasions are going on all the time - most recently in Venezuela.

The 'economy' is another codeword for capitalism. Yes, the 'economy' has to go I'm afraid. We'll find other ways of providing people with what they need to consume. A more equal, fair and less wasteful and environmentally damaging way.

And finally, I think you must have your tongue in your cheek when you're defending patriarchy and sexism. It despoils the rest of your argument to go to such absurdity.

I think talk of ‘imperialism’ is ridiculous and while sexism still exists and capitalism is not a perfect system, I think the issues are the same for everyone – regardless of their skin colour. I agree with everything you say in your second paragraph.

One person’s ‘eccentricity’ shouldn’t discredit a complete organisation – of course not. But Sasha’s views are not particularly extreme within BLM.

This just suggests you don’t understand imperialism. I don’t mean that rudely, but I believe you are thinking imperialism is all a bit Servelan in Blake’s 7 or medieval conquering armies. Imperialism of today is about Countries and cliques exerting power over other Countries to exploit natural resources and labour.

Elon Musk wants your cobalt. Well you better get your kids to work in the mines and give it to him if you want to sell anything else, have a currency or a functioning country.
